### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Kathleen Merrow, July 2025**

> I am extremely happy with the results of the landscaping work done by Donna and crew. For once I had a good experience working with a contractor who communicated readily, answering questions, responding to concerns, and keeping me informed of work progress and scheduling. I had substantial work done. In my backyard I needed old rotten retaining walls replaced with new juniper, a rotten deck removed and replaced/relocated, also of juniper, a lengthy 4'-wide paver path put in, and the resulting new garden bed spaces planted with northwest native shrubs and perennials per the plans of Lydia Cox of Radish Gardens. I also had drip irrigation installed. All materials used were high quality. Everyone working on the project had the appropriate expertise. I would single out Brian for his knowledge about working with juniper which is a bit more challenging than cedar. All the work--wood, clay pavers, planting-- was great. I felt that they were very intent that their work produced a good result. A particular challenge that caused me much concern initially was the giant red cedar tree growing right in the middle of the sole access to my backyard. All were very careful to protect the tree's roots. At one point Donna got advice from an arborist to make sure that installing the paver path would not harm the tree's roots. I ceased to worry, confident that my tree would be respected and cared for. They also vouch for their work after it is finished. One of the juniper boards in the deck splintered after exposure to rain and then high temperatures. It was quickly replaced and I have had no further problems. I am enjoying my new backyard and will absolutely hire them again (I unfortunately have still more rotten retaining walls in the front I am waiting out before replacing). They know what they are doing and they do it right.

> Donna and crew were excellent. Great communicators, provided realistic timelines that they honored and if there were any changes brought them forward immediately. We loved Donna's great ideas, she worked well with our designer and actually improved the design with her incredible knowledge and expertise. She focused on the environmental impact of the landscape and the landscape's impact on the environment. We 100% recommend Donna, her crew and her sub contractors. We plan to use her for future projects.

**Comment from Donna Burdick:**

> Thank you Kelly. It was definitely a big project with so many improvements to your space and a canopy of Trees.

**★★★★★ — HU-110063375, Nov. 2022**

> We worked with Donna and her crew at D & J Landscape twice in the last year--once to do a massive overhaul of our front and back yards and then again to do some tweaks to our patio area and parking strip. These totaled ~6 weeks of work on site and included fixing drainage issues, adding in irrigation, removing existing lawn, paving a patio, piping in natural gas, building a fence/gate, planting trees, laying paths, and developing/planting new garden beds. I fully recommend working with Donna and team if you are undertaking any of these sort of projects.
>
> Communication: Donna is exceptionally clear and reliable in her communication. Things happen when she says they will (ex: team will show up at 8:30, I will be there at 9) and has great follow up (ex: if we briefly discussed tweaking the placement of something, she will reliably followup with the crew and me to make sure it is done).
>
> Crew: Donna's crew and her contractor connections (ex: plumber) are top-notch. The crew works super hard and ensures no detail is skipped. Every little thing is measured, leveled, and cleaned up. They are awesome problem solvers who let you know tradeoffs of doing something X vs Y way.
>
> Quality of work: Donna is able to capture the aesthetic of what you want and deliver it cleanly and professionally. There are no cut corners or things that stick out the moment the crew has left. Every few weeks after completing the projects, Donna would check in to make sure we liked what was done and ensure we were able to use and maintain the space as we wanted.

**Comment from Donna Burdick:**

> I loved working with you on your projects. The collaborative process with you made the project enjoyable.

**★★★★★ — pkresnick, July 2022**

> We were referred to Donna by a landscape designer that planned a completely new look for our property. Donna and the crew removed the existing lawn, created patios and paths with different types of hardscape products called for in the design plan. They planted trees, shrubs, perennials and ground covers. She went above and beyond expectations to find the vast variety of materials and plants of quality. Everything was skillfully created and planted with care for years of enjoyment. We are extremely pleased with the entire project. D & J Landscape Contractors are experts in their field!

**Comment from Donna Burdick:**

> What an honor to install a project for such a knowledgeable and experienced designer and plant enthusiast. Thank you, Pam

**★★★★★ — HU-189958676, June 2020**

> Donna and her amazing crew transformed our front yard and south facing garden from an overgrown and overwhelming mess into to space of beauty and solace. We asked for rocks (two varieties), native plants and perennials-as well as a water tolerant succulent desert garden (south facing).
> Best investment we have made in our property. I’d give them 10 stars if I could!

**Comment from Donna Burdick:**

> I love that you described your new space as, a “space of beauty and solace” .

**★★★★★ — Jaymie Mackler, April 2020**

> If I could give Donna and her crew more than 5 stars I would. They transformed the front of my home from an eyesore to a place we love to spend time. We had a plan and they executed it well while helping to troubleshoot along the way with hardscape as well as the plantings. They are professional, kind, communicate well, and take great pride in their work. They continue to check on their work a year later to make sure everything is growing well. They are by far the best of any contracting company we have hired to work on our older home.

**Comment from Donna Burdick:**

> Each project is unique and the challenges are what keep us loving our work. Thank you, Jaymie

**★★★★★ — Charlene Hiss, Oct. 2019**

> Donna and her crew are wonderful. Great planning, communication, execution, attention to detail, knowledge and skill, followup, advice and assistance. I highly recommend D & J.

**Comment from Donna Burdick:**

> Thank you, Charlene. We work hard to meet and surpass your expectations.

**★★★★★ — Roger Lunt, Oct. 2019**

> We have been working with Donna and Jamie and crew for more than 25 years at two residences. Donna walks our property regularly and comes up with creative solutions; our beautiful yard is the evidence! When we have an event, we know we can count on extra yard prep help. Finally, the crew is uniformly friendly and hard-working. Billing is very transparent and itemized in every detail.

**Comment from Donna Burdick:**

> What a pleasure to transform not one but two of your homes gardens. We love the history of our relationship with you.

**★★★★★ — Sharon Hutchens, Sept. 2019**

> We have used D & J landscaping on our house now and a previous house. They are very professional and personable. Very easy to work with. Their style is very unique. They have great ideas for your landscaping.
> I highly recommend D & J Landscaping!

**Comment from Donna Burdick:**

> Thank you, Sharon. Yes, two gardens installed in collaboration with you as an added bonus to the process.

**★★★★★ — Mark Stevenson, Sept. 2019**

> Donna and her team implemented beautifully the landscape design another designer prepared. It's one thing to look at a design on paper, another to see it done and in place. It exceeded our expectations. Donna knows her stuff and our impression is that much of her team has been with her for years.

**★★★★★ — Larry Pexton, Sept. 2019**

> My wife and I were absolutely thrilled with the design and installation of our complete landscaping of our mid-Century modern home by D&J. There were honest competent and diligent in trying to interpret our desires in ways we couldn't imagine on our own. Donna, partnered with Victor Vencill's superlative fencing and decking skills, helped us achieve the home of our dreams. We spent twice what we thought and got a result beyond anything we could have imagined.
>
> We would do it again in a heartbeat.

**★★★★★ — Maryann Bond, July 2017**

> Donna is very professional, hardworking and an excellent communicator. We felt comfortable sharing ideas with her. Donna and her team reclaimed our backyard by removing the lawn and sculpting a space of walkways, beautiful flowers, a rain garden and a water feature.

**Comment from Donna Burdick:**

> Mary Ann, Thank you for the opportunity to transform your Lawn into a Garden!
