As a homeowner that lives nearly on the other side of the country, I trust no one like I trust Kent Construction Group. Dustin and Alan are terrific at what they do and they do it at a great price. Customer service is extraordinarily important to Kent and it shows. Even if they did cost more, I'd still use them because I can count on them. If you are considering Kent you won't be sorry. The bottom line is, if you have a major remodel or addition project you're planning and you don't at least interview Alan, you're missing out big-time. He was lightning-fast with our home addition (we went from 800 to 2,100 sq ft in only 4.5 months!); the quality of the work was impeccable; Alan's responsiveness and sense of organization around managing his subcontractors was truly impressive (he had several teams going at once at most times, which kept the pace moving along very quickly); and, his network of suppliers was so good that we saved thousands of dollars on everything from cabinets to flooring to siding, and that absolutely made the difference in enabling us to build what is really our dream home! Our kitchen and flooring especially are beyond anything we could have imagined when we started this process. But most importantly, there were two things that sold us on working with Alan that his former clients told us: 1. Every former client we met with told us that he finished their projects on time and at or under budget, which is incredible, and 2. That he became their friend and they still hung out with him. We can attest to both those points. Alan was like our 'house whisperer' - such a steadying, calming presence when we were stressing about each little decision and all the money that a project like ours cost, and we can truly say that he's become a friend through this whole process. There aren't enough kind words I can say about working with Alan and his team. We raved so much about his work that he's now about to start a major remodel for some friends of ours who watched our project happen in real time. We did a complete exterior and first floor renovation with addition. For exterior: we redesigned the front facade by changing the roof line, adding a large porch, new windows, new roof, new siding, new exterior paint and new gutters. We also put a large living room addition to the back with a vaulted ceiling and gas fireplace. We moved the kitchen to the middle of the house and doubled it's size creating a brand new kitchen with a coffered ceiling and two islands. We closed walls and widen doorways, replaced bannisters, redid an old fireplace, added pantry cabinets, and restained floors. The entire renovation was done in 3 and a half months, over 1 and a half months shorter than our contract stated. Amazing. > Alan is wonderful to work with. He is considerate, thoughtful and never condescending to a set of clients who had little knowledge about construction. He managed all of his subcontractors really well and had a crew in the house doing work every day M-F during the renovation period. He was on site every day and always accessible by email and phone. He made the experience of doing a large renovation while living in the house more than bearable. Alan and his crew are very hard working, and aim to please the client.
