He lives in Brazil, visits about once a month, and is not the easiest person to deal with. > We were paying for the remodel, living in CT and visiting about once a month. We are detail oriented and hands on. But distant and busy. > Both the contractor and John had to deal with disagreements between us and our father-in-law. We are not easy! > We fired the prior contractor who did very little work over 9 months. And then had to deal with his pettiness/interference in the job. > John helped us interview new contractors. The new contractor was competent but not proactive or a good communicator. > Dealing with the building had its challenges. > Lots of snags: We lost our kitchen order because of delays of 9 months. Had to start from scratch with a different supplier. He was patient and attentive to the intricate details my wife and I envisioned for the project. His communication is excellent. He was also flexible and helpful when it came to building requirements and permitting. For example, our project permit application was approved with a straight concrete driveway connecting the street to our new garage. After construction we decided to explore the possibility of a paver circular driveway design. A change at that point in the project was not simple. The permit revision request required a property survey review for new drawings and impervious surface calculations. John worked through the situation quickly and seamlessly, even connecting with city officials to make sure the new driveway details were acceptable, ensuring there was no hold up.
