**★★★★★ — Lindsey, Dec. 2023**

> We had the absolute best experience with NRC Homes. Our project was not only on budget but was also on time. They helped us optimize both our design and our layout. They were experts to help navigate through the endless decisions when doing home renovations. We avoided many design pitfalls and got the most for our budget. We extended our top floor by adding two bathrooms and bedroom as well as remodeling our main floor design and kitchen. I would highly recommend them for any home renovation or improvement.

**★★★★★ — User, Dec. 2023**

> NRC Homes did a wonderful job constructing our residence. We feel very lucky to have worked with their team.

**★★★★★ — Cait M, Dec. 2023**

> We worked with the NRC team for our complete home remodel (down to the studs, lifted basement, and 3rd-floor addition to the home) and we LOVE the work. Anatoliy, Alexander, and Stephanie were very professional and we've already referred them to other family and friends. We trusted them so much that we had them come back for our second big project of remodeling our detached garage.

**★★★★★ — Laura Stern, Aug. 2017**

> I can't thank enough N&R Construction - now NRC Homes - (onwers, Anatoliy and Alexander) for not only saving me from a prior remodel contractor that went awry, but also for the excellent work they and their outstanding crew did on the rest of my house. They finished the job left undone and then did a remodel on the main floor of my house, including new windows, siding, roof and gutters, new attic storage and stairs, painting (inside and out), new fireplace, porch, and new electrical. Their entire crew was considerate and respectful. Communication between N&R Construction was excellent and the entire process was on time and on budget. To this day I miss having the N&R Construction crew at my house. In fact, one of my neighbors across the street heard one of the crew shout out, 'I love my job,' and that's become a catch-phrase in my neighborhood. My remodel was an amazingly wonderful experience.

> Hired NR Construction for my Custom Home Build. They were able to provide immediate estimate and timeline. They were competitively priced and highly recommended. They built us a 10,000ft2 custom dream home. They were recommended by Viceroy Homes, a Custom home panelized company that is popular in the Northwest. Viceroy homes have preferred builders who know how to put up their models. NR construction was able to build our home on time and on budget. The site was always clean and organized. They use quality Subcontractors. Alexander and Anatoliy were very professional in their dealings with us. Their concrete specialist Alberto was excellent as well. They have been responsive on troubleshooting and warranty issues.

**★★★★ — John Laplante, Aug. 2017**

> NRC completed a second story renovation for us and I was very happy with the value they offered in their work. Alexander and Anatoliy were fair in their negotiations , and they completed a very complicated project on time while meeting my budget expectations. I would work with them again and recommend them to anybody looking to complete a significant renovation. My only suggestion for other owners is to communicate clearly with their team throughout construction - in retrospect I wish I had been clearer about some of the architectural details I was hoping to see (for example hand rails, etc.).

**★★★★★ — Jeff Pelletier, May 2016**

> I’m an Architect who hired NRC to complete a complicated whole-house remodel on my 1902 home. Architects are likely some of the scariest clients for a General Contractor and NRC performed admirably and professionally. The level of craftsmanship is outstanding and I always felt like their team truly cared for the project and went out of their way to make things spectacular. They have an eye for detail, were always appropriately flexible (as any good general contractor should be), and provided an outstanding value. I have lived in the house now for several years and can strongly recommend them.

**Comment from NRC HOMES:**

> Jeff: thank you for your comments and kind words. We loved the challenges that your house posed and thoroughly enjoyed working with you. We are very pleased with the results.

 - Description: When we started work, this was a slightly shabby one-story house that still retained traces of its original beauty. We raised the first floor by two feet (allowing us to achieve a full 8-foot ceiling height in the basement, where we built a complete mother-in-law unit) and added a second-story addition. We filled the house with custom built-in shelving, bookcases, cabinetry, banisters, columns, and ceiling details to bring the Craftsman-style beauty back to life.

