The house was to be built as 'green' as possible within our budget. Working with Viridian was a pleasure. Terry Thornsbury designed the house incorporating our ideas, found local sources, provided insight and oversight during construction, helped with issues that inevitably arose, met with various vendors and contractors and subcontractors to get the project finished within our timeframe. We were happy to work with Viridian and would recommend the business to others seeking to build an energy efficient home or commercial building. **★ — theshaff78, June 2012** > Viridian was hired after a pretty extensive interview process. Once we were invoiced more then the quoted price to redraw a home plan we found online, we decided to cut our losses and go on our own. We ended up with a plan that was 20-25% unfinished. Viridian never followed up to see how, or if the project was going. We ended up paying over three times the quoted price after all invoices were received. In addition to paying way more then we first were told, Viridian summited a quote for surveying from a "trusted" surveyor, a company in the same office as Viridian. It was 4 times more than the company we selected on our own. **Comment from Viridian Architectural Design, Inc:** > This client hired Viridian to design a home for them out of a catalog. This is not something that we typically do. The client was very particular about every detail of the project and he had us spend many extra hours changing the "catalog design" by moving windows, walls, and furniture around in the drawings many times to "see what it looks like". He had a very difficult time making decisions. Our fee was based upon an hourly rate, so the fee continued to grow when decisions could not be made, or additional requests for revisions were made. Viridian explains the design process to each client in detail at the beginning of the project. If a client has difficulty making decisions then the cost for the design will increase. Viridian also entered into a design-build agreement with this client. The client and Viridian had selected a very reputable local contractor to team with us on the project. The client bid the project to a "buddy" of his without our knowledge and had him build the house instead of the contractor that was part of our design team. Once Viridian discovered what the client had done we ended our relationship with the client and terminated our services. We saw this an an unethical action by our client and wanted no part of it. Our design-build contractor received no compensation for his time and effort on the project.
