> Double the budget. Triple the time. Our bad, we didn't set up a contract, and he took full advantage, dragging the project out, charging us insane labor costs. Two bathroom remodels took 5 months and over $50k. Do not trust this man, he is a snake and a liar. We should have known when he aired out his former clients' dirty laundry the day we met him. He is lucky to have quality workers so the workmanship is at least good. Protect yourself.

> Kim has very good ideas and has an eye for creativity and unique things.
> He is not set in his ways and very open to new materials and new design ideas. He values doing a job correctly and has a great eye for quality. Solid guy and trustworthy.

**★★★★★ — barbarachristensen, April 2013**

> My contractor, Kim, totally remodeled my kitchen and bathroom. He refinished the oak floors in the living room and replaced the floors in the kitchen, bathroom and den. The wall between the kitchen and living room was removed to create a great room. He replaced a living room window with French doors. He is experienced and highly skilled in all aspects of construction and remodeling. His attention to detail is evident.

> Kim patiently guided me through the whole remodel process and I'm very pleased with the results. I had full confidence in him and his crew. The crew was competent and tight-knit. They made a stressful experience fun and educational. I always felt my ideas and questions were respected. Kim worked around my time frames in terms of decisions.
>
> Ideas that Kim came up with include wainscoting in the bathroom, crown molding in the kitchen and bathroom, the kitchen back splash, and the kitchen and bathroom tile configuration. I am very happy with the execution of all these ideas.

> I have used Markim Construction on several projects and have always found them to provide the highest quality construction and care. Each job has been finished on time and with complete satisfaction. They helped on some design and material selections which was perfect for the job. Great work.

**★★★★★ — caseycrellin, Oct. 2012**

> I hired Markim to oversee installing new hardwood and ceramic tile flooring in our out-of-the-way cabin in Idaho. The quality of the products and the workmanship were excellent. Kim went the extra mile to make sure the work-site was clean and he took care of several on-the-job needs (trim removal, fixture and cabinet removal, as well as re-installs), leaving our place in better shape than they found it! The sub contractors final billing was a little higher than we anticipated, but understandable, so get a quote up front and you can count on great workmanship from Markim Construction!

> Neat, clean, punctual and professional. Fair priced for quality work and professionalism. Beautified the backyard deck and stairs as well as stabilized it. Very much enjoy the finished project.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Storage** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where can I get this island?

A: This plan storage island was made here in Salt lake City by a cabinet shop that is no longer in business. It was very labor intensive as you can imagine but the end result was great. The desk is in my home office and as you can see I use for its intended purpose. I can open and view entire plan sets on the top counter, the old fashioned sets that is! I am sure that any good reputable cabinet shop with craftsman in your local area could replicate it with no problem.

**Q: What is the name/make of the stone on the fireplace?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I will get back with you on the Brand and specific style name of the stone in the picture. I have to go back through the file. Give me a day or so. Thanks!

**Q: Are there problems with water spraying into the room?** *(in Photo Questions)*

With the open shower, are there issues with water spraying out into the rest of the bathroom? Thank you for your feedback

A: Yes, without a glass door and a continuing piece of glass on top of the "pony" wall there would be a problem with water splashing out of the shower area. I took the pictures before I installed the glass in order to better see the shower fixtures and the tile work. The glass door was placed in the center of the marble threshold.

**Q: What is the name of the travertine tiles used?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This project was a few years ago and I cannot recall the name of the travertine off the top of my head. I will look in my records and see if I can find it.

**Q: Love how all the colors worktogether. What is the flooring?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The flooring is light travertine, not honed & filled in 18" x 18" squares.

**Q: Where do you find these types of shower doors-and color** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: These shower doors and hardware are available through most high end glass companies. This particular 3/8" euro-glass sliding door was ordered and fabricated by Arizona Shower Doors. I am not sure if they are an option in your area or not. Hope this helps!
