> We discovered Huseby Homes during our architectural planning stages of a significant addition and remodel to our newly purchased home. Huseby Homes (HH) came highly recommended by their current and past clients, and the industry. HH met with our architect and designers prior to our first meeting, and gathered a full understanding of the project details and needs. Once we decided to move forward with HH and not the other qualified contractors, Craig Huseby & Staff immediately implemented a path forward with the appropriate management, sub-contractors, vendors, and general "open communication" protocols. Our project took approximately 18 months, most of which was major/heavy construction, and we simply had a "as well as it can go" experience. HH's attention to detail is beyond one of their best strengths. They have a highly skilled trades team and some of the best contractors in middle TN. No project is exempt from "issues" (construction is my background too), and the few times we felt adjustments or changes needed to be made or considered, HH would respond and act swiftly, and follow through ASAP. Along with our amazing design team, architect, HH and most importantly my wife's direction and personal design guidance, the final work product is simply amazing and beautiful. Thank you to Craig Huseby and HH, and all of their amazing work-force that made our project a successful one. Definitely recommend HH for any high-end projects, but in general as well.

**Comment from Huseby Homes:**

> Thank you Wade!
>
> I am grateful to work with you to create your legacy home. You and Erinn were an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the project. I am humbled to receive your review Wade, especially in light of your extensive and wildly successful career in building. Moreover, it was our delight to implement the timeless and tasteful design palette guided by Erinn.
>
> I remember, early on, you mentioned to me that quality was your first priority. I am pleased that after completing this extensive construction project, that you believe this is one of our greatest strengths at Huseby Homes. I am also pleased that you noted our responsiveness to any concerns or obstacles that surfaced. We take contracting to another level, the outcomes are personal to us, most importantly we know that it is personal for you. As a result, we shoot for a mark that is far beyond what most call "custom work" and literally do all possible to hit what most of us would consider perfection.
>
> In closing, it is a pleasure to drive by your home on a regular basis, I am so proud to be the one who built it. To partner both with you and Erinn, Noble Johnson Architects, and Page Duke (Ed Tessier) is a dream team! Thank you again.
>
> Most Sincerely,
>

> We have a lake house on Ky Lake 2 hours NW of Nashville. Getting high quality and reliable construction and repair service has always been an issue, that is until we met in Oct. 2016, L. J. Huseby & Company, LLC. Since then we have had them do a significant variety of house construction repairs including painting, stucco, gas, etc. Our latest job , June 2020, was replacement of an entire very large and heavy lake fronting window that over the years began to leak. They ordered the new window and did all the necessary prep and install and finishing. Excellent work! They have always been extremely easy and quick and reliable. Tom Brooks our prime contact and project manager is quick to respond and always has deliverer excellent service. and is just a nice fellow. Their subs are excellent: carpentry, painting, roofing, gas, stucco, you name it. I just can't say enough about the excellent service and work product. If you use Huseby you won't be dissatisfied.

**Comment from Huseby Homes:**

> James, thank you for sharing your experience with us! Tom, your project manager has always communicated to me how much he enjoys serving you. I agree that he is really good at what he does and certainly a nice guy. We appreciate your loyalty and never take a client for granted. I could not agree more with what my wife's uncle told me "it is one thing to get a client and anther to keep him/her". Our L J repairs and remodeling division was founded in 2007 in order to serve all of our client's needs. So when we finish a new build or large remodeling project, the Huseby team is ready and eager to "be your guy" for anything that comes up.

