> Betty Wasserman was absolutely wonderful to work with! She is extremely professional and has a very clear vision of what she wants to achieve. When going into this project, I was looking for someone similar to me that had a clear understanding of what I wanted to accomplish and had a strong personality to help it come to fruition. I interviewed 3 or 4 different professionals before choosing Betty. I've been happy ever since and would call her in a heartbeat if you're looking for someone to design your space or home!
> Thanks Betty!!!

> I starting working with Betty a few months ago "freshening up"my house in Southampton. She has taken this house from a little blah to BEAUTIFUL. Betty encouraged me to try new ideas that now seem so obvious. If you are working on a new project or simply giving your house a face lift - Betty should be your go to designer! Highly Recommended.

**★★★★★ — Kathy Angele, Sept. 2022**

> Betty is one of the most talented, and creative professionals I've ever worked with. I hired Betty to design my Watermill home over 10 years ago. While Betty excels in all aspects of design - style, textures, scale, I found that more than any other designer I have seen, Betty shines when it comes to color. She can put together room after room where colors seem to effortlessly compliment one another.
>
> I am a type A person, and Betty was my match. While creative talents are essential in a designer, the best ones have what Betty has - a real business acumen. Betty was uber organized, methodical and every decision we made, had to make sense. I received my invoices with all pertinent information attached for future reordering and/or reference to paint colors, fabric brands, etc..
>
> I interviewed many designers before we hired Betty, and I would say "look no further" Betty has and does it all.
>
> On a separate note, I've seen her play tennis, and you'd also be happy to have her couple as your doubles partner as well!
>
> Betty was a joy to work with. We had a lot of fun working together and I was beyond satisfied with the project.

> We were looking for a designer who had a contemporary look, but would make the place comfortable. For us, this apartment is a get away and we wanted it to be comfortable, warm and friendly. We saw Betty’s work on-line and liked it. We talked to her by phone, felt a connection and hired her to work with us.
>
> We have not been disappointed. Our place is warm, comfortable and contemporary. We love being able to arrive here and feel immediately comfortable and relaxed. In addition, we like to incorporate art into our environment and Betty was able to pull some artists and art that was definitely to our liking and helps to make the place our home. We know what we like, but were unfamiliar with the NY resources. Betty certainly knows where to go for what she wants. I really appreciated that our first couple of sessions together were spent just looking at things so that Betty could understand what we liked and did not like.
>
> In addition to designing and choosing furniture, Betty coordinated contractors, deliveries and installations, which all was a great relief to us.
>
> We would highly recommend Betty.

**★★★★★ — Ken Lewis, June 2020**

> We’ve been working with Betty since 2013. She is a highly talented interior designer with locations in NYC/Manhattan and the Hamptons. She is playful, witty, easy to work with, and has a knack for keeping work light, yet professional. If you have the chance to hire her or work with her, grab it! She’s great!

**★★★★★ — N S, April 2019**

> We are currently working with Betty in remodeling our home and have had a wonderful experience with her so far from the planning phase to execution phase. Not only is she extremely meticulous and easy to work with, Betty has a great eye for integrating colors with the furniture we’ve selected which has gotten us really excited for the end product.
>
> From the start, she was able to quickly identify our preference in style with limited input and present options within our budget. More importantly she has the ability to drive the project forward without feeling pressure while keeping us on time and within our budget.

**★★★★★ — Judy Fradin, March 2019**

> I had recently bought a new condo in Manhattan. Being new to Manhatttan, I was overwhelmed about how to decorate. I picked Betty because I saw her reviews, loved her portfolios, and, most of all, needed someone who knew how to help me find good Art that I could afford. It was one of the best calls I ever made. From our first phone contact I could tell that Betty was pleasant to work with, well organized and knew a lot. Through the process of redecoration she has been a Godsend. She has suggested things I would never have thought of. Her eye for color is great. She is creative but also well organized. She listened to what I wanted and together we picked out amazing art, as well as furniture, paint colors and other nenovations that make the apartment so much warmer and more comfortable, while also stunning. I highly recommend her.

**★★★★★ — Marina Chaffardet, Feb. 2018**

> Betty has the unique ability to combine striking pieces with casual ones and have them work harmoniously together in a relaxed beach house environment. Betty helped us with our beach house in the Hampton's, which turned into quite a large project, including a complete gut renovation and addition. There was a lot of work, which overlapped with our architects, and Betty was able to add a lot of value on the architectural design of the house and worked very well with the team we had in place.
>
> Betty was fun to work with and very proactive and responsive to all our needs, concerns and wishes. Even difficult spaces, or oddly shaped rooms were improved greatly due to her ideas about form and function, and giving spaces a purpose, which could otherwise go unused, or under appreciated. We strongly recommend her!

**★★★★★ — G. Fried Carpet & Design, Dec. 2017**

> I worked on a large project with Betty and had a very good experience. Betty was organized, easy to work with, communicated very well, and did great work. As a flooring professional for 20 years, I would highly recommend Betty Wasserman to anyone looking for decorating and design services.

