She is extremely well rounded as a designer - she has the historical knowledge I needed to apply to an 1890s home, the construction and design knowledge we applied to building a master suite and dormer in the previously unfinished attic space, an elegant aesthetic and the personality that invites you to share your ideas, goals, budget, and quirky requests with her. We've had the privilege of working with her on a small kitchen expansion (bay window with custom table and banquette) and a new bathroom (drop-in tub, glass shower, vanity, custom cabinets). As others have said, she has that rare blend of low-key demeanor with excellent taste. Followthrough is flawless and her ability to make suggestions that fit with our aesthetic make for a compatible working relationship. Kate has a very keen sense of color and a wide design vocabulary that reaches from the more traditional aspects of interior design--sheen, texture, material--to the harder stuff--how the construction actually works. She's made suggestions that the builder hadn't considered. She's also good at finding items at a variety of price points, meaning that we can choose where we want to economize without sacrificing the overall look. I'd like to dream up more projects so we can continue working together. What a pleasure.
