Contractor installed the wrong tile edger/jolly, needed 1/2 inch they installed 5/8 inch and contractor said you can grout over it with the 5/8 jolly. > Contractor told me we need to caulk the vertical corners, so i gave him the caulk, he put grout instead. > The drywall was installed before insulation and i had to catch it and tell the contractor that we need the insulation on exterior wall so pipes don't freeze. > General contractor hired elecrical contractor not connected to company and didnt check the work before inspector came and needed a second inspection and you get charged for 2nd time inspector comes by which we were not aware of. They surprise you with fees at the end. > General contractor does not come out to see project, he assumes everything is done. > A couple charges were added at the final payment and never informed us during project. > I had to be a general contractor without pay. > I have all the pictures and videos as proof. > To avoid the headaches and paying top dollar for incompetent general contarctor(s) and horrible work. Yes, there were ‘bumps in the road’ with our large project, but Larry always gave us options. We have had a lot of remodeling done in the 45 years that we have been in our home, and there are always ‘bumps.’ The important thing is how the contractor deals with those ‘bumps.’ Imperial has consistently performed in a professional manner. We called them back for a kitchen ‘facelift’ in 2009 in which they replaced the old laminate countertops/stainless steel sink with Corian sink and countertops. We also replaced the laminate on the round custom table they originally fabricated. In addition, they also renovated our ½ bath in 2009. We called them back again in 2014 to check/replace the hinges where needed on the cabinets they had built in our kitchen originally. Surprisingly, there were only a couple of hinges that needed replacing; their work has stood the test of time. Recently, we asked them to return to help repair some countertop damage and cabinet readjustment needed when we replaced the microwave. They worked carefully around all the existing cabinets. The results were amazing. It still looks like it is part of the original work. Larry Rych has been the one who shepherded the original renovation and all the other work as well. He always analyzes and explains the options we have, as well as pointing out the possible negative consequences of some of the changes we might be considering. The employees who come to do the work arrive on time and are always well prepared, work hard and are polite. **Comment from Imperial Kitchens and Baths, Inc.:** > Thank you. We enjoy working with you on all your projects. **★ — bgc9214, Dec. 2017** > I would not work with this organization again. They did not understand what I wanted in my remodel. They did not make clear to me what was necessary in my job and were condesending when I didn't understand what they were talking about. I ended up having to find my own sink and faucet for the remodel. They delayed doing the job and never notified me of why it was delayed. There was no follow up on time line. When they removed the counter top to replace it there was a large hole in the wall where an electrical unit had been installed which the old counter top had covered up. I had to try to repair this myself since they did not offer any assistance and they charged me extra when they had to adapt to what my electrician I had to hire had done to fix the situation. It was too difficult to deal with them. Not worth my time and money. **Comment from Imperial Kitchens and Baths, Inc.:** > Imperial Kitchens and Baths is a full-service remodeling company specializing in all aspects of the remodeling process. We pride ourselves not only on a job well-done, but the long-lasting relationships we develop with our clients. We are truly sorry that we were not able to bring this client happiness with their new kitchen counter; however, the client chose to not utilize all our services which were knowingly available to them. > > Our original contract was to remove the old kitchen counters, then provide and install a custom laminate countertop, sink, faucet and hook-up the plumbing. Later, we agreed to install a sink and faucet the client found elsewhere for less money. However, this caused an issue when the first sink they bought was not compatible with the countertop. We attempted to assist the client in quickly locating a replacement, but they moved forward with purchasing a second sink on their own. > > Once the old top was removed, it took a few days to fabricate the custom top to fit. During this time, the client chose to have an electrician, independent of our company, come in to repair electrical work they found once the top was removed. The client did not approach us concerning a remedy for any existing problems they had discovered. > > The client’s electrician did not clean up after himself, nor did he reconnect various pieces of the kitchen he took apart while doing his work. Our installer now had additional work to do prior to installing the new counter, which we billed for at a discounted rate. > > With all due respect, the client made this project more difficult by part-and-parceling the project. We are not responsible if issues arise that we have no control over, especially if they are not communicated to us. Nor are we responsible for other contractors the client opts to hire for other projects and we should not be expected to clean up after them at our expense. **★★★★★ — Jill Stech, Aug. 2017** > Excellent - I know that Imperial has been in the LaGrange/Brookfield area for more than 35 years. So they must be doing something right. When I contacted them, Larry was very responsive and knew exactly what I was looking for in the way of flooring. He found the exact product that I wanted. Steve (the installer) arrived every day around 730 am and worked non-stop until 3pm...no breaks for lunch, just kept working....very dedicated. The project took a little longer than estimated but Steve found a soft spot around the toilet that needed to be fixed...thank goodness my existing toilet didn't fall into the basement!!! LOL! I am very very happy with the service I received from Imperial, Larry and Steve.
