We totally remodeled three bathrooms and converted a kitchen and two adjourning rooms into a kitchen/great room. We were/are completely satisfied with the process leading up to signing the contract and the carrying out of the contract to its completion. Not a day of work went by without at least one site visit by the contractor. All of those working on the project were professional, the site was kept orderly throughout the project (important to us because we lived on site the entire time). Questions were addressed rapidly, smoothly and with good attitude by all those who worked on the project. Change orders were handled smoothly. There were some delays, as we expected, but nothing that wasn't explained outright and none were prolonged. **★★★ — Chris Calderbank, April 2018** > We hired Nest Builders to remodel our 3 story townhouse in downtown Delray Beach. The house was completely transformed from the original 2003 builder’s grade look to a modern open space incorporating the latest technology for security and comfort. > > Since we would be living in NJ during the renovation, and unable to check in on the progress very often, we took the selection of a builder very seriously and interviewed multiple companies before selecting Jonathan and Harvey at Nest. > > We worked closely with Jonathan on everything from layout changes to final design remotely, only making two on site visits for final finish selection. Once construction started Jonathan kept us updated with near daily emails, photos and phone calls on the status. > > The house is now a home where we will be comfortable for many years. > > Update: > I typically do not write reviews that are negative, but I feel the need to update what I had originally written, so as not to misguide. My update is focused on things that happen after the renovation is complete, and how the builder stands behind their work. You would never know these things until a bit of time elapses. > > Everything I originally wrote is still valid, but the support we received after the final check was written has been extremely poor. > > The core of the problem is this – Nest Builders has no employees except for the owners, Jonathan and Harvey Korman. They exclusively hire sub-contractors, although Jonathan told us during the construction that they owned part of the kitchen cabinet company and the primary construction and painting crew company. > > This meant that when the construction/painting contractor said he would come back to address a kitchen fan issue and for a paint touchup in a couple of months after everything settled, we never heard from him. He never returned calls. The real issue is that I was left to call the sub-contractor directly because Nest had moved on. > > However, the major challenge has been the kitchen cabinets. We had hinges break, doors scrape on each other and require repair because screws were not sunk deep enough to not rub, door fronts split open and even had a drawer front fall off in a guest’s hand. The custom paint is chipping and apparently rubbed off of our custom-made cabinets. The paint chipping remains an issue that will not be corrected unless I hire someone new to repaint the kitchen. > > The final straw which leads me to write this update is how the latest item was handled. The custom door panels on the frig/freezer where damaged and needed to be rebuilt when the handles we chose broke loose. The handles apparently were not strong enough and simply came loose from the screws holding them from behind. This damaged the door panels which needed to be completely rebuilt and painted to match. > > I contacted Nest and the kitchen company and was quickly met with long written lectures from Jonathan on how we chose the wrong handles. I am the customer and hired Nest to guide me and now they are blaming me? I did not demand these handles. We picked them out with Jonathan standing next to us, but now it is our problem. > > After 6 months, countless emails and text messages, I paid for new handles and paid the kitchen cabinet company $2k more to fix the issue. Nest abandoned their kitchen contractor and me and would not even come to the house as requested. Jonathan continued to lecture me via text and Harvey sat silent ignoring all messages. I am not naming the kitchen cabinet company, because I did not hire them – Nest Builders did. Their trades did a beautiful job on my master bathroom. They walked us through the process, kept everything on track. Jonathan was a pleasure to shop with.