 - Location: Seattle, WA
 - Photos: 19
 - Description: This North Seattle house was another fun project for us to build. We particularly enjoyed the lovely marble tile in the primary bath, the fun tile patterns in the main kitchen, and the finishing touches downstairs in the ADU (accessory dwelling unit or mother-in-law apartment).
- [Remodel with Addition \| Morning Light Tudor](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/remodel-with-addition-morning-light-tudor-pj-vj~7339600)
 - Location: Not specified
 - Photos: 12
 - Description: The challenge with remodeling the second story of this Tudor-style home in Seattle was staying within the lines of the elements the homeowners wanted to preserve -- the beautiful brick facade; the stairs to the second story; the wood-burning fireplace -- while transforming two small existing bedrooms and unfinished attic space into a bright and spacious master suite, a kids' bathroom, and two light-filled children's rooms. From the outside, the division between the ridgeline of the original roof…

 - Description: This is another home we built designed to give flexible living spaces to the homeowners. The homeowners can use the ground floor ADU (accessory dwelling unit) as a mother-in-law apartment, a rental unit, or simply extra space for themselves! The upper two floors have an open plan living area, lots of bedrooms, and a spacious primary suite.
- [Basement Remodel \| North Beach](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/basement-remodel-north-beach-pj-vj~7339613)
 - Location: Seattle, WA
 - Photos: 7
 - Description: This charming 1937 North Beach cottage had seen some good - and bad -upgrades over the years. Now it was time for us to add to the mix! Working within a limited budget, we were able to take a half-finished basement with a space-hogging gas furnace and convert it into a family room; a two-person home office; a laundry nook with drop-down ironing board; a bedroom with a walk-in closet; a bathroom with a big walk-in shower; and a sauna. We replaced the gas furnace with an exterior heat pump and ins…

 - Location: Seattle, WA
 - Photos: 37
 - Description: We built this open and airy home to catch the sunset and the breathtaking views west towards the Olympic Mountains. Each level opens to a deck, and each deck is protected by a roof (sometimes it rains in Seattle!) with a beautiful cedar soffit. This home is designed for flexibility; the ground-floor level is an attached ADU (accessory dwelling unit), while the upper two levels constitute the main house. We had a lot of fun with the details here: each bathroom has its own tile scheme; the central…

 - Description: NRC Homes completed this "whole house" remodel of a 1902 home in one of Seattle's older neighborhoods. During the remodel, we dug down, lowering the basement floor and replacing the foundation. We preserved the character of this beautiful old house, matching and replicating some of the original millwork.

 - Description: The original owner of this Ballard home dating from the 1940s was the present owner's grandmother! NRC Homes added a second story-addition to "grandma's house" and remodeled the interior. Architect Dan Malone of Soundesign Group designed a beautiful addition to and remodel of the original one-story house while preserving its traditional character. The house now gives the owners the space and functionality that they needed while fitting in the Ballard neighborhood.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love the kitchen cabinetry!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you provide details of where made and wood/stain. Thank you!

A: Hi! The cabinetry was custom-made for this house. The exposed frames of the cabinets (and the open cubbies surrounding the tall white pantry cabinets) are Douglas fir. We used a clear coating in matte -- no stain -- because we wanted the natural color of the wood to come through. The faces of the drawers are a different species: white oak. We also used a clear coating in matte on the white oak. We used these two species consistently throughout the house; in this picture you can see Douglas fir window trim and a Douglas fir glulam beam, and you can see white oak flooring. Thank you for your question! We're glad you like the cabinetry.

**Q: what color is this siding? brand?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What color is this siding? Brand?

A: The siding here is cedar tongue & groove, 1x4, installed vertically. It is stained with Auson Black Pine Tar, mixed with linseed oil.

**Q: Island size?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Beautiful-what's the size of the island?

A: 4' X 8'

**Q: What kind of wood is this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

?

A: Wallnut

**Q: What is the dimension of the bar top?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I believe it was 2' X 8'

**Q: Would you please tell me who made the cabinetry? Thanks so much!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Truly fantastic home--well done! We are trying to put together a transitional remodel, and possibly built-ins for the bedroom. The whole look is very clean--love the subways, and the basement is stunning! If only I had that level of lego organization when my boys were little--congratulations! PS I'm also in Seattle:-)

A: Cabinetry was designed by the architect- who is the owner of the house and his cabinet maker did the cabinets. We can repeat the success if you have a project?!
