This design team will elevate your ideas into something FAR SUPERIOR! If you're someone who has no idea what you want or you're not quite sure, just let them take the wheel. > > Kathy and her team are wonderful people with an incredible work ethic and amazing design eye. I hope to work with them again soon! **Comment from KBKC Design:** > Thank you so much Kelli! We truly enjoyed working with you on your home and look forward to working together again in the future. **★★★★★ — Sue Kaufman, May 2020** > I worked with Kathleen and her staff from 2017 to 2019 to redecorate the living, dining and family areas in my Lafayette home. Because of her reputation, I expected excellence, but I didn't know how much fun we would have doing this project! > Kathleen quickly took up my vision of a transitional conversation living room arrangement and dining room able to accommodate dinner parties. > In one trip to the SF Design Center we found the perfect rug and furniture pieces. I appreciated Kathleen's focus on quality plus value. > Her staff provided multiple fabric combination choices which we reviewed together for final choices. I love the rooms and we really enjoy the spaces now! **Comment from KBKC Design:** > Thank you Sue!! You and Alan were such a pleasure to work with. Take Care~ **★★★★★ — elainepmeyers4kids, Aug. 2019** > They exceeded our wildest expectations! Kathleen, Jill and Jaclyn did not miss one detail. I knew what I wanted, but found it difficult to articulate. It was overwhelming! They somehow translated my goals and style (beyond what I knew was possible) and took ALL of the heavy lifting off my plate. Everything flows in our home and makes sense. Hire a designer, it’s worth it! No wait, hire THIS designer! **★★★★★ — Lauren Jennings, Jan. 2019** > I've had the pleasure of working with the super talented team of designers at Kathleen Burke Design and I highly recommend this firm. Since buying our home in May 2018, we've been working to furnish nearly the entire house, plus doing a remodel of our Master Bedroom Suite. The process is very involved and time consuming with so many choices, but Kathy, Jaklyn, Jill and the rest of the design team have been very helpful creating an overall master vision for the home and finding the right mix of traditional touches mixed with updated furniture and finishes. We look forward to working with them on a number of projects in the future once we wrap up our Master Bedroom remodel. Five stars! **★★★★★ — Teresa Rodgers, April 2018** > Kathleen did an excellent job designing our kitchen and family room. She is very professional and knowledgable and everything went smoothly from start to finish. I was very impressed with her attention to the smallest details. She made sure everything was functional as well as beautiful. We are so happy with the results! It is truly a dream kitchen! **★★★★★ — George Bishop, Feb. 2018** > Kathy did the interior design for our Lafayette home 20 years ago, and we have gone back to her again and again for additional projects. Kathy and Julie are the consummate professionals, with excellent taste and extraordinary design skills. **★★★★★ — Trudy Presser, June 2017** > Ok, hands down Kathleen is a pro! We had Kathleen provide overall advice on upgrading and updating our house. She was a joy to work with and had excellent/tasteful ideas. We are in the process of implementing her suggestions and can't wait to finish. How lucky we are to have found her! **★★★★★ — Ann Appert, March 2016** > Kathy entered my kitchen remodel project to help with finishes on a kitchen design created by another designer. She took one look and came up with a revision that made all the difference between an ordinary vs spectacular result. We scrapped the plan and started over with her. > As friends visit, almost all the elements they compliment are details Kathy proposed. I would have had 85% of the result without her help but again her ability to hear my likes and then take them a step further toward spectacular made all the difference. More over her team's attention to documentation of details and decisions helped ensure the project was implemented with ease. **★★★★★ — bilmor, March 2016** > This is the third time I have hired Kathleen Burke and her team to remodel my home. Each time was with careful thought and handling that was specific to what would work for me. This recent project came out far greater than I imagined. It is more than the look of the house, it is the feel that you get from the moment you enter the home. Every room has a comfort level that could only have been done with the experience and training that Kathy and her team have. I couldn't be more satisfied. **★★★★★ — janetmcronk, Dec. 2015** > Kathleen Burke is a full service design company. Her superb staff includes a receptionist, computer designer, assistant designers and Kathy. She is capable of planning a whole house or just a room. I have worked with her for the last year and have always enjoyed her professionalism, talent, and taste. She listens to her clients and doesn't force her opinions on her clients. I highly recommend her company. JMC, Lafayette, California **★★★★★ — ang\_kitchen\_2014, Sept. 2015** > Kathy helped us on a kitchen remodel in 2015. She and her team came up with a brilliant design that we had never considered. > We had never remodeled before and weren't sure what to expect. > Kathy had told us that she would do just as much as we wanted her to do, Once they came up with the actual design and drawings I had a vision of what I wanted and went with it. Kathy helped along the way; I ran many of my ideas by her. She really did just what we needed and wanted. > The team always responded quickly to our ideas and changes. I really give Kathy and her team most of the credit for the beautiful kitchen I now have. Her design and drawings provided almost all of the inspiration we needed. **★★★★★ — pbehmand, Dec. 2014** > Kathleen has been at the center of our expansive three-phase home remodel for four years now. She works easily with architects, contractors, subcontractors, specialty designers, and product suppliers. She is very hard working, not easily frustrated, extremely communicative, and just generally nice to be around. Over the years she has grown her support team with similarly friendly and knowledgeable professionals. > > I could name a long list of reasons to hire Kathleen Burke Design, but two stand out: attention to detail and vision. Kathleen is very thorough. She is meticulous in specifying measurements and calculating quantities and confirming durability and all of those tedious little things that are not fun to manage but can create a disaster if ignored. Kathleen has years of experience but is constantly still acquiring knowledge because she wants to deliver the client's vision. For example, on our project this month she has spent time consulting experts in proper use of radiant heat under a pewter countertop and how to get the desired finish on reclaimed wood for our ceiling. She never steers us toward what is easier for her. > > Kathleen is also very good at helping her clients develop an overall vision for the project and then making sure the various elements of the design are consistent with that vision. She has an excellent predictive sense of small changes that can make an enormous improvement in the feel of a space. We've said many times, "I am so glad Kathleen suggested (moving the wall, changing that light, adding those cabinets)." She's also skilled at coordinating the architecture of the home with the interior design and the landscaping. We've gone with her recommendation on more than one occasion when we would have otherwise chosen differently. Never once have we regretted it. > > I will submit another review and add photos when we get further along in our project because we are barely halfway done. But since we have now worked with Kathleen for about 4 years, I feel quite confident in submitting a 5 star review. We have changed contractors, subcontractors and architects, but we will definitely work with Kathleen until the very end. ## Selected projects - [Past, Present and Future Come Together](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/past-present-and-future-come-together-pj-vj~7805882) - Location: Orinda, CA - Photos: 17 - [Modern Sonoma Farmhouse - New Build](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/modern-sonoma-farmhouse-new-build-pj-vj~6901705) - Location: Sonoma, CA - Photos: 45 - [Tech Savvy But Homey](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/tech-savvy-but-homey-pj-vj~7805884) - Location: Atherton, CA - Photos: 10 - [Lafayette Custom Kitchen & Dining Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/lafayette-custom-kitchen-and-dining-remodel-pj-vj~7502620) - Location: Lafayette, CA - Photos: 20 - [East Bay Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/east-bay-renovation-pj-vj~6977837) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 12 - [Orinda Update](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/orinda-update-pj-vj~7503333) - Location: Orinda, CA - Photos: 13 - [Atherton - New Build - Architecture and Interior](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/atherton-new-build-architecture-and-interior-pj-vj~7598354) - Location: Atherton, CA - Photos: 8 - Description: New build residence.