**★★★★★ — James Edwards Architect, April 2020**

> I've been practicing architecture for over 50 years, and kind of think I've learned some things in the process. I've certainly learned who I like to work with and why. With my training and experience, it used to be that I thought that I could manage smaller "projects" around my house. After all, if I could design for the built environment (which I do), I could certainly manage a roof repair, or hardwood floor refinishing, or painting, or a host of sub-contractors doing other work. I learned the hard way that I'm not so good at it, and one of the reasons is that most of these "little jobs" are done by companies that will likely only give you service once or maybe twice over the years, there is simply no real incentive to give good service. When a single source (a contractor) can supply a sub-contractor with the bulk of his work load, there is a lot of loyalty and built-up respect. There is a level of communication that I will never master. They also have access to quality sub-contractors and specialty trades that one cannot find in the Yellow Pages, or on houzz. And the Huseby "gang" has mastered this. Whether it's a new custom residence, or a large renovation or addition, or something smaller like stucco repair, floor replacement or refinishing, repainting, or whatever it may be, The little bit of extra cost for their management expertise pays huge dividends in lack of hassle and improvement in the quality of the work. Often I think that I would end up paying more for lower quality if I dealt directly with the crews that do the work. Craig has provided services on many of my architectural projects, and Tom Brooks was the lead carpenter on one of the early ones. I have great confidence in, and respect for, both of them. Tom now manages LJ ("little jobs") Huseby & Company. And he's my guy for anything I need doing around my house. I even like to think I've taught him a little over the many years we've been professional friends. I recommend Craig and Tom every single time I get a chance. Well, that's not completely true. Sometimes when I have a difficult architectural client, or even maybe a friend that I know will be hard to work with, I talk to Craig or Tom before the recommendation. I treat them like trusted friends and get the same in return.

**Comment from Huseby Homes:**

> James, I am humbled by your direct and honest feedback, especially considering not only your tenure as an architect but more importantly your stellar reputation as one of the most talented designers and construction experts in the southeast. We have shared special projects for quality people in our area for well almost 15 years. Architects sometimes do not get the reputation as being the most humble people. While we are privileged to work with several that are indeed down to earth team players, you truly are modest in all regards. The teams you lead, including ours when we share a project, are stronger due to your leadership and demeanor. Your treatment of the building team, from general laborers to skilled craftsman, is always encouraging and brings out the best in others. Working for you and and with you has made me a better Builder. Tom Brooks has express to me on many occasions that he has learned a lot from you, as a result is a sharper and more effective leader/service provider. Thank you for not only trusting us and the resulting working relationship we enjoy. I appreciate your friendship James. We look forward to being yours and Christie's go to company for years to come!

**★★★★★ — Linda Wang, Nov. 2019**

> We hired Huseby Homes for an extensive kitchen remodel, which included adding roughly 300 square feet to the existing space. Among other difficulties, this was a historic home that had undergone several prior renovations, so the framing was a mess, as was the sub-flooring. Huseby's team was able to handle the challenges at every turn, and Craig was especially helpful in thinking up creative solutions to achieve our goals. In addition, our PM, Andy Shervik, was always accessible, professional, and responsive to our concerns. In fact, we were amazed at how often he would take care of things himself if our vendors were unable to address our needs in a timely manner.

**Comment from Huseby Homes:**

> Linda it truly is an honor to work for you and Tommy. You are always pleasant and a skilled manager. Your home truly is a distinctive historic estate that has been carefully crafted over several generations with the engagement of some of Nashville's finest architects and designers. Thank you for your review and for choosing to work with us.
> I am also appreciative of Kevin Coffey, Rosanne Jackson, and Katy Austin for their contributions to the project.

**★★★★★ — Valerie Landa, Oct. 2019**

> My husband and I contracted with Huseby Homes for an involved kitchen repair that turned into a kitchen renovation including pulling up and replacing all of our downstairs flooring. Tom Brooks and each member of his team were responsive and professional and were such a pleasure to work with each and every day. I appreciated their attention to quality and detail in every aspect of the renovation - they did not settle for anything less than superior quality. The project lasted approximately 3 months, and during that time Tom and his team were present daily to ensure completion of the project on time. I would not hesitate to call Huseby Homes again for future renovations to my home.

**Comment from Huseby Homes:**

> Landa, thank you for choosing Huseby Homes. We appreciate your business and are pleased to read the review. Tom is a hard worker and keeps a tight ship-our gratitude to you and Adam. Also please know that Wayne Tywater expressed to me on many occasions how much he enjoyed working on your project.