**★★★★★ — Robyn Goldschmid, Sept. 2017**

> We are happy to recommend Betty Wasserman Art & Interiors. Betty has an incredible eye which made all the difference in our major renovation of a beach house on Daniel's lane in Sagaponack, LI. We love her ability to create a combination of both style and function in every room in our home!
>
> We especially love the kids rooms—and the kids couldn’t be happier either. They are elegant but still kid friendly and are both casual and sophisticated at the same time. Although our children are quite young, we don’t feel we will have to redo their rooms for a very long time, they can grow up in these rooms, which is really nice. The color scheme she picked throughout the entire house is perfect for us and fabrics hold well extremely well for kids.
>
> We also love the selections of stone and tiles she picked for our bathrooms and kitchen - especially for the powder room, and overall, all the rooms in general all live well together, they are similar but different. They feel well curated, but not exactly the same, so they don’t get boring. There is a flow to the house that most every guest can appreciate and that we love with every visit.
>
> We couldn’t be happier with the outcome!

> She is detail oriented, a perfectionist and has her own unique style. She sees the complete project through from floor plans to custom furniture, accessories, carpets, window treatments and spectacular artworks. Her vision allows her to mix materials, colors and textures to create a warm and inviting environment that is elegant, comfortable and functional. Everyone should live in a home designed by Betty Wasserman!

> Betty’s ability to create a modern yet timeless aesthetic inside a home is immediately what drew me to her work. I have worked with Betty on 2 projects; one in Long Island, NY and the other in Westchester, NY. In my Long Island home, Betty created a modern and beachy vibe which lends itself perfectly to the open floor plan of the house. Though we worked on this project almost 10 years ago, it looks just as pristine and modern today as when it was originally finished. For my Westchester, NY home, Betty helped me redecorate my home, tailoring it exactly to my taste.
>
> Throughout both processes, Betty’s professionalism was exemplified in her extreme organization of the project, her efficiency, and her artistic vision. She helped me with everything from working with carpenters on custom pieces to one-of-a-kind pillows and artwork. Betty and her awesome daughter Milly have become close friends of mine and I could not be happier with her work.

> Over the past few years, I have worked with Betty on projects both in my NYC showroom and residences in CT ( beach and town) . Betty has great enthusiasm and excitement about design which is very inspirational. I also appreciate her ability to think outside the box and push the limits in order to make a concept into a reality. Her aesthetic approach is warm and comforting while at the same time modern and functional. She truly considered our lifestyle and integrated it into the design on our home projects, which is why we love the end result so much. Betty is also very sensitive to budgets and timing. > We had a great experience working with Betty. She designed our apartment in NYC and was organized, meticulous and easy to work with. She kept to our timeline and had an agenda at every meeting that kept the project moving quickly forward. The number of decisions to be made for our apartment was, at times, overwhelming and exhausting to us but Betty did a fantastic job in easing us through the small decision while keeping an eye on the big picture. We wanted to see a lot of choices for most of the purchases and she always managed to find a spectrum of options for us to choose from.
>
> We had a general idea of the style we liked but beyond that, our biggest priorities were livability and durability. Between our dog and young kids, we knew the apartment had to be pretty indestructible. We constantly get compliments on how spottless and pristine our apartment has stayed - if only our friends knew how many kids have danced on our living room couches! Betty did a fabulous job of working with materials that can withstand the day to day wear and tear of young kids - leaving us with a gorgeous apartment that we can enjoy wihout ever feeling like we're slaves to our fine things!

> In 2012 I represented a Japanese corporate client in need of sound professional advice on how to catalogue, evaluate, restore, and display their existing art collection within their new corporate headquarters located in the heart of New York City. Betty was chosen based on her extensive experience as a corporate art curator as well as her reputation as a highly regarded interior designer. The partnership worked wonderfully - she was able to breath new life into the the existing collection by modernizing how the art work was framed and displayed. This not only complemented the interior design, but enhanced the overall experience and added a level of sophistication to the space. The partnership was so successful that her scope of services was widened to include furniture consultation and wall coverings. Since that experience I recommend Betty to all my clients. She delivers without fail and is a master of her craft.

> Betty and I had the great pleasure of working together on our first carpet over 14 years ago; during this time she has become more patron than client, particularly involving herself and devoting time to Goodweave. Betty’s deep passion and understanding of the arts has always made her the ideal collaborator. Her understanding of the artistic process and respect for the needs of both her clients and the artisans she works with have resulted in many stunning projects over the years. Betty approaches space with the eye of a curator. Through the subtle balance of colors, textures and shapes she creates dynamic, understated and livable environments. There is never anything extraneous in her work. Her focus is on the beauty and integrity of each object working together to compliment her client’s individual style and uniqueness.
> Betty has always supported Goodweave, ensuring hand knotted carpets are child labor free, a foundation I am deeply engaged with. We share our commitment to using products made with only sustainable materials and fair labor practices. I am very proud to be a part of Betty’s work and always look forward to our projects.

