Customer service does not know cork. 2 years ago the store was able to sell me just what I needed. Now they do not understand what customers need for specialty items. The same cork or better can be bought elsewhere, with less hassle.

**Q: Can this be used near a gas stove** *(in Product Questions)*

My kitchen is being remodeled and I’m searching for a material to go on the walls beside the stove, behind it and over my sink

A: Greetings,


Thank you for your message. These tiles are not suitable to be installed near an open flame, as they are not fire-treated. If you are adamant to installing them behind the stove, a flame-proof material will have to be applied to the tiles post-installation. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact us!

**Q: trivet** *(in Product Questions)*

Can this be used as a trivet for hot dishes. pots, etc?

A: Hi Johanncy,

Thank you for your question!  We do not recommend using these slate plates as alternatives to cork trivets. They have a protective layer to make them easy to clean and food safe added with the fact that the slate plate might crack due to temperature shock from hot metal on cool stone. **Q: Finish and grout colors?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Did you stain the floor? I like the sheen. And the grouting is lovely. What finishes were used?

A: Hi. The floor is not stained. It is the natural cork color. The polyurethane used to finish the floor deepens the colors. The grout is grey (Mapie in ultracolor plus FA). The finish is a water based satin polyurethane.

**Q: Can these cork tiles be used to pin items on?** *(in Product Questions)*

A: For sure! They are thick enough for push pins. They are very textured though so depending what you are pinning, it may not lay completely smooth.

**Q: Adhesive backing** *(in Product Questions)*

Is there an adhesive backing?

A: Hi Rosa,

What we recommend is by the company 3M. The product they make is called "3M Fastbond Contact Adhesive, Low odor - water based" 3M is an international company, so you should be able to find this exact product or similar. Let us know if you have any other questions!
