My experience with RMI Surfaces was nothing short of a nightmare. > > The quality of their work was shockingly poor — damaged slabs they tried to cover up, sloppy installation, uneven seams, and finishes that looked nothing like what was promised. When I tried to raise concerns, I was met with silence or vague excuses. Communication was practically nonexistent, and getting anyone to respond felt impossible. > > The worst part? They took the money and disappeared, leaving an unfinished job and a mess to clean up. It felt like they just walked away once they were paid, with no accountability or follow-through. > > Save yourself the headache — there are plenty of professional, reliable companies out there. Do not work with RMI Surfaces. **★ — HU-752099735, Aug. 2025** > in 2007 my Uncle paid this company in advance to engrave the date of his passing on his already existing headstone. He gave me all the paperwork and receipts and told me to bring it to them when the time came. My Uncle passed away last month, and when I went to RMI Surfaces they said that they no longer do headstones, they do kitchen countertops. They refused to provide the service, and also refused to provide a refund to my Uncle's estate. A deal is a deal, provide the service or refund the money. The owners of this company should be ashamed of themselves. **★★ — J Norton, May 2024** > Deceptive sales and TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Do not expect help with issues after installation. Repeated failure to stand by representations and promises. The first island counter top delivered (which was a very unique and perfect slab we found at RMI) had a massive crack in it that was not apparent at the time of purchase. They said it was already there (even if not visible) and that it became very apparent during processing. We were told it should never have been delivered and installed in that condition. They removed it at our insistence and we ended up purchasing an alternative slab (which is nice but not what we preferred). We noticed immediately that virtually any drop or spill (regardless of how quickly we cleaned it up) would leave a very visible and permanent stain. Yes, we understand that, in general, marble is more susceptible to staining than other surfaces but they assured us that with their tried and true sealing process and our diligence with cleanup, most staining will be prevented and that we'd only need to reseal annually. To reassure us, Alex actually told us he has the same type of marble in his home. Not true, virtually everything stains immediately, regardless of how quickly it's addressed. We complained to RMI, and after repeated failures to return our calls, emails, and texts, they promised they would come out and remove the stains and reseal. It took weeks for them to come out to inspect and then told our contractor they would return to do stain removal and resealing in a couple days. After a couple days of NOT hearing from RMI and more unreturned calls and emails, we received an email that gave us instructions of how to remove stains and reseal every six months "AT OUR OWN RISK," audaciously adding, "please let us know if you have any questions." Now we are paying an independent marble technician to do the job RMI reneged on. RMI has beautiful stone and we are ultimately pleased with the look but we are totally dissatisfied with the unreliable and untrustworthy customer service they provide. Proceed "AT YOUR OWN RISK" with RMI. **★ — Rick Mehler, Dec. 2018** > Perplexed by all the positive reviews. Maybe these people did have great experiences but ours was terrible. The only problems we had with our kitchen renovation were with Rye Marble. First, our contractor had to wait for the marble even though we were ready to install and the counter-top had been ordered months before. Second, the cut around our stove was so poor that the owner was embarrassed and team had to come back again to do it right. (see picture attached) Third, and most important, we were told it was a hard marble that wouldn't etch and it's etching/staining all over. Rye Marble came back and used a "better" sealant (why wasn't it used the first time if better??) but that didn't help. Now they are claiming it's normal for etching given the type of marble we ordered. Why would anyone want a counter-top in a high-use area like a kitchen to be so prone to staining from basic liquids like water? Truly disappointed and wouldn't recommend at all. **Comment from Rye Marble Inc:** > Hi Rick, > > We're sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. We are absolutely transparent with all of our clients about the wear and tear of marble and all types of natural stone. We actually didnt deal with you during the selection process but your designer. We assumed that she would have thoroughly managed your expectations. Your marble performs exactly the same as everyone else's marble: it etches with acid.
