### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Gina Tomasini, April 2021**

> We built a home with Highland Homes, and from start to finish, they were nothing less than exceptional to work with.
> Each person who helped us far exceeded our expectations. Our project manager was Steve, and he was by far, nothing short of excellent. We felt so blessed to have him guide us on this journey. He was friendly, professional, and always followed through with whatever he said he would do.
> In addition, everyone communicated constantly and were easy to get a hold of when we had any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
> Any changes we wanted to make were handled quickly and at reasonable prices. Each time we visited to check on the build, we were blown away by the craftmanship of our house.
> I'm thankful our realtor suggested building with Highland Homes!

> My wife and I built with Highland Homes while we were in another state. It was our first time building a home from afar. Highland Homes was terrific throughout the whole process! The whole team starting with Kristin who introduced us to Highland Homes while we were visiting and told us about this new Dry Creek development! Mike the owner was great and treated us like family. Then working with the whole team from Jared, Nichelle, Anna, Tucker our project manager who was great keeping us informed on our build! Using their app called CoConstruct made the process easy with us living in another state. The design team with Christine Duff who helped us in some of our selections. We would highly recommend using Highland Homes to anyone looking to build or relocate to Boise. If we decide to build again in the future we know who to turn to!

> Unfortunately, our experience with Highland Homes does not reflect with reviews that are written here. We are returning to Boise after being gone for several years. We have already purchased a lot just above Lucky Peak. We were looking for a builder that built quality homes but also specialized in building while the homeowner was out of state. It appeared that Highland was a perfect fit. We went to Boise to met with a few builders and after seeing the homes that Highland build and explaining where our lot was and what we wanted to build, we were told that every that we wanted was doable by Nichelle (Sales Agent). Our initial meeting with Nichelle was on a Saturday morning. She said that she would like for us to meet with Mike (the owner of Highland Homes) but he was busy in the morning but would be free in the afternoon. We went to lunch and waited for Nichelle to call us and tell us when and where we would meet Mike. As the afternoon progressed and did not hear from her, we attempted to call her. After two calls and a text that did not get returned, Saturday came to a close and we did not meet Mike or ever here back from Nichelle. It was the weekend and things come up, totally understandable. After the weekend was over and our returned home, Nichelle reached out to us via email. She responded “It was great getting to know you both and hearing your amazing home ideas. :) We would love the opportunity to build for you. I want to get a conference call scheduled for you to talk with Mike Dildine (owner/builder) and Kristin Pugh (Design/pricing) to talk about next steps. Can you give me a day/time that works best? “ We immediately began looking at Highland’s existing floorplans and within 7 days we sent them back a mocked up floor plan in a software program. We expressed that we are anxious to get going on this quickly because we would like to get the plans completed and the house built. The response from Nishelle was “Thank you so much for that information.... Very Helpful! :) We are excited to work with you and Kristin will jump right into plan design with you. I see you copied her on this email so I am sure she will respond quickly with an available day/time to connect with you.” After nine days of hearing nothing from Kristin or Mike, we emailed again to see what the status was. The reply that we got from Kristin was “I appreciate your following up and we appreciate, so much, the interest in our company! The delayed response falls entirely on me. We have been extremely interested in your project off Mores Creek - such a beautiful area - and it’s been the topic of conversation everyday within our company. Though it is a difficult decision, we ultimately have to decline at this point. We feel the distance from our current commitments prevent us from taking on a job so far out of the area this year. As we expand our company over the next few years we’re hopeful at the opportunity to serve clients outside of just the Treasure Valley. Again, thank you for considering us as a builder and we wish you the absolute best on your future project!”
> So, it was nice of Kristen to use the Management Technique of the “$hit $andwich”. Here you have all three elements of the $hit $andwich: one the flattering or cheerful opening, two the actual news and three the Optimistic conclusion.
> This has been a huge disappointment for us and waste of our time! We got slow/no responses, there was a lack of follow through (last thing you want to deal with when somebody is building your home), us doing our due diligence, our design time, wasted time on our trip to Boise, etc.

