Not to mention they were a day late and refused a refund on their promise. > I had a highly professional mold remediator come in to provide a quote based on the report that MIT provided and it was stated that the report was the worst he had ever encountered. > My recommendation is to RUN from MIT. There are plenty of other qualified and proficient providers. This company does not background check, train or certify their Inspectors. They falsify tests for commercial accounts. Non disclosure while Inspector is on site to show employees someone was there testing for whatever they are worried about. Carbon monoxide issues or HAZMAT areas treated for mold exposure?! I quit with integrity, paid $45 dollars to send back their equipment and provided a tracking number. Today I was supposed to receive my last check worth $1,281.00 and haven't heard back from the owner or HR/ accounting. I have sent them written communication demanding payment for services rendered. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY. Inspectors have zero to little experience and who knows their background or history. We were referred to this group from our home inspector (who we really liked) prior to purchasing our condo, so we skipped a thorough vetting / due dilligence of reviews online, and scheduled an inspection in the first available slot adue to the tight timeline. > > We had five days to conduct the test, intepret the results, and make a decision on the purchase contract (based on the results and our willingness to tackle any problems should the results indicate any). > > All of this was conveyed to the inspector in person. We paid to have our results expedited - we got the results the next business day, so no complaints there. > > The results came back with some elevated readings. Based on the results we then realized we needed some context on the readings (outside of our own research online) - i.e., an opinion, help in understanding the severity, maybe some reference points based on a professional's experience (crazy, right?). > > We called multiple times (at least five) and conveyed the urgency - just trying to get someone (preferably the inspector) to get into contact with us to discuss the results (10 minute convo, max). We never got a call back. At one point I was told "He has a very busy schedule so he will call you when he has some free time". > > At the end of the day we were able to cobble together opinions, estimates, and some perspective after doing a lot of legwork on our own. Given the science and considerable amount of grey area in this field my review is based on the assumption that most people are going to have very similar, very basic questions after any results beyond the simple "Yes/No" report-out that the inspection yields. It just blows my mind that the level of follow-up, after we called multiple times requesting it, was zero. I had to threaten lawsuit to the subcontractor in order to get a report that had my name on it, and that was 2-3 months after I first contracted with MIT, which was already a month too late. When I would call the company the customer service reps pretended to be management, and had the WORST customer service experience, and were very rude. They kept telling my that 9 times the mold inside my unit was not an issue, yet the subcontractor they partnered with said it was a very big deal and contributed to my constant illness. I have various recorded conversation, and documentation as I am still seeking litigation against this company.... if you don't live in IL, don't contract with them!
