The best measure of a contractor is whether you would hire him again. Well, we have already recommended him to friends, and if we ever build another home, we would hire him again. It took about one year to complete our home, and we found Chris to be honest, a calming presence, and extremely pleasant to work with. He was cognizant of and respected our budget, and any overages (which were maybe 7%) were due to changes we intentionally made. And, his work is of the highest quality. A wire brush was used to remove the softer grain and give more texture to the panels. **Q: Floor** *(in Photo Questions)* This flooring Is great. Wood or tile? A: Hello. This is a white oak floor that was fumed with ammonia. **Q: Are bleached oak floors more susceptible to direct from foot reaffix?** *(in Photo Questions)* I think bleaching oak opens the pores of the wood. Doesn't that encourage staining? A: Yes. Bleaching will open the pores, as well as weaken the wood fibers. It does make them more susceptible to wear, but in this case it was not a concern. These floors were sealed afterwards with water based polyurethane. CD **Q: Brand of stain?** *(in Photo Questions)* Trying to get this look on our old white oak floors. What brand and color stain did you use? Also, any particular bleach? A: Two thin even coats of 2 part sodium hydroxide/hydrogen peroxide bleach applied with the grain. Then neutralized it with vinegar. We then highly thinned flat paint (1:1) and applied a couple coats. This was topped off with a water based polyurethane. **Q: Can you please tell me who makes this table and chairs? LOVELY!!!!** *(in Photo Questions)* A: We had both the table and chairs custom built.
