**★★★★★ — Stoneworks Paving, March 2016**

> Working with Becky is always a pleasure, she has a great design sense and works well with clients. She also has a great understanding of building practices, which is rare among designers. Not only does she understand the design, but how it will be built and integrated into the space she is working with. Her drawings and specifications are top notch, clear and concise.

> On this job Becky designed a front yard hardscape plan that took advantage of existing landscape features to create a semi-private patio. A few carefully positioned segmental retaining walls and existing foliage created a fantastic patio that the clients love. Becky also visited the site several times during construction and was available to answer any questions that arose during construction.

> Elements Design/ Build provided my husband and myself with a thorough project description re the renovation of our En-suite 3 piece bath. Outlined in the Design Contract was the design development ( plans, finishes, services, fixtures and millwork) along with the budget and work schedules, permits and construction and installation of design. Becky made several visits to our home with tile samples, catalogues of light and plumbing fixtures, paint swatches, etc. We never had to leave our home to search out items for this project. She was respectful of our budget. She coordinated this En-suite to match the rest of our home, especially our adjoining bedroom. We were very pleased with the final product.

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Dyck, Jan. 2016**

> Becky created a beautiful redesign of our exterior space including steps, patios, garage and driveway. Becky saw our project through from initial concepts, to permits and architectural drawings, to the selection of finishes and onsite project adjustments.
> Always realistic, reliable and available during our project. In my opinion it is always worth every penny to hire an accredited professional from the start of any home project.
> Modern touches with classic design will see our transformation through the decades to come.

**★★★★★ — dyersca, Jan. 2016**

> Becky was very helpful coming up with ideas for a new bathroom in our basement. She was able to suggest the best ways to use the space by showing us where the fixtures should go. Additionally, she made recommendations about what kind of tub surround to get as well the best kind of finish plumbing. Very helpful!

**★★★★★ — Lori Dyck, Dec. 2015**

> Becky took the time to get to know our style and what we really wanted to accomplish with our home reno design. Our 30 year old house now looks like the new house on the block and we could not be happier!

**★★★★★ — Hardscapes Inc., Jan. 2014**

> This is our second MAJOR project working with ELEMENT design build. I enjoy every moment of decision making and having Becky guide me through the planning and design process. She seems to capture our goals, visions, ideas and budget all in the first stage... And then brings it to completion.

**Comment from elements design.build:**

> Carla and Doug are fabulous clients with impeccable taste and so easy to work with! This second project is the freshening of a house they have recently moved into. The home had El Paso vibe - not at all our clients' taste. To balanced the golden scheme we painted walls grey, installed some new flooring & counters, and added stainless-steel accents. New cabinetry, flooring, and bathroom will finish out the basement for this busy family with 3 very busy boys! Nearly finished. Pictures to follow!

 - Description: These recent retirees love to entertain and wanted to make better use of their expansive riverside back yard. The river floods frequently, so there is a three foot high floodwall surrounding the house, separating it from the yard. Located in southern Manitoba, where temperatures vary from +35 C to -40 C, the homeowners also wanted to extend the 'deck season', so a 3-season sunroom was added into an 'L' between the kitchen and garage. A unique roof design tied it into the existing home linking th…

 - Description: Frustration with a tiny, central kitchen was the beginning of the construction version of Musical Chairs. The rooms of the main floor were shifted to create a dream Kitchen, an elegant Diningroom, and a comfortable Living/Family Room, all large enough to host dinner parties and yet intimate enough for their family of four. An unused corner in the office was used to create a walk-in coat closet at the front door, while a frosted door and side-lite bring light into the windowless office. A glass-s…

 - Description: These home owners were frustrated by tiny rooms and an outdated awkward kitchen. They could barely seat their family at the table or sit together in the cramped family room. The solution was to combine spaces: Dining Room with Dinette, and Living Room with Family Room. This created a great room that is large enough to seat a dozen for supper, and a gathering space with enough room to watch a movie together. This whole main floor renovation involved replacing structural walls with beams and posts…

 - Description: When this young couple wanted a home, they went looking for a teardown lot on which to build an in-fill. What they found was a crusty shell with a surprising gem inside. Nearly a century old, it's original charm had been eradicated. The original roof had been replaced by a nearly flat one, the front porch had fallen off, and many windows were boarded up. The interior caught their eye, however, with beautiful 14" baseboards, original plaster, and pocket doors that glided like the day they were bu…

 - Description: This lovely, serene house is home to a young family of rowdy boys and their parents. The oiled fir floors and staircase are the unifying feature in a home designed to take the wear and tear that a busy family doles out.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Light!!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Please share the brand and where this amazing light can be bought. Thank you.

A: Thanks for your question! The light truly is amazing, and the photo even doesn't do it justice! It is Melosa \# 16556 by Eurofase. Unfortunately, I don't think they are carrying this chandelier any more, though they do show 2 styles from this line. Perhaps you could find one online. Happy hunting!.

**Q: Dresser into a vanity...now what? Finish the top w varnish or marble?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are contemplating using this dresser for our bathroom vanity. It is amazing in person but I keep having second thoughts. It is 9 drawer and I wonder if I will miss having at least two doors underneath? Also what tile would work well with this color...I dont want to overwhelm the room w the blue, only as a accent. And lastly, what to do with the top? Seal it w varnish and leave the blue or get a marble top? My budget is going to the bathroom remodel so trying to be smart but stylish :) HELP!

A: Fantastic counter choice, though I might have considered a shade or two lighter, for a bit of contrast. A white sink will stand alone on a dark counter.
I put solid surface in my own kitchen and LOVE it. Easy to work with, if you have some experience with wood tools.
I like the tile, too. It accents the angled profiles in your new vanity.

**Q: NEW but bland dining nook and living room** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hoping you can help me with ideas to make our new house more homey. Open concept (maybe TOO open for some) so everything needs to tie together. Sectional stays and would prefer to keep the buffet as it was my grandmother's. I have several pillow inserts but haven't pulled the trigger on buying fabric to cover them. Feel free to share any navy, light blue, grey, green, or yellow fabrics you think would look good!
Might eventually do inside mount bamboo blinds but prefer the openness of nothing right now. My biggest hang up is the dining nook. It feels lacking, but with such a big light, I can't figure out what would look best.
Cant wait to see what you suggest! I've been lurking on this page since moving in a few weeks ago, and I must say--it's so much friendlier and welcoming than some of the other forums!

A: It seems that the table is too tight to the corner/walls. I would pull it out, until it is 30" to 36" from the wall. You can relocate your light fixture quite easily with a hook installed in the ceiling over the new centre of the table (be sure to use a hollow wall hanger, or it could come crashing down).
Consider using an area rug beneath, but certainly add some bold art on at least the longer wall, and tie it together with a long table runner.

**Q: Where did you get the couch? Great** *(in Photo Questions)*

Great couch

A: Lovely home. Who is the manufacturer of this wood stove, please?

**Q: Countertop** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi, can you tell me what that countertop is made of? Thank you.

A: PentalQUartz?
