> I recently had the pleasure of working with Heather from Design Moe Kitchen & Bath on a major redesign of my backyard including outdoor kitchen, cabana, pool and even planting recommendations. Being in San Diego we were going for the "outdoor living" concept She nailed it! Heather possesses an innate ability to capture the essence of a concept and translate it into stunning visual designs and her attention to detail is unparalleled. Her talent and design sensibility are absolutely exceptional. She is committed 100%+ and goes above and beyond to make sure every detail is handled. The end result speaks for itself -- it is beautiful!

**★★★★★ — Doug Eisberg, May 2023**

> After several years of planning, we were ready to remodel our kitchen but didn’t know how to proceed. We had a general idea of what we wanted but struggled with the details. Honestly, we didn’t know where to turn.
> After some research we found Design Moe Kitchen and Bath and hired them to design our kitchen and many other elements of our home. We are extremely pleased with the results. Heather and Dan are true professionals and the value they brought to our project was beyond our wildest dreams.
>
> Heather worked hard to understand our preferred style and color palette and presented us with many options as we went through the process. Dan was excellent at bringing Heather’s design to life, while ensuring the accuracy of the kitchen design and was able to provide a 3D model so we could see things before they were built.
>
> Heather accompanied us to visit vendors and helped with the selection of our appliances, countertop, colors and tile choices. After understanding our general ideas, she was very thoughtful in advising us away from some choices that she felt we would regret. We were so pleased that she was there to guide us through each phase of our remodel.
>
> In the end, Design Moe Kitchen and Bath prepared an itemized list of actions and drawings for the bid process and for our contractor to use during construction. They then followed our project throughout the entire construction process. In addition, they acted as a go-between with our contractor whenever problems occurred. Heather and Dan stayed with us until the project was complete and wanted our full satisfaction. In addition to providing a great layout and a beautiful kitchen, it is extremely functional thanks to Design Moe’s experience with layouts and efficient kitchen organization. We now have plenty of storage but with elegance that matches our small home.
>
> We are so pleased and would recommend Design Moe Kitchen and Bath to anyone.

> I recommend them highly. Professional and courteous!!
> Dan and heather were outstanding to work with.

> We hired Design Moe to update our 1980’s kitchen and master shower. Heather was wonderful at putting our vision to paper and designing a kitchen that is functional and happy to cook in. She sat down with us, walking us through every part of our kitchen, asking where items are stored, what areas we use most, etc. She provided recommendations on areas that we didn’t think about. Her attention to detail is excellent and shows throughout the process. Dan and Heather were there every step of the way ensuring our upgrades met the specifications. They along with their contractors followed COVID protocols making us feel safe and comfortable during construction. The final product is AMAZING and brings joy to my heart every time I walk into our kitchen. Our upgrade has brought in more light to the kitchen, wonderful flow and beautiful cabinets with plenty of storage. We would highly recommend Design Moe!

**Comment from Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer:**

> Thank you Jan! I think we made a great team & it resulted in an amazing result. I look forward to sampling some of Juan's cooking!

> My husband and I recently hired Heather Moe for a kitchen and bath remodel, and we are so happy we did. She and her husband Dan came to our house several times to measure and re-measure. We went to the studio and Heather helped us pick out countertops, kitchen cabinets and hardware. She also went with us to pick out the granite slab for the counters.
> She referred us to an amazing contractor, Noble Construction, who were top notch.
>
> I would highly recommend Heather Moe to anyone wanting the best!

**Comment from Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer:**

> Thank you Lynne and Larry! It was great working with you.
> And the kitchen looks wonderful.
> (I still can't believe we actually ended up with extra room in the cabinets.)
> I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday.

**★★★★★ — Lauri Robbins, Oct. 2017**

> Working with Heather was a great experience! She has superb ideas, is very knowledgeable and sought to create a final space that is just what we had in mind! She is fun to work with, listens and is able to interject thoughts and ideas that contribute to the goals we had. Thank you Heather, you were so helpful!

