Their up front cost is the cheapest you'll find but they hit you with outrageous overages. I rented a 15 yd dumpster for 299. Dirt cheap. My husband and I bought our house a year ago and our Kitchen/Laundry Room/Half Bath Reno on the 1st floor was the first major project that we wanted to tackle. We interviewed 4 different contractors before deciding to move ahead with Robyn at Home Solutions. We liked that she gave use several options within our budget, was always quick to respond to a phone call or email, and she understood our vision and what we wanted from the start. Also, Robyn was the only contractor to bring contractors with her to our house to cut some holes in the walls to see what kind of pipes/wiring we had in our walls. By doing this, she found some piping and wires that needed to be moved and this was incorporated into her pricing. The other contractors that I met with did not do this, so their price did not include this work and would have been an extra expense on the back end. I also ask 1001 questions and she was always very patient with me. > > We signed the contract with her in March and the project started on time in June. Jerry and the team of contractors were great guys and a pleasure to see every day. They showed up on time every day and stayed all day, hardly taking any breaks except for lunch! Every Wednesday or Thursday Robyn would send me an email with the schedule for the following week and what would be happening every day and step of the way. There were never any delays, and everything was completed on time. We did have a few hiccups at the end - not anyone's fault. The dishwasher we had picked out did not fit in the space that we had. Robyn managed to have the dishwasher removed and a new dishwasher installed in 2 days! I didn't have to call anyone or arrange a swap. Robyn took care of everything. We also had another small issue with a bathroom faucet. My husband and I bought the wrong size faucet, and Robyn helped us return the incorrect one and ordered a new one in it's place. Also, we needed the cabinet refinisher to come and touch up a few spots on our cabinets and Robyn was on top of them until we got on the refinishers calendar. It was nice to not have to worry about anything because Robyn had it all under control. She is so organized and on top of every single detail every step of the way. > > Jerry, the main contractor, was amazing as well. He was so detail oriented and a perfectionist! He kept working on something until it was perfect. Things that my husband and I didn't even notice - he would point out and make slight corrections or adjustments if needed. Jerry also helped us pick out our grout colors for the tile floor and backsplash. He did not like the colors that I picked, and I trusted his judgment and went with his choice - and we are so glad that we did! The guy always left the house cleaner than the day before. He also was very punctual every day. Then you have Dave the Electrician and Dave the Plumber - Yep two Daves! Now the Plumber was your typical plumber - butt crack and all, but also very creative in his approach to avoiding problems. Then you have Dave the Electrician, like all electricians a little crazy, but an artist using light as his brush. > > We did have some issues with one vendor that was jobbed out. It was the BestTile in Flemington - the tile backsplash mosaic above the stove top was not installed well. The Tiles were not flush with each other, it looked like 3D tile where you have different surface thicknesses.
