**Q: Dresser into a vanity...now what?  Finish the top w varnish or marble?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are contemplating using this dresser for our bathroom vanity. It is amazing in person but I keep having second thoughts. It is 9 drawer and I wonder if I will miss having at least two doors underneath? Also what tile would work well with this color...I dont want to overwhelm the room w the blue, only as a accent. And lastly, what to do with the top? Seal it w varnish and leave the blue or get a marble top? My budget is going to the bathroom remodel so trying to be smart but stylish :) HELP!

A: I vote for the marine varnish top if you decide to go with a vessel sink, but a marble/stone/quartz would be better if you decide against a vessel sink, so that you can do an undermount sink.

**Q: Wood or Tile Baseboard in Bathrooms??** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am renovating 2 bathrooms in my home and have chosen an 18x18 polished porcelain tile for the floors installing on a diagonal. I am not tiling the walls. So here is my dilemma: do I use wood baseboards painted out white, or cut the tile and make the baseboard out of them? Thanks!!

A: @krlaplant According to tile-setting standards, all changes in plane and/or material should be caulked, not grouted. So the joint between tile floor and tile (or any) base should be caulked.

**Q: Best Vacuum? - Share your recs!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Have you found the perfect vacuum? Did you go through 3 or 4 before you found what works best for your home?  Which one is the best?

A: We bought a Dyson upright, and while the suction is good, the rest of the design is terrible! The moveable parts (like the removable canister that you empty) feel cheap and not very durable. The thing itself is a hideous example of industrial design gone wrong. I certainly don't need it to be four different colors! The wand with attachments Is cumbersome to use. It's also quite heavy.  Wouldn't buy it again.

**Q: Help! Need a Layout for this Living Room!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello, I am having the hardest time trying to come up with an efficient layout for this living room. The focal point is the fireplace/ tv mounted above it. Directly behind is the dining room table. I am open to any suggestions or ideas. All furniture is being sold, aside from the blue and green accent chair and the Saarinen table. These (2) pieces are what I am building this room around.

A: The room appears large enough, so I would definitely pull the pieces (regardless of what you buy new vs reuse) off the walls towards the center of the room.  You want to have a more cohesive conversation area. If you are going to have the sofa face the tv/fireplace, I'd recommend a console table behind it, otherwise, it's a bit more inviting to now have the back of the sofa facing the rest of the space.
