From the moment I arrived at the CT Valley Homes Office with my house "plan" drawn on a blank piece of paper, to the conceptual designs and ultimately the delivery and finish, the CT Valley team treated my home as if they were moving in! There are those who are skeptical about modular construction and that is misdirected. Modular construction allows for a home that is environmentally aware and aesthetically pleasing. I am in Newport RI and i had a challenging small lot but a dream to have enough space for guests, a roof deck outdoor space to enjoy the harbor breezes, and space for an office-- all while staying in my (small) budget. Newport weather is often wet and cold - my home is toasty warm and my bills are nominal! Why? Because of the construction. By way of example we contracted tohave grade a blue label cedar shingle siding but then applied grade b red label and tried to convince us that a and b were one and the same. only after a month long email exchange did he capitulate and refund the difference , He was hoping to charge for one and install an inferior grade and pocket the savings. > the roofing subs he used were novices and applied the roofing shingles incorrectly. the Shingles started blowing off nearly immediately. He had the subs " remedy the roof " , To date, shingles are still blowing off as of last week due to "High Nailing". Contacted the CVH owner and Mr Wldermuthe offers apologies and nothing else . > His solution " Your warranty with Conn Valley ran out some years ago" You should go after the manufacturer for product defect . Dr. Dolphin is correct about the issues that arose during and after the construction of his home. As in times past, we are open to address any concerns that may arise years after the paint dries. Dr. Dolphin reported that two shingles came loose on his five year old roof/home. Within a couple of days we replaced the two shingles and inspected the rest of the roof which appeared to be intact and secure. We have not shied away from servicing our former customers even after the warranty period has expired. We decided to contact Connecticut Valley Homes (CVH) about the cost of a modular home and found we could have a brand new home for the equivalent of purchasing a used ‘money pit’ (note – land price to build a new home was a big factor for this project and we were fortunate enough to find a reasonably priced piece of land). > > Why modular and Connecticut Valley Homes? > If you have any preconceptions about a modular house being cookie cutter, forget them. Through Connecticut Valley Homes (CVH) we were able to design a completely custom home with all the benefits of the modular construction process and professional expertise of CVH. > > • We needed to have a known cost. With CVH you start with a base price and can then upgrade from there. What I appreciated about CVH is that their base price products are not bottom of the line but good quality mid-range products. You then go through a color and product selection process where you can choose from a range of included products or decide to upgrade. This process was made very manageable by visiting their East Lyme design center where you can see model homes and the options available. You are provided detailed cost updates throughout the process so you know exactly what the costs would be. > • We needed to have a predictable move in date. We couldn’t risk the potential delays of traditional stick built e.g weather related. CVH commits to a house delivery window upon signing-off on the final paper work and then an on-site finishing schedule. From our first meeting with CVH to moving into the house was 1 year. It could have been shorter, but there was an extended period of time getting permits due to wetland considerations on our property. > > Other considerations with Connecticut Valley Homes > • CVH have a team of on-staff experienced professionals to help you through the process, from design, working with the bank and on-site finishing. In particular, working with Dave Cooper out of their Fairfield CT office was a great experience. He was our primary point of contact and was there to guide us through the entire process, responsive to communications and very personable. > • CVH connected us with a great general contractor, Dave Richards, who they work with on a regular basis, resulting in a seamless coordination between all the site work needs (septic, foundation, well etc.) and the house delivery and finishing needs. > • CVH are committed to making sure you are satisfied with the final product. There were a few items that needed modifying or fixing once the house was delivered. CVH took care of it all. A: I'm sorry that I wasn't able to find out what flooring this is. This home was built by Ritz-Craft, but not Connecticut Valley Homes. This flooring was supplied and installed locally by the owner. We tried to contact the builder for you, but he has not responded yet. Ritz-Craft builds a great product and I know you will love your new home. **Q: great wall color?
