The initial consultation was good and I signed with them to install Marmoleum flooring in my kitchen, laundry room and two bathrooms. They said the install would take 3 days and they would contact me after they received the material to schedule the install. I paid a deposit and waited... and waited. A month and a half later I called to ask about the delay and lack of update. I was told that all of their installers had quit and that they were behind (big red flag). After a few more weeks they scheduled a crew from Victorville to install (red flag). I had asked the salesman to do the bathrooms in different stages so that there would be at least one toilet at all times. He assured me that would not be a problem. I mentioned the staging to the workers but they didn't follow it. There were two days with no toilets in the house. After the third day of work I noticed something in the bathtub drain; it was poop! The workers were using the tub as a toilet! They also were not done after 3 days and the workers were being pulled away to do other scheduled work while my house was un-finished. I called repeatedly over the next two days to get them to work at my house. After five days they called it done but there were lots of issues. Parts of the flooring were bubbling up, there were seams with gaps, seams that were not even and level. Over the next few months they would suddenly call and ask if the could come right then or the next morning to try a different glue or technique. I work full time so it was really inconvenient to take so much time off. Every time they came they were coming from another job and would track dirt and glue all over the house. After so many visits and the floor showing no signs of improvement I said I was done and I did not want to continue. The final time they were here they left heavy stone pieces all over the floor as weights with no instructions on how long they were to stay. It took 3 days for them to be picked up during which time the bathroom doors could not be shut and we had to constantly watch where we were walking to avoid stubbing our toes. In the end the floor looks terrible and I wasted a lot of time/money. I asked for my deposit back and I never heard from them. I contractors I have talked to say that the flooring will have to be removed to fix it. Needless to say, I do not recommend this company. **★★★★★ — Richard Roberts, Dec. 2017** > I first met Marge shortly after moving to SoCal, when I needed to find out which engineered wood floor material had been installed in my now-new house. I needed to make some changes that required small areas of the floor to be replaced. In short order, the wood had been identified and the flooring repaired around the modifications. A few years later we decided to remove most of the carpet on the first floor using this same wood flooring. This is how I met Mike, the other owner of Old Town Flooring and Stan the installation crew chief. A prompt and excellent job was done. Another few years, and we wanted to install the same wood in the master bedroom and master closet. This time Marge advised that the wood we had been using would shortly be discontinued, so we purchased the remaining inventory. The master bedroom floor looked OK with carpet, but clearly needed remedial work to present a level wood floor. Again Mike and Stan and their skilled installation crew did their customary excellent job. Fast forward to the present. We had changed the front & rear staircases from carpet to wood, and decided to replace all the remaining carpet in the house with wood. Marge helped find an engineered wood flooring product from another manufacturer that was basically the same material (Maple), the same width and thickness and with similar hand scraping. However the standard stain colors, while close, did not match the 1/2 house full of the previous product. Marge expedited a custom stain run on 1,900 sq. ft. to provide a new supply of very closely matching engineered flooring. Mike and Stan and crew then took over and installed the new flooring in approximately 8 days. There was some tricky fitting involved, around the top of a spiral staircase while matching the orientation and spacing of the adjacent master bedroom. Not to mention having the installed wood adjacent to the walls in the hallway and multiple rooms line up straight and with boards centered in the respective rooms. Quite a bit of math involved. As in the master bedroom, there were portions of the floor that needed leveling. Stan remarked that this was the first job he had done where the wood installation needed to start where he customarily would finish. The entire 2nd floor is on 12mm cork, needed to match the level of the flooring in the master bathroom. This, and 25 lbs. of deck screws produced a silent floor as regards absence of squeaks. This is the finest floor installation I have ever seen. We are major Old Town Flooring fans here. Mike has also expanded the business to include installation of stone counter-tops; and did a nice job on our new laundry room counter top. More work is planned, as we are currently renovating the kitchen. We would not think of going anywhere else for the counter tops, new tile floor and back splash. We also installed premium Mannington vinyl in our utility room and bath. We talked to several flooring contractors and stores including big box stores like HD and Lowes. We hired a great general contractor to remodel the kitchen but decided to have the flooring completed by a separate contractor. We talked with Russ Leeman at Old Town Flooring and they were very helpful. We took home many samples of engineered flooring and vinyl. We really like the idea and look of Eco by corsentino but seems to have mixed reviews on cracking, chips, and staining. Looking for folks who have had it for a while.... A: We have had zero problems with Eco or any other quartz product. As long as it is polished properly at the time of fabrication/installation, and as long as you care for it per manufacturer's recommendations, you should be fine. We have even tested a piece of quartz on our deck, at the beach, in full sun, and it is fine (that is NOT an approved use, by the way, but the fact that it has held up is important to note). Most anything that you spill on it can be cleaned easily with soap and water, granite cleaner, Windex, etc. For more stubborn stains, products like Soft Scrub are great. You may need to follow up with granite/quartz cleaner and polish afterward, though. Don't be afraid of quartz...just be sure to use a qualified, licensed contractor to do the work!! **Q: What stain is the tigerwood is it Natural? Have an item \# for it** *(in Photo Questions)* Is the floor tigerwood muiracatiara engtw51/4 A: This Tigerwood is "natural", and unfortunately, was discontinued several years ago. It is a wood species that has been over-forested and is not currently available. **Q: Is this Mannington laminate?** *(in Photo Questions)* Is this the Restoration Collection? A: Yes, this was Mannington Restorations laminate. **Q: Tigerwood** *(in Photo Questions)* Is this pre finished or site finished? Also what color stain was used. A: This is a factory-finished floor, and the species is Tigerwood. The color is natural, no stain. It will generally "amber" with exposure to light, so get much redder. However, this house has strong UV protection in all windows, so the change has been minimal.
