A: Agree with the comments above, it's better for function, for looks, etc if you can place it elsewhere. Here's a room in which we moved the microwave, notice how much it changed the room? And it's a more"open" space for the homeowner to cook too! **Q: Condo Area Rug** *(in Home Decorating)* Using natural rugs in my beach condo. Debating on size. LR measures 14x12. Would it be okay to lay a 14x10 or is the rug too big? A: 9 x 12 is probably the biggest you should go. A rug in a 9 x 12 section may actually measure as small as something like 8'10" x 11'8". Once it's down, with a good looking cocktail table, the floor will no longer demand attention. I have spent hours searching and reading, and I still am at a loss! Area rug selection has been one area of décor that drives me nuts! Here is a picture of my living room. Doing a little redecorating in my apt as my fiancé moves in soon - the couch is a dark graphite (matching love seat on its way), the walls are a dark taupe, and I use some blue décor items has an accent (throw pillow, coaster, etc). (ignore that the room is a bit out of sorts - the brown chaise, that is my roommates and going!). Ideas on area rug style or color that coordinate? I am most concerned with how to coordinate curtains with rug. I have considered new curtains too, something white with a subtle design. thanks!! A: I would price drapes to see whether you want to invest in them, since your current drapes could work. More important issues are larger art and better lamps, if possible a better/larger/more interesting cocktail table. I always recommend going in order of priority.
