That was in upstate Ghent, NY. Then we moved into a home in Peekskill, NY and the first call we made was to kitchen designer Lawrence Martin to figure out a complete update. Both kitchens were knockouts. Lawrence is super talented and great to work with. All the folks we met at CC were kind and generous. The biggest PLUS is that nothing is stock. Everything is stick-built and custom. There's not much they can't do. In our case, they made our counters/cabinets 1" higher as we are both tall. And there is the standard extra 1" bonus depth in cabinets on all of their builds. The wood selection is terrific and the quality of the install is peerless. The closet was created by adding a wall and hanging a shelf with a bar beneath it – closing it up with double bifold doors. The bathroom was a small square that had been part of the entry foyer, there was no door and very little space for two people. We had put up with this for 20 years. Deciding we wanted to stay at least another ten, we decided it was time to upgrade those two aspects of one of our favorite rooms in the house. > > Looking here on Houzz we got the idea of a built-in set of cabinets instead of an open closet. Armed with an image for the closet and a few ideas for the bathroom, we approached Charlie through his Houzz listing and he responded promptly. He listened well, generated drawings from what he heard to confirm our desires and his understanding of them, and began the cabinet work in his shop while demolition began in our bedroom. Charlie's onsite supervisor Kenny did a great job of coordinating the subs and roughing out the spaces. We maintained a constant dialog around the arrangement of the bathroom, the lighting, and finishes. Through it all Charlie and his crew were accommodating and always kept us apprised of the impact of our requests in terms of cost and time. The job site was cleaned daily, the rest of the house was always available to us, and even the dogs loved having Kenny and his buddies around. > > The end result is stunning. We obtained 3 estimates and decided on CPWoodcrafters for many reasons. First of all, we liked him (Charlie, owner) found him to be very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Secondly, he was the only one that came out to give us the estimate that wasn't a salesman. He is a cabinet maker so he knew exactly what was needed along with some suggestions to make the project beautiful. He was upfront with the fact that we would have to wait 8 weeks for the service, but it was well worth it. > > It took about 4 days to complete, and the men that were here started at 7 am and some days stayed until 5 or 6 pm. They were neat and respectful of our home, courteous and professional (and I felt very comfortable leaving them in my home without me being there.) The kitchen went from an old dingy oak to a bright rich white- the cabinets were beautiful! Charlie had made a few suggestions (no pressure) and we decided to go with them and so happy we did. He built out the cabinet above the refrigerator so it looked built in, and also put an additional door on the other side of the island for easier access to storage. He replaced our old drawers with the nice slide ones that close with a push. The crown molding he made for the tops of the cabinets were elegant and made quite a difference. Needless to say, we are thrilled with our new kitchen, and so happy we went with CPWoodcrafters! My kitchen remodel involved refacing the cabinets since the boxes themselves were solid hard wood and after interviewing several contractors almost none of them want to do the labor involved in refacing.
