Previously, we had designed our own renovations. We started with this one but quickly became overwhelmed by the project. Jen picked up from where we began and made render after render, showing us how each of our many ideas might look. She also ordered tile and laminate samples from the mainland and Honolulu that arrived very quickly (within a day or two) allowing us to actually see and feel what the materials and colors would look like in the rooms. Once we decided on the tile, she made more renders to show what different layouts would look like. We had never worked with a designer before, thinking it too expensive and not wanting the kind of non-personal look that you often see with "designed houses". But Jen worked with us, never trying to force her personal taste on the project, and was very respectful of our budget. She smoothed over the edges of the process, making it much less stressful and less expensive. You don’t need a big and showy house to make use of a designer.
