> We have worked with Kate Dickson Design on 2 major renovations in our house - Kitchen and bathroom. It was great working with Kate as we had not undergone any sort of major renovations before, so she really helped us understand the overall process and steps involved. From interviewing & choosing a contractor, setting a realistic budget, work back schedules, space planning & of course sourcing & choosing all of the finishes. With Kate's expertise & guidance the whole process felt much less overwhelming.
>
> At the outset of each project, she presented us with 3 potential layout options which was key in the success of our overall renovations. Kate was also at each contractor meeting to help us ask the right questions and her experience dealing with a variety of contractors was a great basis for comparison. Instead of me walking into tile stores (which would totally overwhelm me), Kate brought samples of her recommendations to us to choose from - she brought various combinations of all the finishes to us, so we could get a sense of how it would all look together.
>
> Kate also communicated directly with the contractor at various stages to trouble shoot and answer questions that came up along the way. She went to our house to check in on the progress during the day and meet with the contractor if he needed her to see something. Overall Kate was very organized and helped to keep us on top of all the timelines. We absolutely love our new kitchen & bathroom.

> Kate is extremely professional, detail oriented, creative and patient. She listened well and took the time to really understood my requirements and preferences. The entire process was easy and enjoyable. I will definitely work with Kate again in the future.

> Kate did an excellent job decorating my newly built house. She took the stress away, and made outstanding recommendations that matched our style completely. She is on top of things, and does a great job at following up!

> I cannot tell you how much I loved my experience working with Kate! She is professional, but I really appreciated her flexible, laid back approach. I had been unhappy with the layout of our kitchen/eating area/family room and she took all of my concerns and transformed the space into EXACTLY what I wanted. She truly heard and understood what I wanted for the most heavily used area in my home. The space is now stylish, but also warm, comfortable and inviting. I love it and I will most definitely reach out to Kate again for my next design project.

> We had major structural renovations completed in our home. The kitchen was enlarged by bringing down a structural wall and we dug down (underpinned) our basement - a huge undertaking!
>
> Kate Dickson Design not only helped us with the initial design and layout, she managed the project from beginning to end. This was key in facilitating a major renovation in a household with two working professionals.
>
> Kate's creativity, attention to detail, and focus on client support was absolutely excellent. This was demonstrated at all stages from management of structural work to the choice of final design elements.
>
> We wholeheartedly recommend Kate Dickson Design for any renovation and design project.

**★★★★★ — Charles Balders, July 2015**

> Kate helped my wife and I redesign our open concept main floor. Kate's attention to detail and great sense of style has turned our living space into a functional, attractive and (most importantly) comfortable place to be. Kate guided us with floor plans, furniture and fabric choices and was able match both our personal styles (not a small feat!).

**★★★★ — karinmuchall, July 2015**

> Kate was my designer for my kitchen (and main floor) renovation. I would highly recommend her (and am in fact about to engage her on another piece of work). Kate brings a practical but creative flair to the design and renovation process. Kate respectfully helped me work through some larger floor plan questions that I had to answer and removed all of my concerns around selecting the right products (is it the right colour, will it work together) and staying within budget by shopping with me and/or bringing me 2 - 3 options that I could choose from. She spent a lot of time really understanding my style and this was reflected in the fact that there was never a product choice that she brought to me that didn't delight me - even though I would never have had the courage to pick them myself. I would strongly recommend Kate for her exceptional relationship skills, creativity and ability to deliver a product that matched my style while also pushing me to try something a little different. Two years on I still LOVE my kitchen. Thank you Kate!

**★★★★★ — Tara P, July 2015**

> I had the pleasure of working with Kate Dickson when redesigning my main floor. She was extremely helpful when developing the layout of my renovation and designing my kitchen for optimum efficiency and workspace. Whenever meeting with Kate, she always came prepared with a number of different samples for me to review. She was able to take inspiration from items that I felt were really personal to me and incorporate them into the new design and layout. Renovations cans be stressful and long, it's important to work with people who are professional, patient and knowledgeable. Kate definitely embodies these.

## Community Q&A

**Q: could you kindly share backsplash?** *(in Photo Questions)*

is backsplash marble tiles? or another material? and size pls. thanks

A: Hi The backsplash is marble. These are 3"x6" tiles.

**Q: Window in shower?** *(in Photo Questions)*

My bathroom has a generous bay window area where the bathtub is now. I want to remove it and put the shower in that space. However it has three functioning (opening out) windows and I am wondering what needs to be done to discourage damage to the windows and walls.
We live in Mississauga and may be open to hiring you to design the reno.
Thank you ahead for your time.
Cory

A: The main thing you need to do is have a contractor take a look at the existing window and make sure it is sealed properly and no wood is going to be exposed when the bathroom is finished. This window has a quartz surround to protect against water.

Good luck and feel free to get in touch if you have further questions.

**Q: Where can I buy the medicine cabinet?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This medicine cabinet was custom made by my millworker. We had it made specially to fit the dimensions of the space.

**Q: shower doors** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you share which brand and type of shower doors these are? Thank you!

A: Hi Jessica,
The shower door was done though the contractor with his glass guy. I don't know which glass company he used but I often use Mt. Pleasant Glass and Mirror-talk to Una! Hope you find what you are looking for.

**Q: Black Hardware on Cabinets** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you please tell me the exact brand/name/finish of this beautiful black hardware? thank you.

A: Hello. The pulls are Emtek Brass Trail Pulls in flat black both 10" and 4". emtek.com/cabinet-pulls/brass-trail-pull The knobs are Top Knob Bergen also flat black. https://www.topknobs.com/m1120-bergen-knob-1-1-4-inch.html I purchased everything at Upper Canada Specialty Hardware http://www.ucshshowroom.com/ Hope that helps.

**Q: Backsplash!** *(in Photo Questions)*

What color is the backsplash?

A: Backsplash is white back painted glass tiles. They take on a bit of a blue hue at times during the day as its a very cool white.
