Gorgeous hardwood floors, custom built-in bookshelves, a skylight, and a walk-in closet. The work went on a bit longer than we anticipated, but that was partly because we added on some extras like the skylight and bookshelves. The crew that worked on the project was friendly and hard-working.  Vincent personally was kind enough to look at a problem we had with a gutter on the outside of the house for no extra charge!! ## Community Q&A

**Q: Renovation** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where was this project done? What was the original sq footage of the house and the added square footage? Where is the bathroom? More than 1 bathroom? I am having a very similar job done, we won't be hitting but definitely adding to the back. Thank you.

A: This project is in the Highlands Louisville.  House was about 1200 sq ft and we added around 600 sq ft on the back.  Remodel now has 3.5 baths. Previous house had 1.

**Q: Classic Bungalow Makeover** *(in Before & After)*

The 1928 bungalow-style home is in the Highlands, a highly desirable area of Louisville inhabited by residents who are focused on protecting the historic character of the neighborhood. The house was a distressed property in foreclosure and required a complete renovation. The couple saw potential and the opportunity to create value -- not to mention, Brad is General Manager of Vincent Abell Contracting, a full service General Contractor specializing in custom remodeling and renovations and he was eager to tackle this project. 

This project included a 600 square foot addition and changes to the original floor plan expanded the kitchen area, added a first-floor master suite, laundry room, powder room and mud room. 

Every window in this home was replaced. Integrity Wood-Ultrex windows were chosen with added Prairie grille patterns to help maintain the historical integrity and look of the home while providing a maintenance-free exterior. 

The windows fit beautifully with the bungalow-style home and surrounding homes in the area from a historic and architectural standpoint. Awning and casement windows were selected over double-hung windows in some openings for added usability and space conservation. 

This project won the 2014 Red Diamond Achiever People's Choice Award by Integrity.

A: Thank you all for the comments. Picture below is a little more recent with landscaping and painted foundation.  Our first priority with this undertaking was getting the house livable... After that we spiced up the exterior and added some interior decorations.  Please check out all of the pictures from before, during and after in our project gallery.  I'm new to this so I will be adding more projects over time, but this will be the first since there is already a conversation going.  -Brad Abell
