A: I believe it is technically it is a quartzite the stone name is Sky Fall and it is translucent like onyx so beautiful with or without the back lighting. **Q: Do you know the name of the backsplash?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: Ivory travertine 3x6 with Florida Bliss linear strip mosaic color "SPA" thank you for asking. **Q: Southwest bedroom, help please** *(in Design Dilemma)* I live in a small apartment so I have to store things in my bedroom as my living room is full as well. I have a few items from the living room I could bring in if need be: ram skull, deer skull, wall wrought iron 3 candle holder, 3 small watercolor Santa Fe prints (theses aren’t old ones, so they have a new style, not the ugly 80s or 90s pastels), a big New Mexico Frederick Remington print from art.com, a wood box and maybe 1 or 2 other small items. The toolbox is for jewelry as everything out there is too feminine or the inside cloth on most get dusty and nasty over time. Not sure if you can see the deer hide and dream catcher behind the bikes. I’m going for a more antique look, hence the darker wood, ideally I’d like to go more 1500s here but I don’t have the budget, but even modern would is ok. A: Removing the drapery panel and replace with a Black Wood Blind and painting walls would be inexpensive also. I love SW Design look at the HGTV 2019 giveaway home for more inspiration on paint color. A: Signature Hardware **Q: Before and After Kitchen- Same Cabinets New Look** *(in Before & After)* We moved into a 70's style colonial that screamed babyboomers. There was no shortage of plaid & heart stencils; both popular style choices of the 80's & 90's. The whole house was painted a shade of burgundy or beige. Paint, and removing a few partial walls, gave us a bright, airy space to live and enjoy. We kept the original kitchen cabinets to save money and updated the finishes, yielding fabulous results. A half wall was removed to insert a peninsula and counter for quick meals and homework. Each room has since been updated, leaving the original home unrecognizable and drastically more spacious, on a tight budget. A: Hi Darcy, how exciting congrats on your new home. Yes painting cabinets can make BIG changes, you want to make sure you go about it correctly however. If not the paint will chip off quickly and look worse than original.
