> Dave Vogt put together an experienced team for our extensive kitchen renovation in Chevy Chase. The project initially seemed daunting but with the depth of experience at Case it surpassed our expectations. We wanted to extend an inside kitchen wall and take out the middle section of an outer kitchen wall to install a 7-foot-wide window. Dave’s response: Case does this all the time. Dave’s team also took out the kitchen bulkheads to create lots more vertical space. The result was transformational with vastly more natural light. Dave brought in master designer Caroline Moore, who managed to pair a stunning quartzite island and countertops with walnut cabinets and marble backsplash. Fluent in all design styles and fixtures, she made it easy to quickly narrow down choices. The construction phase could have been challenging but we had project manager Brian Knott. With his extensive construction knowledge, attention to timing and detail, and professional can-do attitude, he orchestrated a deep team while taking advantage of individual talents. New cabinets were installed, new plumbing, new electrical, drywall, exterior wall brick work, quartzite countertops, backsplash, all new appliances, etc... Finished on budget six weeks ahead of schedule! Special thanks to Douglas for all his high-quality hours onsite as a Case builder and shadow manager, Eddie for some beautiful carpentry details and Marlin for his ability to use stains to mesh old hardwood floor sections with new.

> Our project was the renovation of a 1963, 5 bedroom, 3 1/2 bathroom house in NW DC. The basic floor plan of the house was not changed, but the job included updating the kitchen, bathrooms, electrical, lighting, windows, hardwood flooring, stairwells and more. Our Case architect and design person was Dave Vogt who I cannot complement highly enough. Talented, professional and personable and immediately responsive to queries. Jorge Solano was our project manager during construction. Also talented, professional and personable and immediately responsive to queries. He successfully coordinated the tradespeople, sequenced the tasks and kept the project on schedule. The carpenter, and other tradespeople were excellent. We chose Case because of their long experience, reputation in the neighborhood, and solid guarantee of their work. It was a wise choice!

> Dave is an exceptional architect and a pleasure to work with. He designed a remodel and expansion of a floor of our house and two bathrooms. The design was beautiful and he was extremely clever and thoughtful in the use of the space. He listened carefully to what we were looking for and gave us a few design options that were very responsive to our interests. He worked with us to pick out all of the materials, tiles, fixtures, wood, windows, etc. for a great end result. He was very easy to work with, very clear and timely with information, and responsive to any follow up and questions. We would highly recommend his work a services!

> Laura - it was a pleasure to work with you as well. thank you.

**★★★★★ — Kelli Gilmer, Oct. 2024**

> We have worked with Dave and Case twice now, first for a small exterior home project, then for a larger project. Our recent project was an addition to our home, including expansion of the kitchen and adding a bedroom and bathroom.
> Dave worked with us from the beginning of the project conception to consider the spaces we needed; he and his team gave multiple options on layouts/pricing/design, and then finalizing details of each room. He and Case were advocates during the permitting process and helped move along a stalled approval through the DC process.
> Once the construction began, he was available to help when we needed for a few changes to the project and worked well with the building/construction team.
> He is practical, kind and easy to work with.
> Would highly recommend using Dave and Case for home remodel and renovation projects.

> When deciding to renovate our home, we met with several different architects and designers. There were a few things that drew us to Case. First, it is a design and build firm, so we didn’t have to work with an architect on plans, then bid out those plans to others to be built. Case has the expertise to handle the entire process. Second, Dave Vogt, our project developer, was the only one who had done research on the property, lot and general area before our initial meeting. And lastly, Dave was the only one who talked about the exterior design of the home. In the end, his advice on the siding pattern, color and layout resulted in the exterior of our home having character/depth, rather than being just a flat wall of siding. In addition to his design guidance throughout the project, he also helped with key decisions in the primary bath that really elevated the whole look of that room too!
>
> As we got into the design phase of the project, we worked closely with Ellen Whitmore. I told her about the time I had tried my hand at designing our powder room, and how things just did not look good together at the end. She was so great at staying true to my idea of how I wanted everything to look, while also providing her expert advice and guidance to make sure that that vision would be realized – that all the things would actually look good together. She has such an eye! You know how sometimes you can look at something and you can tell it’s off, but you’re just not sure exactly what it is? Well, she can spot the thing. She made sure that everything – the layout, arches, spacing, cabinet ends, tile pattern, grout colors, railing shape – everything! – was just so. And even though it wasn’t part of the contract, she even helped me with paint colors.
>
> When we first started thinking of renovating, we heard so many stories of builders not finishing the work, of doing shoddy work just to get done quickly, etc. But we could not have asked for a better experience with project manager Justin Speer! We had weekly status meetings/house visits to discuss previously completed tasks, upcoming tasks, and any variations to the timeline. As with many renovations of older houses, there were some definite surprises (surprise - water is seeping into your foundation!), and Justin handled them all expertly. His team had an eye for detail, and they just made our home so beautiful. And they had a camaraderie that was sweet to watch. Dare I say that this was the most fun part of the project for me – seeing everything come together in real life!
>
> Lastly, any questions we’ve had or fixes needed post renovation, Case has responded to quickly.
>
> The only recommendation I have would be: the project management process used during build (e.g., weekly status meetings) was really helpful for us to keep track of the timeline. I think it would be helpful to implement a similar process for the entire length of the project.
>
> I would not hesitate to work with Case again!

