**Q: Front door color?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

house pic below. Almost done with this project. Any ideas on house door color? The panel to the right will have frosted glass installed this week. We were thinking of trying to match the garage door, however now in two minds. If a different color..which? charcoal? something else? thanks!

A: Hi Amit- What a pretty home! I love the garage doors, and the addition of those windows! Very sharp!
I would suggest that you could go a few ways, but by the suggestion of charcoal, I am thinking you are not looking for a pop of color.
Have you considered a very handsome Black door?  Matte Black door would be a beautiful and modern finish for this house and quite unexpected!
Maybe something like this...  
If you are feeling bold, I think an amazing Yellow door would be very designer.

**Q: Flooring for unheated mudroom near pool. Suggestions please!!!** *(in Flooring)*

Hi! Looking for flooring options for a basement mudroom that is the entry from our backyard. We have a pool and kids are constantly walking through mudroom to the bathroom. For obvious reasons, it has to be waterproof and can't be slippery. The walls are insulated insulated, but there is no other heating element in the room. I don't want carpet, hardwood, or vinyl. I read that tile is very durable, waterproof, and is easy to clean, but I'm concerned about cracking in freezing temperatures. (No, there is no room in budget for radiant flooring, as some tile articles suggest).  I'm intrigued by a brick floor, but wondering if that will also crack.  I don't care about my feet feeling cold as we literally just walk through the room (kids also have their lockers there). We live in Northern NJ and winters can get pretty brutal. Any suggestions are appreciated!!

A: While Concrete can be pretty, it will also be super slippery when wet, would be my concern here.
Have you considered CoreTec?  This flooring is waterproof and has a lifetime warranty when installed in a residential space.  It will not be slippery, but will have the look of hardwood.
Thats the route I would suggest for this particular space!

**Q: Mixing metals-bathroom faucet** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are remodeling most of our house and I put off deciding on a faucet for the powder room and then ultimately forgot (pregnancy brain and small kids).  since our plumbers are coming tomorrow to install all of our fixtures like, I picked up two options at a big box store.  I like the look of mixing metals in a bathroom but I also want it to work. the scones will be aged brass, out of these two faucets which do you think goes better with the room (polished chrome and brushed nickel). Sorry for the poor picture quality but these were taken at night (last pic shows tile in daylight).

A: Hello! That tile is gorgeous!  Because it has cool and warm tones, this is the best bathroom to do your mixed metals in.  In my opinion brass fixtures can tend to make a place feel dated sooner than later.  I would stick with nickel faucets for the sink and shower/bath and leave your cute brass lighting.  Then I would purchase some warm wood baskets and fill them with grey handtowels to repeat the mixed metal, when the warm wood is reminscent of the gold tones and the grey of the silver tones.  Keep the process going throughout the space and it will still feel expensive, without dating it, and setting you up to have to replace them in the future.
This will be more of a timeless design! ♥

**Q: Paint color for new house? help!** *(in Paint)*

Fiancé and I will be moving into our new house in about a month. One of the first items we want to tackle is painting, as the builders just paint it an off-white color. Our color palette so far is pretty grey and white — grey LVT in the kitchen, white cabinets and white countertops. Carpet will also be grey. 

We don’t have much furniture yet with the exception of our dining room table, which we built. It’s a dark walnut top with matte black legs. 

For paint, I’ve been thinking maybe a light blue-grey or just grey? I am not the most adventurous with my design choices, so I’m open to suggestions!

A: I love the black combination with the white and grey and warm wood.

**Q: White on white?!** *(in Home Decorating)*

Buying a house! Wanting to paint chestnut stained kitchen cabinets white...but also thinking about painting the entire house interior white before moving in. Too much white? I feel under pressure to get the house painted before moving in, and yet it feels overwhelming to decide on color before I know what to do with the rooms. White seems fresh/safe, and I know I want the white kitchen. The kitchen is open layout overlooking breakfast nook and living room. Will the “all white kitchen” lose its appeal if the other walls are also white? Help! Ha :)

A: Hi Elizabeth! White is the new grey and the trend is starting to take hold on the coastal cities of the US right now.... so depending on where you are this space would be ahead of its time for a renovation.
I recently did a house design, and we ended up using Swiss Coffee from Benjamin Moore, and in the swatch it looks off white, but in the space it reads warm white.  I love that it makes my molding pop as a brighter white, and it doesnt read Hospital Stark white.  When doing so make sure it will match your cabinets.  I ended up doing wood uppers and black lowers in the space I am doing, but white on white on white can never go wrong, and will always feel large and clean! Good luck to you!

**Q: Spanish bathroom vanity** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi All - 

I am remodeling 2 bathrooms and am looking for a Spanish inspired bathroom vanity.  The room colors, including stone, will be neutral, but I would like maybe a vanity with a Moorish look or Spanish,  not too heavy.   Does anyone have any ideas outside of custom?   I can't find anything on the web.

A: Hi Julianna, I would go to a local flea market and find a console or vanity that is the 36" height and then you can easily have a contractor/plumber install your sink to that top!  For me I have to spend lots of time curating and locating finds like this.  Try Facebook For Sale, Craigslist, Habitat for Humanity and do a search to see if there is any recycled furniture stores.  Let them know what you are looking for and they can keep an eye out for you.
The perfect piece may take some time to find, but will be worth the wait in the end! Good luck! Please post a pic when it is complete!
Another idea is to use a cut out like this picture, and paint it a different color from the wall.  It will bring a moorish feel and make a wooden vanity take on a worldly feel without it needing to be too fancy!
