Founded in 2005 by Andrew Nance and Thad Reeves, the office has been positioned as a vehicle for collaboration between themselves and other designers, architects, fabricators, and most importantly: clients.

Specializing in modern architecture and contemporary architecture, A Gruppo Architects engages in a broad range of project types. We have experience in Interior Design, Landscape Design, and a full range of Architectural services for modern or contemporary homes. We feel that thoughtful solutions to our clients’ "design problems" are informed by these experiences as well as ongoing research in the ever-changing fields of architecture, materials, and sustainability.

There are a wide variety of issues impacting the practice of Architecture today. Technology, economics, and sustainability all shape the way architects engage the process. We believe the ongoing discourse of Architecture is a critical component to the process of practicing in this field. At A Gruppo we are constantly mindful of this and value the "conversation" between architect and client as a necessary ingredient for the development of quality projects.

> My wife and I hired A. Gruppo Architects based on viewing their creative past projects. We could never be happier with the decision. We are a little over mid-way into our remodel/addition and the entire process has been smooth. We' re working more closely with Andrew Nance,AIA, one of the partners, and he has kept us informed at every step. He has been extremely dilgent in keeping within our budget and making creative suggestions for ideas. From our first meeting to discuss our plan, to the building of a detailed model, to making sure we understood the contract, to explaining what the workers were doing on site, to materials selections, to making sure that trees were not damaged, we are very pleased and look forward to the finishes, cabinet details, trim and finally move-in. Andrew and Thad have had excellent experience and are meeting deadlines and are a pleasure to work with. We are looking forward to posting a photo of the finished design soon.

> AGruppo renovated a 1958 urban townhome in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas. Total sq footage was 1,150. The project (3615 Gillespie F) turned out flawless. The overall project went smoothly and the design ideas and execution made the project. AGruppo (Thad Reeves) has confidence in his decisions and ideas and understands what it takes to get things built right the first time.
> I will work with AGruppo again and again. They have great design minds but are also willing to roll up their sleeves to make it right.

> We hired Agruppo to design this addition for our home. They listened, engaged us in dialogue and pushed us to imagine the best design and usage for our needs. We could not be happier with the entire process and, of course, the final product- our amazing sleeping house! We came in with ideas and Andrew and Thad added their magic and turned our dreams into a fantastic reality. Agruppo designed the entire project and also oversaw the construction phase. What we appreciated most was their honesty and attention to detail. Just as impressive was Andrew's directness during construction when things (as is the norm during construction) didn't always go as planned and the fact that he kept us within our budget. We would recommend Andrew and Thad to any family expecting a first class design plan from a firm who is honest, loyal and ready and able to put in the hard work and time needed to complete a project that exceeds expectations.

> I hired Thad and his amazing team after meeting with 3 other architects that a) didn't seem too interested in the project or b) wanted to implement all of their ideas and not take into account any of my preferences. Throughout the entire process, I could not have asked for a more patient, attentive, communicative, detail oriented, and respectful team. I came in with a style and direction of my own and they gladly included me in every step of the design and materials selection. The end result is a home that I LOVE. Along the many hurdles (2 not so great contractors, and a seemingly non-existent timetable)....Thad went above and beyond and provided a level of service that transcended from that of a business transaction to one of a friendship. I would have been lost, taken advantage of, and broke if it was not for these guys. Thad's attention to detail, project management skills, record keeping, and commitment to seeing the project through produced a product and an experience that I could not be happier with. I look forward to working with him again in the future on future projects. I cannot say enough praise for A.Gruppo. Highly recommend!

 - Description: This small house, on a typical 50'x150' lot in East Dallas was conceived of as way to enhance a connection to the site. The client was an avid gardener and challenged us with the problem of how to live on the entire site. This desire, coupled with a modest budget, necessitated a small footprint. At 1450 sf the house lives much larger than that due to it's connection to the outdoors and the thoughtful use of natural light. This project was completed while working with TKTR Architects.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Under the corrugate metal container** *(in Photo Questions)*

What did you put under the containers to keep them off ground?

A: The owner added the planters. It looks like he used bricks to raise them off the ground.

**Q: Gloss finish on ply floor** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi I love the flooring!
Can I use a high gloss finish on wbp flooring. I need to be able to mop it easily.
Many thanks

A: Hi I believe the finish is a high gloss polyurethane that was used on these plywood floors. Hope that helps.

**Q: Horizontal privacy screen** *(in Photo Questions)*

Are the horizontal slats metal or wood? If they are metal, may I kindly ask the width and gage of the metal? Thank you!

A: The slats are metal. They are Steel flat bars that are approximately 2" wide. They are roughly 11 ga. in thickness. I hope that helps.

**Q: paint color?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi. I'm not sure I have that information. The paint was specified by the original owner who has since sold the house. Sorry I couldn't help.

**Q: Flooring** *(in Photo Questions)*

How did you spec the plywood and osb floors?

A: Hi Blake, Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I didn't see this come in. The floors are normal plywood with a light sanding and polyurethane finish. Hope that helps.

**Q: Clear Paneling Material?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is this a special plastic or a frosted glass/plexiglass material? I've heard of architects using a material called Lucite for this kind of situation before. I love the look. Industrial chic!

A: Hi. Sorry for not answering this sooner. I didn't realize the question was in our box. The product is a polycarbonate panels made by Polygal. Hope that helps.
