> I had a wonderful time with Paul and Dan. They asked thoughtful questions and left me with a great list of suggestions I can gradually implement according to time and budget to update my house. I especially appreciate the furniture placement diagrams, suggested sizes, and measurements as well as shopping and vendor recommendations. I highly recommend this service.

**Comment from room2improve:**

> Needed a catalyst for some of my ideas that needed a little 'polish'. Found that information and guidance with Dan and Paul. Dan was uncanny in how quickly he understood what I wanted. Paul was really strong on flooring. Really appreciated that they 'got' my direction and desires and elevated it all. Probably saved me some money from making mistakes. Will definitely be using them again.

**Comment from room2improve:**

> Thank you so much Charles. It was a pleasure working with you on your home.

> The beauty of working with room2improve is their thoughtfulness of respecting our individual taste but bringing it to the next level. They introduce new ideas, stretching our imagination, gently moving us slightly out of our comfort zone that creates excitement and makes us proud of the final outcome!

**Comment from room2improve:**

> Loved how they used methods to discover my STYLE; they improved/upgraded my style yet gave me fantastic new creative space!! I’m not even sure how this happened on my very tight budget. LOVE my new, improved place! It’s “me” but sooo much better than I could have thought of myself!

**Comment from room2improve:**

> Thank you so much for the wonderful review. It was fun working with you on your space!

We suggested to keep the grey, but add in green and aqua based on our discussions of what colors she liked. We arranged the space into…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Obsessed with this carpet!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Are you able to share the source?

A: Happy to share - it's a product from Fabrica called Visage.

**Q: Art above my couch** *(in Home Decorating)*

The picture below is from my family room. I know the art is too small for the couch however, it has sentimental value to both myself and my husband and he would really like it to remain . Is there anything I can use on each side of the picture that will make it appear larger and fit better. Thank you

A: We quite often encounter this issue and have found that re-matting and reframing into a larger piece works wonders. If you have a local frame shop they should be able to assist you in adding a larger mat and frame. Another options is to hang a larger empty frame around the already framed piece thus giving it the appearance of being bigger than it actually is.

**Q: Decorating Help** *(in Remodeling)*

I could really use some help with my living room. I have grey furniture and am using a teal/turquoise color as an accent and have attached their colors . I am stumped on what color to make the walls (brand and name would be most helpful) and what color tables to get. It is an open concept and the kitchen is white and gray cabinets. If you have any suggestions for wall color in the living space and table colors I would greatly appreciate it. I am at a loss this time.

A: cam72796 It is impossile to recommend an exact color, without seeing the furnishings in person and in your light, and even more impossible to choose from a picture. But the best thing you can do is to take a cushion from your sofa to a paint store and pull several swatches that might work, or even better buy a fan deck from a paint store and look at it in your home. We suggest Benjamin Mooore paint colors as they have more complex colors. Although Sherwin Williams does have some nice grey as well.

**Q: Pendants that work with our Chandelier?** *(in Lighting)*

Hello - We are in the process of building a craftsman home in Charlotte, NC :) Our home will have a traditional craftsman exterior, modern interior, open floor plan, with 10” ceilings. The dining room is directly connected to the kitchen. We have selected the following dining room chandelier (see below). However, I’m having a difficult time selecting coordinating island pendants without being to “matchy -matchy”. Our kitchen will have dark grey cabinets, with butcher block on the island countertop, and white veined quartz on the back countertops. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Below you will find the chandelier, and a similar kitchen/dining room from our builder....

A: At room2improve we consult on 30 to 50 kitchens a year. So we are always looking for coordinating pieces as well. You have picked out a beautiful chandelier already, so now try to coordinate finish, but don't try too hard to match. Keep it simple as well, as the chandelier has a of interest to it.

**Q: Small B&W Kitchen - Open Shelving vs Cabinets ideas?** *(in Remodeling)*

I am in the final project portion of my DIY (mostly) kitchen remodel. Pretty stoked on how things have come out so far. Ideas have have changed as different elements come into place. I am currently stuck on what to do on the sink side of the kitchen. The stove side is complete.
1\) Subway tile wall with open shelving? (Original plan) My concerns are that subway tile may be to "traditional" and clash with the stove backsplash? larger or stacked subway instead of staggard maybe?
2\) Black matte cabinets with glass doors (thinking chicken wire safety glass inserts)? If so maybe a more solid backsplash
3\) Light wood or white cabinet instead of matching black matte?
Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated.

A: Congrats. You have done a beautiful job so far. We consult on about 30 to 50 kitchens a year. Nice to see one as fun as this. Couple of points. Love the backsplash behind the stove. But any grease pops will hit the wall on either side. What if you do the white subway on either side of the backsplash you have and also on the sink side. It could be beautiful and functional. And since the tiles you have now are aligned, we would do the subway in a running pattern. (staggered) Love the visual idea of open shelving, if its fits your style and needs. And would love to see a little wood brought on to add a touch of warmth. Just look at the bit of warm color in the door mat, and imagine some of that warmth on the walls. And as far as the subway tile, it is totally fine to mix in a bit of traditional with the more contemporary pieces. This keeps the space eclectic and fresh, as well as more unique. Great job so far.
