### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Thai, Nov. 2021**

> Night Light, Inc. did a fantastic job on our landscape lighting. They added just the right amount and style of illumination to balance aesthetics and functionality. Dean, the company president, evaluated our property and gave honest recommendations that perfectly fit our needs. Josh (Installation Manager) and his crew were fast, professional, and VERY respectful of our new plantings and freshly laid sod. Other than the newly installed lighting, you couldn't tell that they had even been there. Night Light, Inc. was extremely responsive with our questions/communications. Would highly recommend their services.

**Comment from Night Light, Inc.:**

> Thank you for your review! We work alongside a lot of new landscaping projects, so we work hard to preserve not only your investment in your illumination system, but also your entire outdoor project!

**★★★★★ — Ray Urban, Sept. 2021**

> Night Light took time to understand our exterior lighting needs and to create a plan design that met them. The installation was done neatly. The installers took time to walk us through how the system works including the app that allows us to control our lights from our phone. All worked well. This is the 2nd time that I used Night Light and I would use them again if needed. I have recommended the company to my friends.

**Comment from Night Light, Inc.:**

> Thank you for recommending Night Light, Ray! Those walkabouts with the crew chiefs are the cherry on top, and they love interacting with clients as well!

**★★★★★ — Mark, Sept. 2021**

> Night Light is professional and easy to work with. They completed the job on time and did quality work. Would highly recommend.

> A their work was exactly what I wanted! Yard looks great. They fixed some bad lights and installed several new. Thanks Billy and crew!

**Comment from Night Light, Inc.:**

> From start to finish, the crew at Night Light did a fabulous job lighting our front yard/porch and backyard deck and patio. I can’t say enough good things about them.

**Comment from Night Light, Inc.:**

> We're happy we were able to meet your expectations! We hope you enjoy it for years to come!

**★★★★★ — Kim Kenley, Sept. 2021**

> Night light was recommended to us by a couple of different people. Our yard has been a work in progress with lighting being one of our last projects. It took awhile for them to schedule us in but they got the job finished in a day and we are impressed at the results. We love the down lighting in the back with the lighting being subtle as to not light up the neighborhood.

**Comment from Night Light, Inc.:**

> Thank you for including photos in your review. They look lovely! Please give us a call should you need service in the future.

**★★★★★ — Avi Vaidya, Sept. 2021**

> We love the artistic use of modern technology to make our nights and evenings fascinating through the Night Lights installed by professionals. We primarily worked with Peter Brockman who kept us fully informed during all stages starting with sales to after installation check ins. I would recommend Peter to anyone who wants to create a drama around their homes through lights and shades.
>
> We love your art, your professionalism, and the quality of your work. Thanks!

**Comment from Night Light, Inc.:**

> Our designers are the key to the customer experience. So happy to hear Peter made you feel like the VIP you are!

**★★★★★ — xx xx, Sept. 2021**

> We have been working with Night Light for over a decade. Not huge projects, but nice ones. We started with lights in back, lighting our back trees and back patio. When we had branches cut, Night Light came out and re-arranged the lights. When we damaged the lights (lawn mower), they came out and fixed them, and replaced the light bulbs.
> Last month, we finally decided to illuminate the front. We were undecided what to do- house vs trees. Dale came by and gave us the pro-and-con of several options, and then gave us a quote (lighting three trees, no house). The men came by last week. They used the original power box in back, so we didn't need to use up another outlet for the front lights. They installed front lights, moved some of the back lights around, recycled some lights so we didn't need all new ones, and cleaned up so it didn't even look like they had been there- all in one morning.
> The three front trees look great, and the back yard does, too. All for about $2500, which we think is a reasonable price for all the work done.

**★★★★★ — Ken Kirk, Sept. 2021**

> I am extremely pleased with our new lighting scheme. NightLight was very accommodating and worked around my schedule. Additionally, they were able to complete the installation sooner than expected and were very willing to help with some adjustments after the initial installation. We are receiving rave reviews!
> Highly Recommended!!

**Comment from Night Light, Inc.:**

> We're so happy to hear about the raving reviews! It can be difficult to describe what the effect will look like in the end, and every project is so unique. Give us a call whenever you need service in the future!

**★★★★★ — Mark Utendorf, May 2021**

> We had Night Light do a small lighting job in our front and back yards and it turned out awesome! We wanted something understated and elegant and that's exactly how it turned out. They were very easy to work with, changing out some light fixtures that were brighter than we expected and even removed a fixture we decided we no longer wanted. Every person we worked with was extremely professional, from the salesperson, Dean, to the electrician, Josh, and finally the installation crew led by Derrick...great team! We highly recommend them - great results and even better customer service! Mark and Janice

**Comment from Night Light, Inc.:**

> Thank you so much, Mark and Janice! You are a delight to work with, and we're glad the outcome was what you hoped for!

