Our goal at Houseplay is to inspire and enhance the beauty, comfort and function of a home.

We are careful not to dictate style to our clients. Diversity of design insures that we realize each client's ideal living environment.

"I believe one's home should be a deep reflection into who they are. People have opinions, tastes and needs, but sometimes have trouble articulating what they want when it comes to the style and design of their home. My job is to discover what those needs and desires are and translate them into textiles, colors, furniture, accessories, and most importantly, space plan. A good flow to a house can completely change the vibe and energy of a home. I also like to take my clients out of their comfort zones - giving them a new perspective and opening them up to new ideas and concepts." - Carrie Fundingsland, Owner

> I have nothing but the highest praise for Carrie Fundingsland of HOUSEplay Inc. She literally came into our project when it was down to the studs, and right away saved me from making a major (& costly) mistake in master bath renovation planning.
>
> Initially I was not sure I needed a designer, but her insight at critical steps along the way proved to be spot on. Our tiny (42 sf) master bath had to be quickly but carefully planned. I THOUGHT I knew what I was doing because I had done some remodeling & I'm addicted to HGTV, Houzz & Pinterest. But apparently I don't have the gene that allows me to properly visualize the end result, and that's where Carrie came in - to gently guide me through multiple decisions - never "taking over" but rather helping me to ultimately arrive at what turned out to be good decisions in a timely manner.
>
> Because the master bath was so tiny, there was NO room for error. For example, she helped guide us in selection & layout (placement) of: fixtures, tiling for shower, floor & walls; shower drain, windows, built-in medicine cabinet, lighting; vanity (purchased @ Houzz btw) & perhaps most importantly, helped us maximize storage in such a small room. She guided us in all these decisions, and we are MORE than thrilled with the result. Now everyone who sees our new bathroom wants to live here, no exaggeration. It is truly lovely - looks like a "pamper me" spa bathroom at a high end hotel.
>
> We hired her mainly as a consultant, to help us when we needed professional guidance & when we had questions. She was just the right mix of helpful when we needed help but not "taking over" and thereby allowing the plan to evolve organically. At first, I was reluctant to hire her as I had previously had a bad experience with a designer, but I am so glad we hired Carrie and would hire her again for any future project requiring design guidance. Thanks Carrie, for your excellent work!

> Carrie was a lifesaver during our extensive house remodel. She designed the kitchen and helped me choose paint colors and flooring. She made decision making easier by helping me define my style and guiding with her own impeccable taste. Carrie is a pleasure to work with. She has a calming manner that takes the stress out of remodeling. I highly recommend Carrie and HOUSEplay.

> My experience with Carrie has been stellar. She is creative, collaborative and straightforward and always keeps my tastes, preferences and budgets in mind. New and creative solutions to design challenges are her speciality and her solutions do not disappoint. She’s tackled my master bedroom and bath, kitchen, dining room, and most recently living room, a guest bath and floors, window treatments and lighting. Can’t wait to do the next project.

> I couldn't say enough good things about Carrie. She ensures that her clients vision comes to life. She is attentive to your needs and truly cares about the quality of work she does. I recommend her to anyone in need of an Interior Designer.

> Carrie Fundingsland is very knowledgeable about interior design. We have had the pleasure of working with her on several jobs in the past and she always maintains a professionalism about her. Carrie has a great eye for color schemes and goes above and beyond the call to leave customers with a home that they would be proud of. Her work speaks for itself. It is a delight to be brought in on her custom projects. She is one of the few interior designers who is available to answer any questions promptly and works with the customer from beginning to end.

## Community Q&A

**Q: What is the counter?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The countertops are honed Calacatta Gold marble.

**Q: GROUT??** *(in Photo Questions)*

Would love to know if you used grey or white grout with the Ann saks tiles. I'm trying to do something similar in my sons bathroom. Thanks so much in advance!!

A: I actually used two different grouts. Bright white with the brick tile and a light gray with the penny rounds. Good luck!

**Q: Table** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where is this table from?

A: This is a table I designed and had made specifically for this space.

**Q: what bath is this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The tub is from the early 20's, cast iron and original to the home. As part of the remodel, we had it resurfaced.

**Q: This is lovely. Can you tell me if this is a cast iron or acrylic tub?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the make and size of the bathtub? Thank you!

A: The tub is cast iron, original to the home. I had it resurfaced.

**Q: Livingroom** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I know I need to add some more colors and we are redoing the fireplace later but any ideas to make it look better?

A: Hello!! The coffee table and rug are way too small against the scale of your sofas. Adding a larger rug would certainly be an excellent way to bring in some color. A mirror or artwork opposite the window, will bring balance. The window panels look as if they are stacking on the window itself. Is this correct? Stacking the panels off the window will bring more light in and make your window look larger. I'm assuming they are store bought? If so, add two more panels. Good luck!