**★★★★★ — Laurie Berryhill, Sept. 2019**

> We recently finished a project with Huseby Homes Exterior and we would hire them again without hesitation for another project. We found them by word of mouth and we asked them to come and assess a fiasco created by another contractor. After being burned, it was difficult to believe everything would be done according to plan, on time, in a professional manner and 'perfectly'. I was skeptical and leery, but Huseby Homes did everything and more by completing a project as promised. I did not have to 'check up' on them, I did not have to lose sleep over incompetent work, they gave me peace of mind. I wish we would have known about them before we started our original project and saved ourselves years of heartache. If we ever decide to build a home from the ground up, the only choice would be Huseby Homes.

**Comment from Huseby Homes:**

> Dear Laurie,
>
> We are honored and thankful for not only your business but also for taking the time to write a great review. Our entire company gave Tom a pat on the back for giving you such a good experience. He expressed to me how much both he and the carpenters enjoyed working for you. Thank you again.
>
> Many people don’t know about our specialized exteriors division that focuses on correcting negative water issues. Tom truly understands the importance of a solid building envelope and always uses “thru wall” flashings and other measures to keep your house secure.

> We used to used Huseby Homes for a second time for our upstairs home renovation. This included one bedroom, one bathroom, a hallway, and staircase. We once again loved working with them and love the results! Their commitment to making our house perfect was strong. Chris was our project manager and he was great- always available, always knew what was going on, and gave many options and solutions to any problem. We will be working with them one more time in the future for phase 3 of our house which includes room one large bedroom and another bathroom. Thanks for everything Huseby Homes!

**Comment from Huseby Homes:**

> Hi Melanie,
>
> Thank you for your support and business!
>
> Both Chris and Alicia enjoyed serving you as project managers. It is always an honor to do multiple phases of construction for our clients. You and CP are great to work with and have a beautiful family. We are humbled by your desire to work with us again on a third project. We would love the opportunity and know that it is crucial to keep our existing clients satisfied. On a separate note, you make great design choices and hats off to Carlton Architecture (Matt Zink & Whitney Carter) for their work on the projects.

> Sincerely,

**★★★★★ — Whitt Hall, Aug. 2019**

> Huseby Homes added a second story to our house along with other renovations in 2014 and recently completed the second phase of our whole house expansion/renovation project. The quality of work their team delivers is a significant reason why we continue to entrust these important projects to Huseby Homes, but perhaps an even more distinguishing trait of the company is their commitment to ensure that the homeowners are satisfied with the overall experience. Craig stayed engaged throughout each project phase and even afterwards – and has always resolved any request to our satisfaction. Chris Williams, who was our assigned Project Manager, always provided thorough and highly responsive communication regardless of the time or day of the week, which is very appreciated when trying to balance a successful project with my unpredictable work travel schedule. We highly recommend Huseby Homes to others considering transforming their homes or building a new one and will certainly use them on any future phases.

**Comment from Huseby Homes:**

> Thank you Whitt, it has been a pleasure to work with you and Casey on your timeless and stunning Belle Meade family home. Your vote of confidence is significant in light of the amount of work we performed for you, but also due to your engineering and business background. Casey did a great job on the interiors and facilitating the overall management of the projects. Our team enjoyed working with architects Eric Stengel and Clay Trabue. Nichole and I both value the friendship that has developed with you and your family over the years.

**★★★★★ — Scott Westerman, Aug. 2019**

> The Huseby Homes team was give a very big challenge to build a modern style cabin with large beams and windows in a setting that was difficult to work on and get to. They have excelled beyond my expectations. Steve and Leo lead the charge with precision and carpentry quality second to none. All of my visitors are blown away with size, scale and uniqueness of the architecture and workmanship. Craig ensured the team was being very judicious on costs and quality. The team brings enthusiasm, a focus to detail that results in getting it right the first time and flexibility for field knowledge that's lead to a design and quality that's breathtaking.

**Comment from Huseby Homes:**

> Wow, Scott, the images are awesome of your family legacy. Thank you for allowing us to perform the custom framing/carpentry for your family retreat. You are right, it was tough to get equipment etc in the middle of the woods. We enjoyed the challenge and are grateful to you and your family for allowing us to be a part of it. Hats off to architect Steve Durden too!

