**★★★★★ — Liven UP design, Nov. 2014**

> Working with Sheri and Jon was nothing short of amazing! We had a dark corner in our family room that needed SOMEthing... They suggested a lighting fixture and then brainstormed ideas, drew plans and pretty much knew exactly what would work for our space. Drawing inspiration form what already existed in the room, they created a piece that really complimented our design aesthetic. The end result has transformed and enlivened the room beyond what we could have imagined! AND I love that the lighting fixture was made from scraps and with such care and precision.

> Sheri was the most wonderful person to work with. She was a real proffesional. She kept me up to date with what was going on. She worked to find the best and most cost efficient shipping. She was extremely timely. Returning my emails within an hour or two of them being sent. She was also very very curteous and kind. Above all, her product, her art is beautiful. I ordered a made to order pelican, that had special requirements which she was more than happy to accommodate. My pelican arrived well packaged and intact. I couldn't have had a better overall experience nor could I have been more pleased with the product.

> Few things in life or art go as expected. Fewer exceed one's expectations. Sheri Fox of Scraphound Studio is the glorious exception. She creates big personalities out of recycled metal. She is not merely exceedingly talented, she is also professional, smart and creative. I wanted three different bird sculptures to perch on existing cut logs. The spacing is tight and inflexible. She set the bar very high with her first sculpture, then dazzled us with her second and thrilled us with the third. At a time when few take pride in their efforts and disappointment is the norm, Sheri Fox is an inspiration and source of hope. You will only be delighted with her work and impressed by who she is as a person and artist.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love this! What are the measurements?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Thanks so much! This piece was 7" wide x 28" tall. It can be made up to 8" wide for the same price. I'm happy to quote you a price for a specific size too, just let me know how I can help!

**Q: Least wanted household guests?** *(in Polls)*

Despite our best efforts, even the most gorgeous homes sometimes have a pest or two.

Of the choices here, which one is your least wanted uninvited guest?

A: I wish we had bats, though I'm petrified of them getting tangled in my hair. Worth it though to get rid of mosquitoes. We have all the above pests but I think the termites cause the most damage and are hardest to eradicate, so termites for me (especially since I just built a new redwood porch and replaced many feet of siding).

**Q: Bulletproof Wood Floors?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi all - I have a real challenge for you, but I think you Houzzers are up to the task.

We're getting ready to re-do the floors in our 1968 home in Northern California, to get rid of the mish-mash of tile (two different kinds!), wall-to-wall and wood. We'd like to unify this big, bright, airy space with an all-wood floor, but whatever we chose must fit these criteria:
\- resist scratching by Tonka toys and dog nails (our friends have young children and we have a playful 60+lb dog)
\- accommodate wet and sometimes muddy feet/paws (this is a casual, country place with a pool just outside the back door)
\- be cleanable with a steam mop (did I mention the muddy paws?)
\- not be stratospherically expensive

Aesthetically, the house is warm modern, so we don't want anything too rustic/cottage-y. On the other hand, although the kitchen cabinets and living room bookshelves are Ikea blonde, we don't want to go that light with the flooring, for fear the overall effect would be too cold. The front door is a reddish/orange wood (possibly cherry or maple with a cherry stain). Ideally, the floor we choose would have enough variations in color to unite the two existing types of wood, without having such an active grain that it would be dizzying over such a large space.

Thoughts?

A: I second the suggestion by Gina re: Cali Bamboo flooring. Strand bamboo is incredible! It's not the easiest to install because it's so incredibly durable, but a pro would have no problem. We used a medium tone in our coastal/eclectic beach cottage. It's so warm and inviting and blends beautifully with all our artwork, walnut-toned shoji, white trim, green/yellow/aqua walls. I think it would also compliment your mellower palette. It is almost impossible to scratch, doesn't show pet fur or dust and cleans really easily. Also bamboo is naturally anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. Ours (and maybe all strand bamboo) is an eco-friendly product as it's made with non-toxic resin and the leftovers from regular bamboo flooring. I also have a contractor friend who has used Cali Bamboo and been very happy with the service and product. I'd be happy to send a pic of mine if it would help. Good luck!
