**★★★★★ — Missy Wyant Smit, Jan. 2018**

> Rob Stiles is a top notch architect who cares about his clients and his work. I have met and worked with many architects as I have been selling real estate in San Francisco for 15 years. We hired Rob to be the architect for our home and we had a great experience. He is responsive, easy to work with, accommodating, practically minded, creative and we really enjoy his personality! We began the work on a real “fixer” and moved in nine months later. Rob was instrumental at keeping the project moving and educating us about the process. He acted as our advocate and approaches his work and dealing with contractors and subs in a fair and thoughtful manner. We are so grateful to have worked with Rob and would recommend him to any of our friends or family. We will be hiring Rob for our next project without a doubt.

**★★★★★ — Colby C, Dec. 2017**

> We had a terrific experience working with Rob on a large scale renovation project. Rob managed all aspects of technical details behind his thorough design. His ideas were innovative and he made smart recommendations and encouraged us in all of the right directions on decisions. I fully trusted Rob's aesthetic and suggestions. Rob was critical in all aspects of the remodel -- design, interaction with the contractor, engineers, subcontractors, exterior hardscape design... all the way down to smaller details such as material selections. Rob was conscientious about budget as well. Rob made an overwhelming project seem manageable and even enjoyable.

**★★★★★ — Kathy Swindle, Nov. 2017**

> We were referred to Rob by two different friends for our kitchen remodel a few years ago. Rob came up with the most functional plan that was smart and utilized the space to it's maximum potential. We loved and appreciated working with Rob not only for his professionalism and design aesthetic but also because he is incredibly approachable, friendly, offers great advice and is very mindful of our budget. Since our kitchen remodel Rob has also designed a breezeway addition that could be my favorite room in our house and we are now working with him on plans to remodel our second floor and master bedroom and bath. I have referred Rob to a number of friends that have also been very happy with his work and I think we would all agree that he truly keeps his clients best interests in mind.

**★★★★★ — A M, Nov. 2017**

> We worked with Rob on 3 home projects. Two were around 5,000 sq ft projects. One was a down to the studs remodel, another was a remodel of a ski house in Utah and the final was building a sound proof music room for my husband.
> Rob is very easy to work with. He is very responsive and attentive to his projects. He makes you feel like you are his only client (even though I know he is very busy).
> He has a great eye for detail and I was able to trust him on design related decisions. His billing is always fair. I have recommended him to many friends and they are all pleased with his work as our we. We have just hired him to help with another remodel project for my parents.

**★★★★★ — ciptoma, Dec. 2014**

> We hired Rob to for a kitchen, family room, mudroom, and backyard renovation. We found Rob on Houzz and really liked his aesthetic and the look and feel of his other projects. He provided valuable input and advice but was never pushy - rather he was great about gently guiding us through. We are very happy with the outcome of our project - he really delivered an indoor and outdoor space that is super functional and looks great. Best of all, Rob is very easy to work with and really made an effort to understand what we were hoping to accomplish. He took our input seriously and was also flexible when we wanted to make changes or threw out other specifications. We would definitely recommend Rob!

> Rob worked with us to remodel our kitchen and master bath. Our kitchen and bathroom have turned out better than I could have imagined. His design ideas made our small bathroom feel bigger and is now like the high end spa everyone desires. The redo of the kitchen has given me more storage, more light and greater functionality. The kitchen is beautiful beyond my expectations.

> We have worked with Rob for several years now on a few projects and he always does an amazing job. In addition to being an extremely talented architect, he is very easy to work with. We completely gutted our kitchen and Rob oversaw the entire project while we were away. I had assumed that we would need to hire a kitchen designer along with an architect, but Rob was able to design a beautiful and also incredibly functional kitchen. Having lived with our new kitchen for over 2 years now, there isn't a single thing I would change. He has a great aesthetic and was also extremely helpful in picking out hardware, lighting, and appliances. We have also had him work on the outside of our house and he is currently working on several bedrooms, bathrooms and an office. Rob is very efficient and detail oriented - his drawings are very thorough which always helps make the projects go smoothly.

## Community Q&A

**Q: What is the material that you used on the counter top?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the material that you used on the counter tops? Is it a quartz or painted wood? I was planning on quartz, but it will take a custom metal frame to brace the weight due to my custom design.

Also, I love your chairs. Would you please share with me the manufacturer. The appearance is not bulky and looks great with your custom work.

Thanks so much

A

A: Hi. The counters are painted wood. It is a shop applied pigmented conversion varnish so it is pretty tough. The chairs are Eames Management chairs.

**Q: what brand of window is this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Ritu. Those are Fleetwood. In fact those are technically doors sized and used as windows. They are the 3070 line.

**Q: Is the desk option custom?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is the desk completely custom, or did you purchase cabinets and then mount the desk on top?

A: Those cabinets and the work surface were custom made for the room. I think you could get a very similar look by using manufactured cabinets and maybe have a custom painted wood counter made over them. That would probably cost less than fully custom

**Q: Backsplash** *(in Photo Questions)*

What material is the backsplash? Looks great

A: Those are 3x6 beveled marble tiles.

**Q: What is color is the yellow paint?** *(in Photo Questions)*

The yellow paint is just beautiful.

A: That is the same paint as the rest of the walls with the yellow of the undercabinet lights on it. Unfortunately I don't know the spec on that color.

**Q: mirror** *(in Photo Questions)*

could you please tell me who makes the mirrors, and do they come in a larger size? thank you

A: That is from Restoration Hardware. It is the Dillon and comes in a few sizes.