**★★★★★ — dth0715, May 2019**

> Every aspect of Building out a condo in a high rise building.
> Huseby Homes was Very professional, as were their subs. Most of their subs have worked for them a long time. Attention to detail was a huge priority to them, as was timeliness. They met our extremely tight timeline, while keeping their standards to the highest. They were quick and thorough in their solutions to situations we did not foresee. They took responsibility for issues that were not created by them, without ever pointing a finger. They are team players. They did not miss a beat as the punch list was made- their follow through was excellent. My husband and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others looking for high quality work and people.

**Comment from Huseby Homes:**

> Diane, it truly is an honor to be your builder. The Penthouse is draw dropping largely to do with your keen design sense, leadership, and back ground as an interior designer (your designers did a wonderful job as well). The project was complex and has a lot of glam yet it carries an understated foundation of timeless class. We truly enjoyed the process and getting to know you and your family. I am grateful and appreciate your support and business.

**★★★★★ — Chuck Hargett, Jan. 2019**

> Huseby Homes did a complete redesign/renovation of our 5 bedroom home on a steep slope in Forest Hills (aprox 5000 sq ft.). After receiving designs and recommendations from our architect, the only contracting company who responded in person via phonemail was Huseby Homes. That personal touch, coupled with a fair price and great referrals, landed us on this family-oriented company. Once we hired them, and worked through budgeting and timelines, they were consistent in their attention to detail and incredibly responsive. Even when our original AMAZING point person went on maternity leave, a new point person came in with equal knowledge of our home and its unique needs and completed the project thoroughly and. From woodworking to plumbing, tile work to framing, roofing to gutters, electrical to painting, all subs were completely licensed, knowledgable, friendly AND trustworthy. Most I would even say are masters at their craft. And when there were problems (there always are with a project of this magnitude), they fixed them quickly and conveniently, even after we moved in and added punch list items. We have even used them since for additional requests. I highly recommend Craig Huseby and his crew,.

**Comment from Huseby Homes:**

> Chuck, we are humbled to be your Builder! Thank you for the detailed review and most of all thank you for entrusting so many aspects of your project to us. You, Chris, and Carol were great to work with in all regards. I look forward to hopefully getting photographs of your stunning home. I would also like to share with the world that you are very talented as an architectural graphic designer. Thank you for not only your vision for our home but also for helping on the Lynwood pool and downtown Penthouse.

**★★★★★ — Melanie Krishnamurthy, Dec. 2018**

> We hired Huseby Homes for our renovation that included a living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and a bathroom. Craig and his team did an excellent job and we are so happy with the result! Our house is more beautiful and more comfortable than we ever thought it would be! Problems definitely came up during the renovation, but Craig and his team were always able to give us the many suggestions and options to take care of them. We worked very closely with our project manager, Alicia, who was such a pleasure to work with and so helpful! The whole team was very professional. We will be renovating our upstairs portion of the house in the future and will definitely be working with Huseby Homes again!

## Community Q&A

**Q: What kind of flooring is this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is the flooring water resistant?

A: Hello, this is Eastern White Pine solid wood flooring, with an oil-based polyurethane finish. It will withstand everyday spills, but would not be recommended in an area exposed to consistently high levels of moisture.

**Q: Navy Blue Paint Color...?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hello. Can you please tell me the name and brand of the navy blue color paint used here? Thank you!

A: The paint is more of a gray and you may be able to get it from Julian and Sons out of Arkansas.

**Q: What is the color on the wall?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Sorry for not answering. I do not have the color.

**Q: I wish we could view the inside layout?** *(in Photo Questions)*

This is transformation is amazing!

A: The interior layout is largely unchanged. Thank you for the thumbs up on the exterior transformation.

**Q: Dining chairs are stunning** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where can i find the dining chairs.

A: I have no idea. Roger Higgins is the interior designer. Not sure if the owner already had. Project is the Holden residence if you contact them.

**Q: Love the kitchen table, chair, couches and coffee table!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where are they from, please?!

A: Not sure. Higgins Interiors is the designer.
