After the door had been on the job for 3 months it cracked completely through. AppWood contended that it was due to field finishing vs their factory finish. They replaced the door with a factory custom finish and the second door cracked within 2-3 months of installation. AppWood committed in writing to repair or replace the door. It took approximately a year but App wood sucesefully re-engineered the door and replaced it with a new design that withstands the low humidity of Colorado. The new door has been in place for approximately 4 months and is performing as designed. We have worked with your builder to replace the door with a different construction that should be more appropriate for your local climate. The original door did go out unfinished against our better judgement and we think that may have been part of the issue. We did repair that door anyway and unfortunately it did fail as well. We do intend to have a satisfied client in the end so we have agreed to re-engineer and re-build the door and honor Dennis's commitment. Please know we are in the process of completing the new door drawings for production and building a new door to meet your expectations. These doors came from an old house and I bought them from a salvage yard. However, my builder did not install them properly. I don’t think he knows how. Could you point me in the right direction? A: Where are you located? If your close to us we could send someone out to install the doors. Did the doors come pre-hung in a jamb or do you just have 2 doors? Typically, the doors are hung in a jamb that slides into the rough opening with 1/2 to 1 inch of clearance. The you shim to plumb and square and secure the jamb to the studs.