> David Vogt and Case helped design and build our screened in back porch. We love it and spend much of our time on this porch for lunches and dinners enjoying the garden in our backyard as well as the fresh air.

> We worked with Dave and his team at Case on a 2023 kitchen & bathroom renovation and family room addition for our 70-year-old home in Silver Spring and we could not be happier with the work and the result. We interviewed several design/build firms, architects, and builders. Dave was the only one who, in an initial visit, specifically talked about how the team could create fencing during the construction to keep our dog safe and with access to the yard. That level of thoughtfulness continued throughout our experience working with Case. Dave and his team were incredibly responsive to our needs, questions, and concerns. Their answer to any question we had on if we could do something was always "yes." We've told everyone who asks that Dave /Case finished our project on time and budget, and our house is stunning. And - here's another thing I think is important: I'd heard so many horror stories about how working with folks in a male-dominated industry meant that women clients were often ignored, talked over, treated disrespectfully (i.e. wanting to only deal with the "man" of the household) and that NEVER happened with anyone at Case. I really can't say enough about how great the experience was -so I'll say this - we're already daydreaming about our next project with Dave and his team.

**★★★★★ — Leslie Case, Jan. 2022**

> My husband and I loved working with David and the entire Case team. Dave was the first person from Case that we met with to discuss a kitchen, master bath, three bathroom and laundry room renovation. When he met with us initially, he was honest and up front about what a renovation would entail and laid out the options and cost estimates and walked us through our questions. After we chose to move forward with Case Design he made sure we were on track and quickly responded to questions and issues throughout the project from planning the details, working with the designer and the project manager and throughout the construction.
>
> After the construction was completed, Dave was still responsive to questions and making sure we were thrilled with the finished renovations.

**★★★★★ — Jim Levings, Feb. 2020**

> We had the best experience with Dave, from start to finish. Dave was our architect and we've been living in our new addition since July 2019. Since that time, there is NOT one change in terms of design I would make as it pertains to the addition.
>
> It is the perfect amount of space (not to big not to small), from the placement and number of kitchen cabinets, the size of the wall for our big screen TV, the perfect number of outlets etc., everything in the new space/addition is utilized and we've NEVER said, if we could go back and make changes, these are the changes we would make.
>
> I attribute that to Dave and his ability to 'really' listen to what we were trying to achieve with the new space.
>
> Can't speak highly enough!

**★★★★★ — Patricia Regan, Nov. 2019**

> We had been planning a remodel/bump out for our 50-year-old home for almost 2 years. We went to a Case design open house and decided to move forward with Case. Dave spent a great deal of time with us walking through what we envisioned, what we loved and what we didn't love about our current home. Dave asked lots of questions and presented lots of choices for how we could meet our goals for the new design. Even though we decided to cut back on a few things, I love that Dave worked with us to keep some elements so that if we decide to do more work going forward, it will be easier to pick up. For example, we were going to put an ADA bathroom on the first floor but changed it up to an office instead. But the crawl space and the new addition are set up so we can easily convert that space to a bathroom in the future.
> We are so thrilled with the larger, open design! We really felt that Dave listened to us and came up with a great plan to exceed our expectations.
> We would highly recommend Dave.

**Comment from David Vogt - Case Design/Remodeling Inc.:**

> Tim and Trish -
> I and our whole team enjoyed working with you on the desing and constrction. Enjoy the Holidays this year and into the future - you have a great space to accommodate family and friends.
> thanks Dave

> Our experience with Dave, Adrian, Alex and Stefan was great. They were all very professional. Dave kept communications open during planning and responded to questions timely.
> We enjoyed working with the whole team.
> We completely gutted our nearly 30 year old master bath and updated it. Love the results!

**Comment from David Vogt - Case Design/Remodeling Inc.:**

> Wanda - thanks for the kind review- it was fun working with you - the team really enjoyed helping you with your project.

**★★★★★ — Casey Aboualfia, Feb. 2019**

> CASE Design and Dave Vogt were an amazing team. Our family has a 'vintage' 1920 craftsman house in a historic district of Washington DC. We were looking to make a large family room/kitchen and 2nd floor extension to our home, add a couple of bedrooms, a full bath, move a 1/2 bath and get an all new kitchen (ours was original!) and family room. Our lot was small, required a variance for the design we wanted (approved!) and we had several other constraints, but we ended up with a great design that suits our family really well - and it's a great blend of our historic house and modern style living.
>
> To boot - I had a 2.5 year old and a 6 month old (and my own job), my husband was traveling constantly AND we lived in our home through the entire renovation. What would generally be a recipe for disaster was dealt with with aplomb by CASE's crew. Weekly on-site meetings with Kevin (project manager) kept us on track, and we finished on time and on budget. The on-site head carpenter (Greg) was like one of the family. But best of all, the quality of the work is really amazing, and continues to be to this day - 6 years later. I couldn't be happier. Don't get me wrong - I was glad when the job was done!, but they were a fantastic group to work with. Great people and great work all around.

**Q: Love this color scheme** *(in Photo Questions)*

What brand and paint color is this?

A: Hello,
Unfortunately the client decided to do the painting on their own, therefore we do not know this information. However, this question has been asked multiple times and another Houzzer responded that she believes this paint color is Friendly Yellow 6680 by Sherman Williams.
Hope that helps!
Thanks,
Dave http://www.casedesign.com