**Comment from Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer:**

> Thank you, Lauri. It's always exciting to see a project come to life, and I think we had fun collaborating on the design. I look forward to working with you again.

> I contacted them for a paint color on a remodel they did . They responded promptly even though I live Texas. I really appreciate their help. Just from their quick response I would recommend them. That is rare for customer service.

> Very professional and talented team. I love working with moe and his team. We subcontract a lot of our work for them and know that we can count on them to do a great job for us. Truly caring and loving team.

> I loved Heather, she has amazing ideas and is fun to work with. I had a small powder room I needed help with, her ideas were awesome and did not break the bank. I was however, very disappointed in her follow through and in the end had to change my direction a bit and finish on my own because I needed to get the project done and I could not wait any longer for her. If to for the frustration of waiting for responses I would give her a five star rating.

**Comment from Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer:**

> I'm very sorry that we left you frustrated on your bathroom. I'm afraid that I didn't do a good job managing my time among the projects that were ongoing at this time, and I apologize for letting you down.
> Although we've now changed the way that we accept and manage projects (and I think we're generally doing a better job), we still wrestle sometimes with the challenges of managing time among concurrent or overlapping projects.
> Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience.

**★★★★★ — gtanksley, Feb. 2015**

> We can not say enough good things about Design Moe, and Heather and Dan.
> They walked us through all the decisions, and gave very expert, pragmatic and tangible, well reasoned explanations for each element guiding us to decisions that were based on value. They know when to resist and when to reassure and when to relent. They created for us elegance with affordability.
> They really listened, and rather than making us comfortable with their directions, they made us really comfortable with ours, and the end product was really outstanding. We continually get high praise for the function and feel of the space. It's bigger and better now, and all within the same footprint. The look is warm, and timeless. The project was on time, and on budget.
> I am not exagerating that I am entirely grateful every time I walk into this kitchen and the immediate impression I have is;
> "a thing of beauty is a joy forever".
> Remodeling being what it is, we went into it excited about the opportunity, but with modified expectations to at a minimum, avoid any major hassles with such a permanent and financial committment, but couldn't really allow myself to fully imagine how much we would love and admire the final result. Every time, every day.
> There is a big difference between a remodeling nightmare and a dream. Thanks Design Moe for making our dream kitchen come to life, and working with my wife's great ideas and concepts to get us all there together!!!
> If there were more than 5 stars, we would give em.!!!

**★★★★★ — Cabochon Surfaces & Fixtures, May 2014**

> Heather is a joy to work with! Her amazing design aesthetic and attention to fine details have created beautiful and unique homes for her clients to enjoy for years to come. Timeless and elegant, Heather continues to amaze by blending form and function with personalized touches that truly bring the clients personality to life. From clean and contemporary to traditional perfection, Heather and her team transform the house into a true home! We enjoy collaborating with her and are always looking forward to the next project!

**★★★★★ — haydnhouse, April 2014**

> We are in the process of a remodel and we are working with Heather Moe (and Dan Forster). Heather has been wonderful and a true joy to work with. I met with and interviewed a number of designers before choosing Heather. She clearly had the most interesting and creative design solutions for our project. We had a challenging design problem, in that we have a great room to which we are adding a lot of windows, and not leaving a lot of wall space. Yet, in this great room we need to put a kitchen, living room and dining room. Heather came up with the idea of opening a closet, making an arch, insetting the oven and stove and creating a cooking alcove. She also suggested opening the pantry to create a space for the dining room table. It is hard to describe all of this, however, she when very out of the box, and came up with a solution that is both beautiful and functional. In addition to her creativity, and knowledge of design and construction, she is also very generous with her time and ideas and has been open and supportive for all of my questions. The project is not yet finished, we will be happy to post pictures upon completion. I would, without hesitation, recommend Heather to anyone thinking of doing a remodel!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Wow! So beautiful! What kind of tiles are there?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you pls.tell me the material, colour and dimentions? Thank you! It is really awesome!

