Bottom line, I was quoted a price through email from Bruce Petrov but when I received my invoice, there was a $65 "trip charge" added to the cost. Expressed my displeasure with Bruce and was told I should have checked their website for pricing. I did not feel the need to check the website when I had an email from the owner quoting me a price. The quality of the work was not satisfactory, I needed a drop ceiling "fine tuned". I planned on 4 hours, but it took him 4.5 hours. We discussed ahead of time that this was an approximate price based a picture that you sent and it could vary. Also, you asked my guy to look at a non-functioning light while he was there. This wasn't mentioned when I was first told about the job. He had to remove the light and switch to check for wiring problems which could have easily amounted to the extra half hour of time that you saw on your bill. Did you expect us to do this for free? > > The cracked ceiling tiles are a result of the ceiling originally being installed, by someone else, too close to the floor joists above. You can get new ties, but they won't go in without being bent or cracked because of the way the ceiling was installed. > > Again, I'm really sorry for the disappointment. We receive quarterly visits for routine maintenance such as cleaning the dryer vent duct, sealing the roof around our stone chimney and a long checklist of items for each season of the year. Quarterly visits also have included special projects such as interior painting, power washing/sealing the driveway, installing light fixtures, repairing/replacing faucets and much more! Our service man, Pete, always arrives promptly and is fully prepared with all equipment and supplies needed for every job. He is very skilled at all types of handyman jobs. Pete is efficient, careful, cleans up after every project and amazes us with how much he can accomplish in every four-hours visit. Bruce did a walkthrough and identified areas of concern and wrote down the serial number of every appliance in the house. Every three months the same service man provides 4 hours of time. He has fixed plumbing, a remote for an older ceiling fan, built a riser for the washer and dryer, tightened doorknobs, and numerous other projects needing attention. We also contracted with HMS to repair and paint our deck. I would like to suggest something that I didn't see anyone mention. If the photo of the parapet wall and the arch is really the front of the house, then I would try to balance out the steps with something heavy on the left of the house. Maybe a covered walkway leading around the left side or something... Beautiful home! **Q: Master Bathroom** *(in Design Dilemma)* I have an oversized bathtub in my master bath with a builder's grade surround. I'd like to remove the tub and make a glass enclosed shower with nice tile. The walls are painted a chocolate brown. I'm thinking of neutral/natural colored tile. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestion? A: This a shower we did a couple years ago. This is travertine stone and a fairly simple design.