**★★★★★ — CManly, Oct. 2020**

> We selected Night Light Inc. to design and install outdoor lighting around our home after seeing some of their other projects in our neighborhood. We wanted to highlight the landscape and several large trees with cool LED lighting that accentuated the greenery. The final result is beautiful and we’ve received many compliments. Nick was great to work with and we would absolutely recommend Night Light to anyone looking to enhance their home after dark.

**Comment from Night Light, Inc.:**

> Thank you so much for the review and sharing the photos, Ches. We are glad we were able to create a lighting design that meets your needs. It has been a pleasure to serve you. Enjoy your landscape illumination system and please let us know how we can help you in the future.

**★★★★★ — jpmom, Oct. 2020**

> We have used several outdoor lighting companies over the last 15 years, and Night Light has been the best, by far.
> We wanted to add downlighting on a mature Ash tree, and wow, what a game changer. They also added a few other lights to fill in spaces that needed some pow.
>
> Most recently, we were preparing our house for the market and needed the lighting tweaked, bulbs replaced, etc. Dawn responded to my email promptly and they came out to see what we needed in a timely manner. When we had to change the date of the listing photos for the house, Chris sent out his crew the day before to make sure everything was perfect. Patrick was just the best. He was courteous and thorough.
>
> Outdoor lighting has made such a difference to our home. We love driving up to our home at night, and we often receive compliments on our lighting from friends and neighbors.

**Comment from Night Light, Inc.:**

> Thank you Janice for taking the time to share your experience. Our team truly enjoys working for those that appreciate the difference. We wish you all the best with the sale of your property.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Ideas for improving curb appeal?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are in the process of buying this home and I would love some ideas on how to add some extra curb appeal - low maintenance!

Thanks!!

A: It's difficult to tell from the photos, but it seems you may have some large trees on your property where you could create a moon-lighting effect with landscape lighting. Check out examples of that on our Houzz profile.

**Q: What were you specific lighting choices? Floods? Recessed?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love the lighting choices you've made here. You can see almost every detail of that beautiful porch.

A: Our perspective on landscape lighting is "not one light too many". We also like to control the color temperature of each light (Kelvin scale), and the intensity of each light to create interest and variation.

**Q: Front entry and yard landscaping in Pacific NW** *(in Before & After)*

Would like some ideas on accentuating the front entry of our home in the Pacific NW. I'd like a small courtyard to for sitting since there is no front porch, and am looking for low maintenance shaped, and topiary evergreen color. After 26 years of caring for an English garden, I'm ready for a neat and tidy look that requires trimming just a few times a year. Please share your thoughts. If there are any Portland, Oregon area landscapers interested in the job, we are looking for help.

A: For greater emphasis on the entryway, incorporate landscape lighting to guide visitors to your front door. High quality, professionally installed LED lights last a very long time with little to no maintenance.

**Q: LIghting** *(in Photo Questions)*

Awesome glow to the space. Can you elaborate what lights are used up, down, and overhead?

A: We did a similar installation of bistro lights and LED landscape lighting for a residence in the Chicago area.

**Q: Style of exterior lighting on remodel?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Can not decide on the style of outdoor lighting for a ranch style house? Has post light and wall lights by front door and above the garage doors. Traditional, Classic, Craftsman, etc. Please help!

A: Do moon-lighting from that big shade tree in the back.

**Q: Outdoor LED Lighting** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Is it worth the effort and expense to replace outdoor landscape lighting to LED lights?

A: As long as the contractor or you are familiar with the quality of the LED lamps, because many lamps on the market are rather costly, but may not be tested for an outdoor application.

If the lamps are proven then the energy savings can be up to 80% with a lamp life of 6-8 years as opposed to many quartz halogen bulbs being 6-8 months.

Another issue to address is the temperature (degrees Kelvin) of the light or color. Typical quartz halogen is somewhere in in the 3,000-3,200 degrees Kelvin or warm light, but LED lamps can be also purchase in 4,500 -6,000 K white to blue tones respectively.

Another consideration is the wattage of the lamps can be inconsistent since the lumen (light output) to watt ratio varies greatly between lamp manufactures. If you are not careful the amount of light produced from the new LED is not as bright as the previous incandescent. Most people are not happy with paying considerably more, but getting less light.

I hope this helps.
