> We hired Next Level to do an extensive remodel and update on our home. We remodeled the bathrooms and kitchen and painted the entire interior. We replaced the carpet with hardwood flooring and all windows in the house had to be replaced. It was great working with Nate Shanklin and his crew. Nate helped us come up with a great vision for our home and a plan to make that happen. He kept us informed throughout the project and was always accessible. HIs crew was very considerate of our family life and very pleasant to work with. We always knew what to expect and when it would happen. It is difficult to have your home remodeled while you are living in it but Next Level did everything possible to ease the process. I would highly recommend them! We are very happy with our "new" home.

**Comment from schön:**

> Thank you so much for your review. It was great working with you on the project!

> Nathan and the people with Next Level were very professional, honest and trustworthy. If minor mistakes occurred, they were quickly remedied with no disputes. Next Level was willing to work very closely with us to make sure we could take on and complete the project; they are able to work closely with the architect and subcontracts to deliver a top-notch renovation. Their bid was extremely competitive, and they delivered a project that has been featured in magazines and received awards. I would hire them again without hesitation.

**Comment from schön:**

> Thank you for the review! Greatly Appreciate! Love how the kitchen turned out!

> Our Design Company has completed many beautiful projects with Next Level. Their staff have always been very professions, courteous, and highly motivated to bring their clients the best in craftsmanship and customer service. Their attention to detail make our projects a beautiful reality. They have assisted us in many preliminary pricing exercises and their estimates are very accurate to the end cost. I would highly recommend using this contractor for any project large or small.

**Comment from schön:**

> Thanks Chris. Always a pleasure working with you as well!

> Nathan & Chris from Next Level have been very pleasant to work with. Scheduling and efficiency are difficult things to master in the building trades but when you make a connection with a company like Next Level, flow of process runs smooth and it's a breath of fresh air.

> I hired Nate Shanklin at the recommendation of my cousin to open up my kitchen to my family room and to redo the lighting and ceilings in my kitchen, among other smaller jobs. The work was done on time and with excellent workmanship. Nate is helpful - making suggestions and working together with me for maximum impact at an affordable price. He is very pleasant - fun to talk with - and is trustworthy. I had just bought my house and needed the construction projects to be done prior to my moving in. He and his team worked overtime to get the job done in time. In addition he recommended and facilitated my purchase of area rugs -- converted carpet - for my family room and bedroom. I will definitely use Next Level Renovation for my next project.

> We have hired Nathan several times to work on our private home over the past 10 years. We were always pleased with his work and communication style. I always knew who will be coming to my house and that they will be respectful to me and my property. Infact, many of his guys became like friends and I ended up trusting them in my house alone. They clean up after every day. But most of all, we could always call Nathan down the line to fix things right away when something went wrong. Today, whenever my clients look for a contractor I always recommend Next Level Builders.

> These guys came up with unique ideas for my house that fit in perfectly with how we use the space and mesh perfectly with the style of our home. Great communication!

**★★★★★ — jkwitter, March 2011**

> Recommended without qualification. We've worked with Nathan for nearly 4 years on an extensive remodeling of our 80's era condo. He is thoughtful, he listens, and he is very adept at translating ideas into workable, lovely results. He is also exceptionally responsive when there is a problem, such as last winter when a drain backed up in our kitchen. He was faster than the condo troubleshooters, helped us to begin the mitigation process, and ultimately restored the floor to it's original (recently remodeled) state. His prices are fair and his work is highest quality. He and his workers are always polite, careful to minimize dirt and dust, and a pleasure to have in our home.

## Community Q&A

**Q: I have the same backsplash question. Has anyone answered? Who did it?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: https://www.motawi.com/

**Q: Corbels!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I want to install corbels under my granite countertop strictly for decoration, they will not offer any support to the granite. They will be installed onto a textured wall finish. What is the best way to install, glue or screw?

A: You might want to consider a high quality epoxy. Your local home center would be able to give you advice on the right type. A good quality hot glue could work as well. If possible Screw and Glue would be the best bet. But chances are you don't have backing right behind the exact spots you want to put the corbels.

**Q: Help me update our exterior** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We love our new (to us) side split home & plan to stay in it for some time. There is a lot of work to be done but the layout is perfect for us & it's in a great neighbourhood. That being said, the exterior is so drab.
I would love some colour ideas, but also wouldn't mind some more expensive fix ideas (garage door needs replacing & the wood siding needs repair / paint). We've chosen a new front door that looks similar to this one but it'll be a single door with side lights on both sides (no transom).
And btw, I love this home as inspiration (with the black door - not mine ;)). I love prairie style homes & wonder if we could make some updates to modernize our home some. We don't want to paint the brick.
We've done some cleanup with landscaping & I've attached those photos here. It could still use a little more work in that regard as well but it feels clearer looking now.
Any advice my fellow houzzers? :)

A: With the bones of the house as it exists, a Prairie scheme would work well. Play with the color schemes and simple treatments. Even fabbing up some simple prairie style window grid work would be an inexpensive start. Adding some simple DIY wraps and details to your existing columns and pilasters would help.

**Q: Under the pretty window** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We did an elevated window design to incorporate a built in window seat but there is not enough room to have that type of seat now I have an empty wall looking for ideas what to put under the window if anything…?

A: Something similar to this wainscoting we did in this project. I realize it's not the same setting, etc..

**Q: Happy with positive reveal?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Are you happy with positive reveal of sink, or does it collect too much dirt? Love this look! I need to make a decision about the reveal of my Rohl sink ASAP. Thanks!

A: We do this both ways. We find that the "positive" reveal is a little bit more of a classic look. You will have a caulk line to maintain though.

**Q: Love flooring** *(in Photo Questions)*

What type/color is the flooring.

A: Rift sawn and quarter sawn white oak with a stained finish. Thx!