**Comment from HIGHLAND HOMES LLC:**

> As owner of Highland Homes, I wanted to reach out and apologize for your frustrating experience. Communication is very important in our company and is something that we emphasize every day as key to providing exceptional customer experiences. It is, in fact, the very thing that so many of our positive reviews mention as to the positivity of their Highland Homes experience. I sincerely apologize that the communication did not come as clearly and quickly as it should have.
>
> While we would love to take every job that comes our way, it is important for us to know in advance that we have the ability to give each one of our homeowners and their homes the attention that they deserve. Unfortunately, after reviewing things carefully with our construction team, we made the determination that the near two hour roundtrip distance between your new home and our other current projects, would jeopardize the individual care and attention that we could provide to both yourself, and our current homeowners.
>
> Again, I apologize and take ownership personally, as we could have better informed you of the cause for our delay in getting back to you. We wish you nothing but the very best in the adventure of building your new home!

**★★★★★ — April P., Feb. 2018**

> We purchased a Highland Home and love the attention to detail, functionality and quality of the construction. We get so many compliments on how beautiful our home is thanks to Highland!

**Comment from HIGHLAND HOMES LLC:**

> Thanks so much for the review April! We're so glad you're enjoying your home!

**★★★★★ — James Buschine, March 2017**

> Everyone from the HighlandHomes team was a pleasure to work with, from the draftsman to the subcontractors. Everyone was professional and always wanted the best for us. I really appreciated working with to entire team.

**★★★★★ — Jill Walters, March 2017**

> We were delighted with the process of building with Highland Homes LLC and the staff who work with them. They delivered on time a high quality home complete with the special details that made it ours. Their online progress program helped us keep track of our choices and added costs.

**★★★★ — communiKating, March 2017**

> We custom built a new home with Highland Homes. We loved being able to create and design our own floorplan, and have a truly custom experience. The project was kept on budget during the whole project, and we could track the expenses during the process. Our home was built on time, and there was good communication for all the many details. Highland also has been great at any minor problems or concerns that have come up after we moved in. It's been over two years and we love our home!

**★★★★★ — Brian Hanks, March 2017**

> Highland did a great job on our home. Their service was prompt and professional. Everyone I interacted with at Highland was honest and respectful. Best of all, they delivered exactly what they said they would, when they said it would be done. I would highly recommend to others.

**★★★★★ — cooperkfalls, Sept. 2016**

> We had the best experience building with Highland! The online information and calendar was amazing. The best part is that our home was completed only 2 DAYS after the projected timeline. That's unheard of in the home building world! I would recommend Highland Homes to anybody who wants to build a beautiful home.

**★★★★★ — L Christianson, March 2016**

> I can't say enough good about Highland Homes and the experience we had with building our home with them. We hadn't built a home before, were inexperienced in every aspect of the process, and frankly we were dreading the process because of all the horror stories we had heard. I don't like being confrontational and was worried I would have to be, or worse we would end up over budget and/or with a home we weren't happy with. Our worries proved unfounded because they walked us through the whole process, and we are thrilled with the results. We just finished building our home this past month and it was under budget and absolutely beautiful. Highland Homes made us feel like our happiness with the home was their top priority. One of the things that I think sets them apart from others builders is their organization and education -- Mike and Eric both have construction management degrees and have their process down to a science. Each client gets their own continuously updated online site where you can see all of your selections, photos, and the ongoing budget in detail. The site also has a "paper trail" of all your communications under the appropriate category and the option to change selections. I appreciated that they used quality subcontractors, all of whom I was very happy with. They managed the project so that things were done on time and to our satisfaction. There were times when I wasn't sure about something -- for example, the island color we chose or the size of the driveway. In both of those instances I eventually wanted to change my mind, and they made it happen. I never saw them lose their cool or get upset, even when we threw some crazy things into the mix. The result is that we have our dream home for the budget we wanted. We primarily worked with Mike Dildine, Eric Atwood, and Nick Drzayich, and while they deserve a well earned break from us, we not only would build with them again, but think they are all great people whom we consider friends. Thank you Highland Homes!

**★★★★★ — Jessica Drzayich, Sept. 2015**

> We had the best experience building our first home with Highland Homes! I couldn't have imagined it going any smoother. Eric, the project manager, answered my calls whenever I had questions and made the process so enjoyable. I love walking into our new home and honestly don't think I could have asked for anything better. I highly recommend Highland Homes. You will not be disappointed.
