We are the only manufacturers of wood flooring materials in New Mexico. We use trees sourced from Native American Tribal lands in-state as well as Federal lands, and from our own ranch just north of Pecos, NM. We are a green company and work closely with the US Forest Service following the guidelines of the NEPA  - National Environmental Protection Act. We maintain a showroom in Santa Fe, New Mexico while our manufacturing facility is located in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

**Q: Pine, Oak, or Reclaimed Douglas Fir for wood floors?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are remodeling our new apartment in San Francisco and we are trying to decide between Pine, Oak, or reclaimed Douglas Fir for the wood floors (entry-way, living space, and kitchen). Our contractor recommended we stay away from Pine because it is soft and can dent, but we love how it looks. The photo attached is the look we are going for - lighter wood with large planks. Any recommendations or experience with one of the 3?

A: We make different styles of flooring from Ponderosa Pine here In New Mexico where we source the Pine from Native American Tribal Lands. We make Tongue & Groove, Very Wide Planks (9-20" wide), and end grain blocks. We can do flat boards that are smooth, or textured (wire-brushed,hand scraped, etc.) depending upon the look you are seeking in the home. There are alot of Ponderosa Pine floors in our region that we have sold and are durable and beautiful to look at and walk on…..Our boards are also 3/4" of solid Ponderosa Pine and range in length from 18" up to 10 or 11 ft long. **Q: Pine wood floors in a kitchen?** *(in Polls)*

We have an old farmhouse with pine floors in several areas of the home.  We are updating the kitchen with a simple white kitchen from ikea.   There are several types of wood floors already throughout the home so I'm not trying to identically match.  I was thinking wide plank pine, but a contractor as well as a floor person have warned against because they are too soft.  Keep in mind this is a second home with weekend use only.

A: We make and sell solid wood flooring from Ponderosa Pine every day here in New Mexico….some of our clients have used end grain blocks in their kitchen, using ponderosa pine and it is very functional and durable. Let;s chat.

**Q: Need help on solid wood flooring!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am renovating a home on 11 acres in the "Modern Farmhouse" style and have existing cherry floors in the front hallway and study. It has lots of sap wood variation and color variation. I need to add flooring to an open kitchen/dining/family room adjacent to it. If I can't match the cherry, what hardwood might work WITH it? (I'm also concerned that if I cover new cherry with rugs, it will discolor underneath them!)

We use douglas fir, ponderosa pine and mesquite to make tongue & groove, very wide planks and end grain blocks in a variety of prefinished or unfinished styles, colors, and widths. **Q: Which do you prefer in wood flooring and why? Pine or hardwood?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We need to make a decision soon and I keep vacillating. On the one hand I like the more casual, rustic, knotty look of pine in wider planks but I'm told it has cracks between the boards, and that they swell and shrink a bit with the weather whereas hardwood forms a tight seal and there are no cracks. What would you choose? I included a picture of a pine floor that I like and a hardwood floor I like...both have a stone fireplace, and a similar feel to what I am trying to create.

A: Have you finished your project on flooring yet? We make solid wood flooring every day from ponderosa pine and douglas fir sourced from native american tribal lands, among other places. We have made and sold many many floors using Ponderosa Pine, either as a tongue & groove floor, very wide plank, or end grain. All our flooring is kiln-dried and in the last 18 yrs have never had a complaint of cracking, splitting or boards twisting out of shape….and we ship throughout the USA and internationally. The grain and knot pattern in ponderosa pine gives "character" to the flooring. Let's chat.
