Cabinet Wakefield inc. is a medium-sized millwork shop in the Gatineau Hills about a half hour drive from the bridges in Ottawa. The process: You provide the design, we make it happen – while we do not currently have an interior designer on our team, we do offer technical design services, and if you have a good idea what it is you are looking for (pictures on Houzz, for instance!), we can probably work together to achieve your goals. In-home consultations are $150, fully refundable. Once we have enough information to do so, we will provide you with a detailed and guaranteed estimate and production schedule. Jobs are put into production in order of receipt of deposit. From there we will provide detailed 11x17” 2 and 3D shop drawings and material and finish samples, as well as hardware samples for your approval and to ensure we are all on the same page. Then we roll up our sleeves and start making sawdust. Pictures of that sawdust and the pieces cut from it will be sent via email or text, if requested, to keep you abreast of our progress. We will endeavor to take care of all possible details ahead of time so that there are no surprises when it comes to installation, and so that we minimize our interruption in your personal space. Everyone works best in an organized, clean environment, and we are no different; in our shop and in your house we keep the dust to a minimum, sweeping as we work and leaving a clean space when we go. COARSE LANGUAGE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED IN A CLIENT’S HOME. I don't even like it in the shop, frankly. When work is complete, we provide a written guarantee for 10 years against faulty work, with a follow-up visit to readjust doors and drawer fronts if required in the first year. Do you DIY? It was actually made as a coffee table for a small space that could not afford to give up much room. That it also works as a bench is just a bonus. I remember the tenons are about 4" (100mm) long. It may not look too fancy but I really love the proportions on this piece. **Q: Modern/old kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi My wife and I have just bought a 1920s cottage. The dilemma I'm having is the kitchen. It's a totally blank canvas as you can see. Was after some ideas of doing it up. I like modern kitchens but I also want to keep the character of the house.
