Communication was poor throughout the project, and it was often difficult to get updates or responses to questions. The work took longer than expected, and several issues had to be addressed multiple times before they were corrected. Overall, the experience was frustrating and did not meet the level of professionalism or quality I was expecting. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company. **★ — Carter, Feb. 2023** > Some years ago, Eljin was hired by me by written contract to do a townhouse renovation. My architect submitted to me payment authorizations during the job, and I paid them. Toward the end of the job, he told me Denis wanted a payment that was not yet due. Apparently. Denis, who was disorganized throughout the job, had forgotten that he was responsible under his contract for the cost of door hardware. He also complained that the doors, which were clearly identified in the plans he signed off on to be mahogany, had to be mahogany; He apparently didn't notice that, too. Not very professional. At that point, it appeared he ran his numbers and decided that the payments remaining to finish the job were less than he wanted, and so he simply walked off the job the next day. Since I had made all payments promptly prior to that point, he did not, nor could he, sue me, or put liens on the property for unpaid sums; instead I could have sued him. I decided not to spend my life in litigation and left him alone. I paid others to finish his job, spending a great deal. Years later i went to sell the townhouse, and was surprised to discover that his plumber had failed to do the final sign-off; a simple and minor procedure. My architect then contacted the plumber, who said that Denis ordered him (then and now) not to complete the last step. I then had to spend thousands to retain an expediter and find a plumber willing to come in to sign off on someone else's work (not an easy thing to do). The new plumber also noted Denis had failed to put an emergency shut off behind the gas stove (which is required by code). In summary, a horrible experience. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that you still feel disappointed. > > This particular project took place over two decades ago, and while we strive to leave every client satisfied, there were unresolved issues at the time—specifically related to a progress payment that had been reviewed and approved by your architect. Unfortunately, when that payment wasn’t made, it placed us in a difficult position and ultimately led to the project being paused. > > We understand that it’s frustrating when expectations aren’t met, even after all this time.