> Working with Betty Wasserman's consultancy for a decade I've noticed not only her impeccable design aesthetic but importantly, great client relationships established through Betty's ability to manage expectations. When Betty brings clients to my studio, she knows them, understands their needs and sensibilities and I am aways happy to visit with them... it's a pleasure because our work together is treated with respect...It's meaningful to me that in these visits the three (or four) of us achieve understanding about the essential intentions and meaning of the artworks. This is important because I know that a consciousness will continue to unfold for the client through the interaction and magic of artwork carefully chosen for an exquisite space that has been created by Betty Wasserman in collaboration with her clients.

## Community Q&A

**Q: help with blank slate** *(in Home Decorating)*

Help please!

Room size is 13 feet wide, 12 feet long (22 feet long on window wall, window is 10 feet long)

we do not know what to do with this room - we are going to put a wood burning stove in the fireplace alcove and obviously not keep the TV in there, but are stuck with where to go... how to arrange furniture, what furniture / rug (will be getting new), where to put TV if we even should keep it in room (would like to, but also just stuck and want the room to look great).

We like bright, traditional, and farmhouse styles - but are really open to anything, changing color schemes too! Would love any and all input!!

Also thought about adding picture frame molding around ? and maybe two sconces on walls either side of wood burning stove. open to anything!

A: Right now there are not a ton of options for a place for a TV if doing an actual wood burning stove in the alcove. You'll either want to place the sofa facing the blank wall, and have the TV mounted on the blank wall with swivel chairs flanking either side of the TV. Or you could try a small sectional floating in the room, facing the fireplace, and doing a swivel chair on one side of the fireplace, and mount the TV on the same wall on an articulating arm so you can pull if off the wall and turn it how it is needed. Please note the sectional floating in the space in the fist and third images. You could also do 4 swivel chairs around an ottoman (seen in the second image below) instead of a sofa or sectional.

**Q: Couch configuration for long and narrrow den** *(in Home Decorating)*

Hello, would it be better to place a sectional couch in this space or keep the couch and add a chair and a half? Also, would it be better to place tv above (not working) fireplace to allow more walkroom to the door to deck. The adjacent room to the left is dining room

A: You might be able to do two swivel chairs in that space, or a small chair in the nook under the TV. You will want to measure to make sure anything you buy won't be too big for the space, but we do not recommend a sectional, unless floating it in the space, facing the fireplace and then have to chairs behind the sectional facing the door that opens.
Another option is 4 swivel chairs around an ottoman:

Smaller sofa/apartment sized sectional with armchairs or swivel chairs:

**Q: Wallpaper Advice** *(in Design Dilemma)*

This is my 3/4 small bath directly
Off my recently remodeled off white kitchen. I kept the original floor and shower design and painted plain off white. I would like to now add wallpaper but was told by an online designer that since my floor and shower tile is busy I should
Not have a busy wallpaper. The tile
Is a tan travertine the vanity and fixtures are updated. What do you think. I would like to go with a soft safe green or dusty blue or
Something with a gold /cream. Is the one pic too
Busy for this small
Room? Any suggestions ? Thanks
I’ll try and post more wallpaper ideas

A: There are many wallpaper options to choose from. Since you're unable to change the flooring, you'll just want to make sure what you choose doesn't clash with what you already have. Try looking at some bathroom designs on here, along with other wallpaper designs that have the tones in the travertine in them. Below are a few wallpapers we have used in powder room and laundry room designs for our clients.

**Q: Need a Statement/"WOW" Chandelier** *(in Home Decorating)*

I need your help!! I have been looking for a statement light fixture/chandelier to go above my u-shaped staircase near my entryway. My staircase will look similar to the pic below along with a pic of a light fixture that I am obsessed with, but feel it is too wide and not tall enough.
The width of my staircase is 96” (8’)
The total height from floor to ceiling is 252” (21’)
The height from the floor to the top of the landing is 78” (6.5’), then from the top of the landing to the ceiling is 174” (14.5’).
The dimensions of the light fixture in my pic is Height 26.5", Diameter 52.25”
Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated! :)

\*\*UPDATE\*\* It is a new construction house, therefore I do not have pic of the actual staircase. Below are pics of similar staircases. The chandelier will hang above the staircase, not including the foyer. My style is Transitional with a bit of whimsy :). I don't have a set budget -- the lower the better -- would prefer not to go $3,000.

A: You could try looking at other staircase designs on here to see what chandeliers designers have used in that area as a statement piece. Below are a few of the ones we have used for various clients:

**Q: low budget updates** *(in Lighting)*

I have a friend who just bought a home and can’t afford to do a Reno. This is the kitchen. Is there suggestions for new light fixtures to lighten the space up?

A: We might suggest looking at doing LED lighting under the cabinets and then looking for a pendant light with multiple lights to go over the island. Below are a few ideas from various kitchen designs we have done. Please notice the under cabinet lighting:

**Q: What to do with this space?** *(in Home Decorating)*

I have a large vestibule at the top of a staircase with no ideas on how to fill it (its in the middle between two hallways)

please help a novice! The wall is 86 inches long and the railing side is close to 13 feet. Any suggestions?

A: There are many different things you could do with that area. Below are a few visual examples to help more. Note the desk, chairs, rugs, chaise lounges, and tables.
