Doug is a nice guy, I totally agree, it was his workers that failed him, what ever dispute they had going on was taken out on the work done on my home. Some of the works just stood around drinking coffee not working, there was NO insulation put in my windows and even though I called them back, the job still was not completed properly as they just did not want to put a ladder up and examine the job done. There are such bad drafts in my windows I wish I had never set a contract with this company, they failed to deliver, I am v v disappointed as my hard earned money has gone to waste, be aware of the workmanship with this company, no words to express my feelings. They were truly excellent, and we were extremely pleased with the results. Our house is a small stucco 1930 English Tudor, the existing kitchen was small, awkward, and very poorly organized, built partly under the stairs to the second floor. Two people could not work in that space without getting in each others way, and large windows that looked out on our driveway left minimal space for wall cabinets. Over the years we had various contractors in, but none of the plans they offered seemed worth the cost, for $50,000 we would still have a small awkward but more modern kitchen. When Double D came, they told us what we needed was a kitchen designer, and they put us in touch with one, Ellen Lopez, who worked very hard on our project. Ellen eventually came up with a brilliant plan that reorganized the walls, creating a much better space. Double D arranged everything else, (village rules required architect's drawings since we were altering one load bearing internal wall), and carried out the plan beautifully. Our kitchen is now a pleasure to work in, and has changed the entire ambience of our first floor. When our grandchildren first saw it on FaceTime, they thought we had a new house. All of the craftsmen from Double D were excellent. Of course there were some unexpected problems that were found once the walls were opened up, and some problems with scheduling subcontractors but the office manager Andrea was very helpful and always came up with ways to keep the process moving along. All in all this was an excellent job, and I would recommend them without hesitation. Andrea also made sure the job was finished (just) in time for our big family seder, our son brought along a friend who was a professional cook who told us HE would be happy to have our kitchen. Electric & gas was done by our trade associates and curving of the Azek decking material was done by our carpenters according to the manufacturers instructions and specifications. We won a NARI Regon I COTY Contractor of the Year Award for this project. The award is one of the 13 Region I COTY's we've won dating back to 1989 (our first) We have won 2 National COTY's for kitchens we remodeled in East Hills. But for the owners it was just a right time to transform the most popular place in the house. The goal was to expand the kitchen, add more storage, create custom design and use that window area for a beautiful window bench. We went with the white color as was requested from the owners, created one bigger and more functional island instead of two small ones. The ceiling is gorgeous and gave us an opportunity to be more creative. All the materials used in this project are from high end brands, so the kitchen can stay beautiful and functional at the same time for many years to come. A touch of charm to it..... **Q: Traditional Red Brick Colonial** *(in Before & After)* This property transformation involved knocking down the original brick home and building a new 6,000 sq. ft. Traditional Red Brick Colonial in it's place. Long Island, NY A: Wow! Well done! **Q: Before & After Kitchen in Potomac, Maryland** *(in Before & After)* Design by \#MeghanBrowne4JenniferGilmer in Potomac, Maryland. Simple design changes created a large impact on the way the kitchen functions and how it flows with the rest of the home. The original footprint featured 2 small openings leading to a hallway and to the living room. By closing off the hallway opening and expanding the opening to the living room, we immediately gained an open flow between the kitchen and living room without sacrificing wall space for storage. Peruvian walnut was used for the seating end of island, which adds warmth to the kitchen.
