> Tim Beasley and his workers have done first rate work. They have always been responsive and have a very wide range of craft talents. Our arrangement has been hourly and has worked well. His current main worker, Brad Gumm, is tremendously talented. The project has been years in the making and we are very pleased with the results.

> Tim power washed and stained my log cabin. He also pointed out some leaks ocurring around the flue from my wood stove and replaced the dried and cracked caulking that was the cause. As this cabin is a second home for my wife and I and a fair distance from our main home, I asked Tim if he would arrange to do the work without me being there.
>
> Tim was very reliable, did what he said he was going to do and insisted that I check the work and was completely satisfied before paying him. I would use Tim again in a heart beat and recommend him without reservation.

> Mr. Beasley served as the general contractor for the construction of our second home, a modular cabin. Even though he had never dealt with modulars before, he took the job. He arranged for the modular walls for the basement, excavation, plumbing, electrical, and well. His own team designed and built the second floor porch and first floor deck. We learned about modulars together. He was willing to work with us as modifications became necessary because of the idiosyncracies of the modular assembly process. We love our cabin and continue to use his company for further work on the cabin as money becomes available. We consider Mr. Beasley to be one of our friends, and recommend him to others who have asked about our cabin.

 - Description: The Plecker Cowpasture River Cabin is a dilapidation rescue. That means the original antique structure was uninhabitable and required a complete restoration. We moved the white oak structure, which was built around 1810, nearly 60 miles from its original location in a country field to its current riverfront. Homeowner Tim Plecker designed and engineered the entire project. Country Mountain Homes strives to use as much of the original structure as possible. We used the original logs, upstairs flo…

## Community Q&A

**Q: What is the square footage of this structure?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Also, is this a custom build from a variety of logs built to a plan from reclaimed timbers or a relocation and restoration of an existing structure?

A: TM H
This was a structure we rescued from Harrisburg PA area and reconstructed in VA. we did minimal log repair / replacement and stacked the logs just as they were removed. We used the chestnut roof sheeting for trim and kitchen cabinet materials. the addition was a separate structure and houses the bathroom /laundry, so it was not original to the other. the main pen is a 18x24 half loft (could have been a full upper story) so as pictured its about 650 sq ft. the bath addition is one story - 10 x16 add 160 sq.ft

**Q: Sealant for logs** *(in Photo Questions)*

What did you use to seal the logs and are they new or antique logs? I'm building a log home and want this aged look. Thanks

A: Sheila, The logs are antique logs. we only seal the logs with a cheap type clear sealant - Thompsons Water sealer -only reason we seal is to "hold" the borate on long enough to be effective. the only way to replicate the patina of the logs is with old logs. Love the old dense logs!

**Q: Where are the bed covers from?!** *(in Photo Questions)*

In the UK, where can you buy these?!

A: not sure

**Q: Front of Cabin (Exterior)** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have a cedar-sided lake cabin & love the front porch BUT the 2nd story front is all wrong (also - we haven't landscaped yet). There was supposed to be a third larger window between the two bedroom windows but it was over the upstairs shower and code enforcement wouldn't let us put the same height window in an upstairs shower. Any ideas how to fill up that weird space? Maybe a fake window? Or a real transom window over the shower? Hubby thought some kind of architectural/wrought iron artwork would be good. Your ideas welcomed!

A: I like the V ideas from leelee or the barn quilt idea from barbiej53. If you're looking for barn quilts, here is an artist local to us who has been selling his pieces like hot cakes! They're beautiful! https://www.facebook.com/harveybarnquilts

**Q: love the stone, what color and make. is it a venire** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Thanks, Derrick! Great minds...... ;)

**Q: How much would it cost to build this exact style home?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I live in kingsland ga and this is my dream home