A: Hi Mi Mamalove.
(I have to say, that's a great name and fun to say!)
The field tile in this bathroom is a tumbled marble tile from a company called "Jeffrey Court." The size is 3 x 6. We did a standard grid pattern on the bottom section of the wall and a classic herringbone pattern on top. The 2 trim tiles (the chair rail and the cane molding) come from the same company.
This tile looks particularly rich because it is real stone, not a porcelain version of stone. However, one thing to keep in mind about working with natural stone is that you can expect high variability within the color range. This means that you may be surprised when your tile order arrives.
In this particular case, we had chosen crema marfil marble, which is known for having a relatively calm grain without a lot of wild colors or patterns. Nevertheless, when we received the tile, we found that some of the tiles--maybe 10%--had noticeable rust/orange streaks that stood out. So we had the tile setter pull those tiles and we didn't use them. This meant that we had to order more tile, which meant that the cost of the project materials increased. (My clients agreed that it was worth the extra cost.)
Of course, some people may have chosen this tile because they loved the rust/orange streaks, and they may have decided to feature those pieces rather than selecting them out. The important thing is to make sure that you have seen several samples of the tile before you order it, so that you are aware of the extent of the color variability. This is always true--but particularly true with natural stone.
Thanks for your question, and good luck with your project!

**Q: What cabinet company did you use?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I see the drawers are finished and not plywood on top like many of the custom cabnitry shops seem to want to use.

A: Hi Joni,
We sell Woodland Cabinetry and we would love to give you an estimate on your cabinets. We're in Escondido, and we work throughout the San Diego area. You can reach us at 760-755-7554. I look forward to hearing from you.

**Q: what is the stone backsplash you show behind sink? thank you.** *(in Photo Questions)*

Stone backsplash material used behind sink?

A: Hi Kwise. The pebble mosaic that we used in this beautiful niche is a flat version of the popular natural pebble mosaic. We have been using these for floors and for accents, and the reduced thickness makes it both easier to use and easier to grout than the original natural pebbles, which were really bumpy! The actual tile that we used in this niche has, unfortunately, been discontinued, but I went online and found a similar style: Toemi Studio – Ocean Collection – AIT New Website (americanimporttile.com) You might also try looking online under "flat pebble tile" and you should be able to find a whole bunch of available color variations of the same look. Good luck with your project!

**Q: Do you know who made that light fixture?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love

A: Hi Jane,
Sorry, it's been a while, so I couldn't find this same fixture.
You might take a look at the Vetraio 47"W Oiled Bronze Kitchen Island Light Chandelier from Uttermost, or even Kathy Ireland's Ramas de Luces 40" Wide Bronze Chandelier from Lamps Plus. Good luck on your search!

**Q: what Benjamin Moore color would match cabinets?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Want to paint my kitchen cabinets. Wondering if you can suggest a B.Moore color that would give me this look. I assume an eggshell finish.

A: HI Karen,

Thank you for your question! I love the way this armoire turned out.
We used a Pennsylvania custom cabinetry company, Christiana Cabinetry, and this is one of their proprietary paint & glaze finishes. It is also somewhat whiter in "real life."
If you would like the same look as the photo, I would suggest that you just go ahead and match the color on your screen as close as possible and then have your painter prepare some sample doors. Make sure that you tell the painter that there is a glaze over the finish--that way the painter will know to start with a lighter color. You might also let the painter know that the glaze was a charcoal based color and was almost completely wiped off, so the glaze hung up in the reveals only, and there were no brushstrokes left on the flat surfaces.
Good luck with your project!

**Q: where did you get the glass blocks?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love the glass blocks

A: Hi Marie-

You can buy glass block at most building supply stores. They even have it at the big box stores, although it may be special order. I recently saw the glass block in this photo (Seves 8 x 8 x 4 cross-ribbed pattern) available online from Home Depot for about $80 for a carton of 8 blocks, which works out to $10 a block or about $22.50/SF.
Good luck on your project!
Heather
