> We have just completed a kitchen/bathrooms/ family room renovation with Artisan Kitchens and we are thrilled with the result. Amy was able to take our ideas and preferences, add her own design talent, and come up with a finished product that is stunning! A complication of this project was that we were living overseas at the time, so we only had a limited number of face to face meetings.Despite this, the project was completed in a timely and cost effective way. Amy is a great listener and we trusted her professionalism as well as her vision. She was a joy to work with and we would wholeheartedly recommend her

**★★★★★ — Dan & Karen DeSantis, Sept. 2017**

> The design, quality, and installation of our kitchen was beyond expectations. We couldn't have asked for a better team than Amy and Steve. Amy is very professional and patient. She refined the design with continued communication until we were happy with both the layout and the details that were important for function. Because of her many years of design experience, she took our ideas and wish list and turned it into the most beautiful kitchen. Steve is a true perfectionist with his installation skills and took time to make sure every cut was square and level. We couldn't be happier with our new kitchen! We highly recommend them to design and install your dream kitchen!

> I highly recommend Amy and Artisan Kitchens in Osterville, MA. Her experience and knowledge made our new build kitchen and bar a dream. Amy listened to what we wanted and had great ideas and advice. She was able to direct me when I wasn't quite sure what direction I wanted and never pushy, always professional. Her attention to detail every step of the way is wonderful. We are so happy with our new kitchen and Amy was a big part of that.

> My husband and I wanted a contemporary kitchen in a very small space on Cape Cod, where most kitchens are white and traditional. Amy was able to completely capture our vision and give us exactly what we wanted and provide the space we needed. She was able to discern our needs as our ideas evolved and was able to focus us into the direction we ultimately chose. We were extremely happy with Amy and her installers and love our kitchen. Amy walked us thru every step of the project from the conception of the kitchen, cabinetry, appliances, counter top, and hardware and also lighting.

**Comment from Artisan Kitchens Inc.:**

> Thank you so much - we had a great time working together and it was really refreshing to do something a little different from what is considered to be the 'usual' style for this area! I hope you enjoy every minute in your new home.

> Great Design. Awesome kitchen. We’re cookin.’
> If you’re overwhelmed with the choice of kitchen designers on Cape Cod or anywhere else, let me make it easy for you. Amy Britton at Artisan Kitchens in Osterville, MA is a terrific designer who listens carefully to your ideas and is then able to create a kitchen design that is literally jaw dropping even when your budget is somewhat limiting. She is dedicated to making your wishes come true if at all possible. But she is also able to come up with creative ideas when your desires just don't fit. The Artisan kitchen team is meticulous, on time and inspired. And there are no cost surprises. Amy's ability to visualize the project prevents her customers from making disastrous decisions. We trusted her judgement completely. If you tend to be overwhelmed by the whole process, Amy is the one for you. Often if we were unsure about one of our choices (like size of pendants, amount of light needed), we went with her thoughts on how it would best fit into the whole design. We literally worked together. Our kitchen is completed. We would not change one thing about the finished product. We start the day with a cup of coffee just gazing at the result and find many excuses just to walk in and (figuratively) pat everyone involved on the back.

**Comment from Artisan Kitchens Inc.:**

> I'd love to come have coffee with you so we can gaze at our mutual handiwork together :-)

> We chose Artisan Kitchens to remodel our kitchen on Cape Cod. Amy had really great ideas and our kitchen turned out contemporary but classic, and very functional. Amy was open to changing plans when we wanted to open up the space even more and she came up with practical ways to include more storage with less wall space. I was also very impressed with her attention to detail. In the end, I was very satisfied with the quality of work Amy provided and her effort to keep the project running smoothy and in a timely manner.

**Comment from Artisan Kitchens Inc.:**

> Thank you ever so much, it was a true pleasure working with you.

**★★★★★ — sdk42937, March 2014**

> Artisan Kitchens did an excellent job of remodeling our kitchen and master bath from design to the finished rooms. I never imagined our house could be transformed, as our new kitchen has changed the look and feel of our whole house. And, everything really does match our style. Amy and Steve Britton made sure that everything was just what we wanted. The initial design was radically different from what we thought would work and without that design expertise, we would probably have ended up with an update but not a big change in our living space and use. And, Amy and Steve were great to work with.

