Basically, I dreamt it and he built it! Everything I asked for he delivered. Even though my husband said it was not possible. I currently have him doing another project I have been dreaming about. His experienced crew of trim carpenters did excellent work in some difficult and unusual framing and finishing work. They tackled some big challenges like framing to uphold a concrete tile roof with 10 ft interior ceilings and large open concept areas, installing the 900-lb mahogony front door/sidelite assembly and warping the door back back into shape, making curved edges on all arches and corners, installing a heavy 8ft cafe door to utility room (requiring 5 double-swing hinges), creating large cedar beams atop the 14-ft vaulted ceilings in living room (30ft long) and foyer (14 ft), custom building large cedar mantles over two fire places, building five skylights (very large one in kitchen) with indirect LED lighting, complex custom shelving in all 12 closets and pantry. The quality of all work was superb with almost no touch up required at final inspection. We have received many compliments from visitors. After being in the house a year, we are very satisfied with the house's beauty, utility, quality, and very low utility bills. Windcrest was a big part of the success of this building project. Miguel often worked as supervisor and project manager for the entire effort. **★★★★★ — Aemon Cannon, July 2016** > My wife and I worked closely with Miguel for 4 months as we tackled the extensive renovation of our 1953 Bungalow in Austin, TX. He wasn't the first contractor we talked to, but we liked him right off the bat because he was a good listener, shared our values w.r.t green building, and gave what felt like a realistic estimate. > > Our renovation had an extra element of stress due to it being televised, but Miguel was calm and collected even when the demands of the filming schedule required us to be on site at odd hours, or to do work in a particular order. > > Of all the elements of our home, we especially love our centerpiece kitchen island, which Miguel hand-crafted out of reclaimed long-leaf pine from a derelict barn. It's beautiful, and a great reminder of the folks that worked so hard on our home. > > As with any big project, there were contentious moments, but it helped that Miguel is always willing to listen to other points of view, and he's honest about what he thinks things are going to cost. > > In the end our project finished a bit over budget (due to some unforeseen circumstances related to the foundation), but we were pretty close to finishing on schedule which was a nice surprise (I have heard many a horror story about projects that drag on for months and months). Other work included painting, repairing damaged doors, replacing flooring and a particularly difficult high ceiling repair. The work was professional, friendly and efficient. The cost was reasonable. It's apparent the crew gets along well with each other and is responsive to client needs. Safety and job site cleanliness were excellent.
