While we're based in Minnesota, we're willing and able to take on significant projects throughout the country. Our unique, web-based management system allows us to oversee projects long distance and keep our clients informed. We've partnered with www.BuildTools.com to develop tools never before seen in the construction industry. All of our projects are built on a fully transparent/open book basis, locking into a firm budget before construction begins. Our clients have full access to all of the bids and invoices on their project & our fee is a percentage of the total project cost, listed as a line item on the budget. We competitively bid each category of the work to 2-3 subcontractors. This ensures that we are getting the best pricing possible, from a group of contractors that we know to deliver our expected level of quality. As a part of our construction process, and as a part of our construction fee, we assist our clients through construction selections and interior design. In addition, we partner with local Interior design firms to consider furnishing, window treatments, etc... early in the process. This integration ensures that furniture placement, size, & design is considered while laying out lighting, ceiling details, & general flow throughout the home. Our designers work from a 'library' of finishes: tile, wood flooring, hardware, etc.. that enable them to work very efficiently with our clients, & saves quite a bit of running around to multiple showrooms. Sven is personally involved in the construction of all of our homes & employs 4 professional project managers that oversee the daily schedules at our homes. They typically manage no more than 2 projects at a given time, ensuring that you get the attention you need and deserve. I feel like the attention to detail happens more on parade homes. It is a little frustrating to have moved into this wonderful home and still have things unfinished. I will admit that some of this is to be expected when you build a custom home, but from the day we received our budget to when we closed there were numerous costs uncovered that were either not clear to us, or a complete surprise. When it came to making changes, the costs were not fully estimated and we found ourselves with thousands in unexpected bills. We uncovered cost increases that were discussed among the trades and builder but not communicated to us until it was too late to make new selections. We were not happy to be surprised by a $50k bill upon closing that, despite every effort to stay on top of things, was completely unexpected. Even today, 15 months after closing, we are receiving random invoices for things that should have been resolved long ago. It's frustrating and creates mistrust with the builder. At this level of home you expect more from a builder. Maybe you have to spend over 5 million to get treated properly? > > I have been told Stonewood sticks with you years past closing and is happy to help with repairs or even refreshing your home.
