> Matt is the man and his company Sawhorse is a well oiled machine!! I own a glass company and work in conjunction with Matt and his PM's. From our perspective it is a fantastic experience. The work is always top notch. The jobsites are neat and organized. Plus their scheduling is air tight. The whole process is buttery smooth. We couldn't ask for better guys to work alongside. Plus the end result is amazing. Matt has some really unique and cool ideas. His vision is one of a kind!!! 10/10 would recommend again and again!

**★★★★★ — HU-420492375, Dec. 2023**

> Working with Matt on the construction of my rental house in Home Park, Atlanta, GA was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to quality craftsmanship truly set them apart.
>
> From the initial planning stages to the final walkthrough, Matt demonstrated a deep understanding of the intricacies of construction. They were not only skilled in their craft but also displayed excellent communication throughout the entire process. Any concerns or questions I had were promptly addressed, fostering a transparent and collaborative working relationship.
>
> The project was completed within the agreed-upon timeline, and the end result exceeded my expectations. The attention to detail and commitment to delivering a high-quality product were evident in every corner of the house. The craftsmanship is superb, and I am confident that the property will stand the test of time.
>
> Beyond their technical expertise, Matt also impressed me with their dedication to customer satisfaction. They were not just building a house; they were creating a home tailored to my vision and needs. I wholeheartedly recommend \[Builder's Name\] to anyone seeking a reliable, skilled, and customer-focused builder. It was a pleasure to work with them, and I am beyond satisfied with the results. **★★★★★ — James Pirch, May 2022**

> As a designer of high-performance custom homes and remodels, it's especially critical for me to know which contractors I can depend on to deliver a high-quality, or else all my work is just a waste of paper. My reputation's on the line when I offer my clients a referral, and I'm proud to share the name Sawhorse construction!

**★★★★★ — allisonfriedman, Dec. 2020**

> I have worked with Matt on a project and resource to provide education and training on sustainable building practices and materials, for both consumers and professionals. Matt has a passion and energy level and a desire to "do things right" that is unrivaled. He puts his all into everything he does, and he's always looking to learn more and to keep improving building methods and to find better, more efficient ways to deliver the best result. "Can't" is a word that does not seem to be in Matt's vocabulary. Matt also knows what he's talking about - he's got decades of experience and an educational background in building science and construction. I look forward to continuing to work with Matt, on training and educational projects, and on building projects.

**★★★★★ — Scarlett Malpass Tassone, Jan. 2020**

> Sawhorse did an incredible job on my first floor renovation! We did a floor to ceiling renovation of our kitchen, including knocking out a few walls and repurposing a back hallway area into a large mudroom. We also renovated a bathroom, laundry room and wet bar, all exactly to our specifications and redid all the flooring on the whole first floor of the home. Sawhorse absolutely exceeded my expectations. The work was impeccable and the communication from management made the entire process a breeze. Thank you Sawhorse!

**Comment from SawHorse Design + Build:**

## Community Q&A

**Q: Area under deck** *(in Porches & Decks)*

Hi,
I don't know what to do to be utilize the area under the deck. Any suggestions be appreciated.

A: Can you send over an image?

**Q: Help with this banister** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi everybody - we close on our new home soon and are moving in June. We temporarily considered restaining the floors, but after getting quotes we decided to keep the floors as is (they are in excellent condition, so it was for pure aesthetic reasons) and invest that money in other areas. I can deal with the tone of wood on the floors, but in the entryway to the house, it overwhelms - floor, stairs, banister. I am thinking a banister update can help but I am not sure what to do. Any suggestions? The hallyway will be painted in either agreeable gray or Behr roman plaster (or perhaps SW grecian ivory), depending on what looks best when we get in the house. There is white trim that you can't see here. TIA for your expertise!

A: Since it is stain grade already- I would leave it alone. It you are going for a more modern look, then here is an ideabook that I created for my clients- https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/129082810/list/modern-stairs

**Q: Clawfoot tub shower height?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Could someone tell me the height of a gooseneck shower from the floor? I'm trying to figure out how high the ceiling should be.

A: Really depends on the rub and faucet that you choose. I would put at least an 8 foot ceiling in place. Are you dealing with a tight space?

**Q: Repairing crown molding that was not installed seamlessly.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I’d like to know if anyone has any tips on how to repair crown molding that was installed improperly- the area where the pieces meet have a slight raise to them- they do not join seamlessly.

A: Can you take a picture to share with us?

**Q: Need Help Choosing Wall Color to Match Tile** *(in Paint)*

i absolutely hate colors in the beige family however this tile is too new to replace. So I am looking for other color options that I can use on the walls that will match my tile color. I like greys and other neutral colors but I have no design sense whatsoever. Can anyone advise a color to use that would match my tile? This house is located in Florida if that helps

A: I see 3-4 colors in that flooring. I would pick the lightest of the 3 and go several shades lighter for the walls giving you an off white. The beige is currently soaking up all of the light so white paint will help reflect the light and brighten up the room.

**Q: Renovating a fireplace** *(in Home Repair)*

I want to change the look of this fireplace to Scandinavian look for a mountain condo I’m renovating. Walls will be very light grey with whTie trim and floors are light beige vinyl plank. I’m looking for help with ideas. Has anyone done vertical tongue and groove?

A: Can you share an image of what is there now?