**★★★★★ — Michelle Jacoby, Changing Spaces, June 2013**

> I recommended Artisan Kitchens for two clients who wanted to re-do their kitchen. Amy was very respectful of my clients wishes. We worked together to give the client their dream kitchen.
>
> Artisan Kitchens was on time, on budget and a pleasure to work with. More importantly, the both clients were extremely happy with the completed project. I would certainly recommend them for any type of custom wood work project and of course their specialty a new kitchen.

**★★★★★ — paulabmf, March 2013**

> I just completed a major kitchen remodel. I found Amy while looking on houzz and loved her designs. She was amazing through the entire process from design through implementation. This is my fifth kitchen remodel and by far my best experience. She brought great ideas and was very easy to work with. Would highly reccomend!! -

**★★★★★ — lahesse, Dec. 2012**

> Amy designed a new kitchen as part of an extensive redesign to the layout of our living space including, foyer, dining room, kitchen, powder room and living room. She is a creative professional with a great sense of style and a unique ability to blend her client's taste and preferences with the functional design and a beautiful aesthetic. Amy was patient and encouraging and respected the project's budget limits.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Where did you find the hardware** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I'm not sure if you mean the nickel hardware or the 'dog bones' but if you do mean the dog bones, those are cutouts, not hardware.
The nickel hardware can be found on sites like Top Knobs or Atlas Homewares.

**Q: Is this Absolute Black honed countertop color enhanced and/or sealed?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I've been told that honed in this color typically looks more grey and dull, but your picture doesn't look that way.

A: Hi Dee,
This Absolute Black is definitely sealed - as it always should be, because otherwise it shows every mark and fingerprint. The act of sealing it automatically deepens the color a little bit - in person, this stone is a very dark charcoal gray/soft black.
Natural stones will always vary in shade; if you want something that will remain consistent, take a look at some of the quartz/engineered stone offerings that are out now that will give you that same look without any of the maintenance. Silestone 'Carbono' is just one that I can think of, and there are many others.

**Q: Lighting.** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love your island pendants and your pendant over the sink! Please tell me name of them and where you got them. Thanks

A: Hi,
So glad you like the pendants - they are great, aren't they? Unfortunately they are all antique fixtures that have been refurbished so are pretty much one of a kind.
If you Google 'antique holophane factory lights' you might find something close.
Good luck!

**Q: How do you treat the soapstone?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I've read conflicting reviews about the maintainence of soapstone (must oil vs don't oil). What do you think? LOVE your kitchen. It's beautiful.

A: Hi,

This particular soapstone countertop has been oiled repeatedly.
The only way to keep soapstone dark is to apply some sort of coating, otherwise it will default to a light chalky gray color and you lose the definition of any veining, etc. Of course some people love that lighter color so it's all a matter of preference.
You're correct that there are options: oiling, waxing, or applying a chemical sealer. The traditional way is to use mineral oil, which to my mind is the most food-safe as well. The downside is that you have to keep re-applying it regularly, but most of my soapstone people don't seem to mind the maintenance.
Bear in mind that an oiled or otherwise sealed soapstone countertop will camouflage stains far better than an unsealed one, which will show everything that drops on it, especially if it is oily (like mayonnaise, for example).
Thank you for the compliment, the kitchen is not mine but the people who own it do love it!

**Q: Hello,** *(in Photo Questions)*

Will you, please, provide the details of the beverage fridge at the end of the island?

A: The fridge is a SubZero UC24B 'beverage fridge'. It fits into a 24" space and has a rack for wine at the top and space for other drinks below.
http://www.subzero-wolf.com/sub-zero/counter-refrigerator/24-inch-undercounter-beverage-center-panel-ready

**Q: Love the cabinets. What color are they?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Carol,
Thank you for the compliment!
They're really just a warm white with no gray undertones. There are many standard colors that would approximate this look, you would have to investigate the offerings of the particular cabinetry you'll be using if you want to duplicate it :-)
