## About

A resident of Jacksonville since 1960, Tony grew up on the Northside, and showed an early interest in art (particularly lettering and airbrushing); however, had no formal training until college.

After earning a B.A. in Art Education from Jacksonville University, he began teaching, but also working in a few area Sign Shops as a Sign Painter/ Artist, learning the skills that would soon be deemed obsolete with the introduction of the computer into the sign industry.

Several years of working in the area shops and frustration with the layoffs and school situations led Tony into business and he opened Ricardo Designs in 1992, a one-man operation specializing in working on difficult or unique custom jobs that other commercial shops didn’t take– most jobs that still required the skills of a painter, but also keeping abreast of computer skills required for modern sign shop operations. Over the years, Tony has tried to maintain a high quality to his work, offering value-conscious Layout, Design, Lettering, and Graphics for over 30 years.

Some of this work has been Nationally and Internationally recognized by peers in the industry– some highlights include: · six international awards (one overall First in 2003) in Sign Business Magazine’s Auto Art Contest · profiled in trade publication SignCraft Magazine · profiled in trade publication Auto Art Magazine · several project vehicles featured in publications such as Super Rod, Custom ClassicTrucks, Drag Racing Action · work at Super Bowl XL and XLV on installation team of Look and Décor .

Today, Tony continues to offer quality designs and traditional painting, along with the commercial sign and custom paintwork, and can occasionally be found teaching a drawing or calligraphy class through the church he attends.
